Background
This Los Angeles, California-based band is one of the few truly innovative acts in death metal, mixing industrial-style electronic rhythms and samples with grinding guitars and harsh vocals to create their own brutal soundscape. Formed in late 1991 with the line-up of Burton C. Bell (vocals), Dino Cazares (guitar, who has an additional side project, Brujeria ), Andrew Shives (bass) and Raymond Herrera (drums), the band rapidly made an impact with two tracks on the LA Death Metal compilation, produced by Faith No More bass player Bill Gould, and subsequently signed to Roadrunner Records.
The Colin Richardson-produced Soul Of A New Machine established Fear Factory as a genuine death metal force, with a good collection of songs delivered with originality and ferocity. Meanwhile, the band set about developing their live show on their debut tour with Brutal Truth in Europe, followed by US dates with Sick Of It All and Biohazard.
Fear Is The Mind Killer, a mini-album of remixes by Canadian industrialists Front Line Assembly, demonstrated further dimensions and possibilities available to the Factory sound by adding an industrial dance edge, bringing the band further acclaim.

Brutal Assault Festival Lineup Nearly Complete
The 11th edition of the Brutal Assault festival is scheduled for August 10th - 12th in Svojsice U Prelouce (100 km east of Prague), Czech Republic.
Organizers have issued the following update:
This year’s event promises more impressive expansion and confirms that the organizers don’t intend to stagnate. On the contrary, from year to year, the festival’s program is more and more various and promises more and more foreign metal crowd-pullers for the fans of promiscuous extreme genres. Thanks to the participation of many first-rate metal bands, this event aspires to become a major metal festival in central Europe.
It’s difficult to say which band can be branded as the headliner because this year’s lineup offers up several giants of the metal genre.
Great attraction, especially for fans of atmospheric or symphonic black metal are Norwegians black metal gurus DIMMU BORGIR. In their case we can look for a frosty and dark concert experience.
The next exclusive guest comes from the USA. FEAR FACTORY