"Please give a warm welcome to our new drummer Chason Westmoreland!!! We are extremely excited to have Chason join Hate Eternal and add his monstrous style to the band!
"Chason is an incredibly dynamic drummer and has really added a powerful and beastly element to the band and our new record. Chason has finished all of his drum tracking and did an amazing job!! Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of legendary death metal band Hate Eternal. The label comments:
"Helmed by founder, guitarist/vocalist, primary songwriter, and producer Erik Rutan, Hate Eternal has been one of the leading bands in the worldwide death metal scene for over eighteen years. The band's five full-length albums are considered crucial genre touchstones, and the band is a proven headliner across five continents.
"Hate Eternal (Rutan [guitar, vocals] and J.J. Hrubovcak [bass/vocals]) are currently holed up in Rutan's Mana Recording studio recording a new album that will be released in early 2015."
Regarding the recording, Rutan comments, "We are ecstatic about how the recording for our new album has been coming out so far, and our new label and home Season Of Mist. We've worked very hard on crafting these songs to reflect our path, from our past to the present, and the journey of Hate Eternal and its members. Writing this album was a long and arduous process. It took a tremendous amount of determination, blood, and sweat to bring this all to fruition. We're super proud of what we've accomplished creatively, and excited at the prospect of releasing what we feel is our most powerful Hate Eternal material to date."
Rutan continues, "Now it is time to bring this all to life! The recording process so far has been fantastic. I've never felt so focused and determined on a Hate Eternal record, and I know that this will be an album our listeners and supporters will truly appreciate. It represents an important milestone for me personally since 15 years ago both Hate Eternal began recording it's first album and Mana Recording Studios was born. We have so much more news to share with you over the coming months. We cannot wait for you to hear this album!"
Just in time for the holiday season, Hate Eternal bass maverick J.J. Hrubovcak vomits forth Death Metal Christmas' "Hellish Renditions Of Christmas Classics," a twistedly unholy rendition of some of the season's darkest hymns.
Composed and produced by J.J. with vocals and artwork by brother/Monstrosity vocalist Mike Hrubovcak, "Hellish Renditions Of Christmas Classics" was engineered by Hate Eternal mastermind Erik Rutan and J.J., mixed and mastered by Brian Elliott at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, and boasts five deformed Christmas classics.
The following press release was issued about the album:
"Far from a campy holiday metal record, Christmas - Hellish Renditions Of Christmas Classics comes replete with updated arrangements, blast beats, double bass drum battery, hellbound guitar solos and new lyrics with a purpose. A death metal record first and Christmas album second, the themes of the hymns were used as a foundation for the music and can mostly be heard in the right channel. Everything else was built around the theme -- solo sections, intros, outros, harmonies, etc. It was important from the start that this album not be a joke, but a serious record that could survive outside of the Christmas season and thus the resulting symphony of sickness. Housecore Horror Film and Heavy metal festival masterminds, Corey Mitchell and Philip H. Anselmo brought Austin, Texas a rare entertainment opportunity, packaged in human flesh, marred by celluloid cigarette burns--a four-day, multi-stage, multi-tent, multi-everything horror-movie festival. Industry people arrived from all around the world to help support this lofty endeavor.
The gorier the better as many of the major stars of the film portion of the festival had participated in legendary blood spillers such as the "Nekromantik" film series (Director Jörg Buttgereit ), "Coffin Joe" (Director José Mojica Marins ) and "Friday the 13th." Ari Lehman made film history when Jason Voorhees finally sprung to life after the murder of his mother. Lehman attended the festival not only as a film celebrity, but as a musician. Nefarious of Macabre joined Lehman on stage in his First Jason band to perform campy horror metal songs about that guy in the hockey mask. More...
Hate Eternal drummer Jade Simonetto has left the band to further his education and post-music career. Simonetto states about leaving:
"Being a part of Hate Eternal has been one of the greatest experiences of my life and parting ways is, by far, the most difficult thing I've ever had to do. Erik & JJ are older brothers to me and have always looked out for my best interests. Knowing I wont be touring and jamming with those guys is a hard pill to swallow, but I'm choosing to pursue my education and establish myself career-wise.
"I'll miss the world of diehard metal heads who come out to shows and support this great thing we all love. I wish Erik & JJ all the success in the world personally and professionally and have no doubt that Erik will discover some monster drummer we haven't yet heard of. It's what he does!"
Hate Eternal founder and guitarist/vocalist Erik Rutan comments, "It's been a great road traveled with Jade as a part of the band for six years, two very special albums and many, many tours across the world. Some of the best times and experiences in my life and career have been with Jade in the band. Jade is like a brother to JJ and I, and we are very proud of all we accomplished together as a band . His loyalty, dedication, and commitment to Hate Eternal is something we'll always be very grateful for and Jade will always be family. This has been in discussion for some time now and we all agreed that it was time for this to happen. We wish Jade nothing but the best with his future and thank him for all his hard work and tremendous contributions to Hate Eternal." More...

The July 3rd show of the Metalunderground.com sponsored Origin, Hate Eternal, Vital Remains and Abysmal Dawn tour has been moved to The Miramar Theater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. All tickets for the Madison show will be honored. This is now an ALL AGES show.
Origin is currently on the road supporting their fifth studio album and Nuclear Blast debut, "Entity," which is out now in North America.
A rush of cool air relieved my over-taxed pores when I entered Jackalopes. I walked past a girl wearing a Danzig shirt posing for a picture on top of a statue of a giant jackrabbit with horns—the fabled Jackalope. I not only sought shelter from the one-hundred-three-degree inferno that blazed outside, it helped me kill time before Emo’s opened its door a hour-and-a-half later.
While devouring one of the juiciest burgers in town, I noticed other metal heads wearing various death metal shirts entering the establishment. Located just a couple of blocks from the venue, the metal-friendly bar and grill catered to those awaiting the coming death metal onslaught.
In route to the bar, I noticed one of the more conspicuous fans on the other side of the street. Wearing corpse paint that may have been patterned from an old Satyricon or Gorgoroth photo, this fan’s black attire seemed in defiance of the sun’s powerful rays. I guess nobody told this guy he was going to a death metal show. Also, the heat surely streaked his makeup, most likely stinging his eyes. What he lacked in brains he made up for in dedication, though (even though this was a death metal show).
Three or four people stood near the touring vans outside the venue when I walked past Emo’s at around 6:30. The line grew to the front of the next venue when I returned at 7:30. Soon, the line grew to the end of the block—a good sign for the five bands due on stage. The venue opened close to its scheduled time of 8 PM. More...

Founder, vocalist and guitarist Erik Rutan comments, "Phoenix Amongst The Ashes is an album that we did everything possible to create a death metal classic that would stand out amongst all of our releases as an album that not only carries the traditional Hate Eternal sound, but expands the boundaries of what is possible within the confines of extreme death metal. I feel that this album truly represents a band that overtime has matured into creating our most dynamic and intense album yet. At times fast and extreme, at times, heavy, atmospheric, evil and melodic with the darkest of overtones. I truly feel this is one of my finest moments in my career and a defining moment for Hate Eternal. If you are a death metal fan, you should give it a listen, you won't be disappointed!"

Metalunderground.com is proud to premiere the title track off of Hate Eternal's upcoming fifth album, "Phoenix Amongst the Ashes." Check it out in the player below. "Phoenix Amongst the Ashes" is due out via Metal Blade Records on May 10th. The album is the first featuring new bassist J.J. Hrubovcak who joined the combo of Erik Rutan on guitar and Jade Simonetto on drums.
In terms of the writing on Phoenix Amongst the Ashes, Rutan stated: "it was my goal to expand upon what the band has done in the past, and add new dynamics and twists to the traditional, dissonant HATE ETERNAL style, yet keep it in the same vein. It took the three of us really pushing ourselves, and digging deep into the essence of who we are as musicians and writers and players to create something very unique and special. We cannot wait for everyone to hear what we have in store."
"Phoenix Amongst the Ashes" was recorded at frontman Erik Rutan's own Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida with mastering handled by Alan Douches of West West Side. Artwork was once again handled by Paul Romano (Mastodon, Chiodos, The Acacia Strain, Godflesh, Earth Crisis) who has also created cover art for Hate Eternal’s "I, Monarch," "The Perilous Fight (DVD)," and "Fury & Flames."
The tracklisting for "Phoenix Amongst the Ashes" is as follows:
2. The Eternal Ruler
3. Thorns of Acacia
4. Haunting Abound
5. The Art of Redemption
6. Phoenix Amongst the Ashes
9. Lake Ablaze
10. The Fire of Resurrection
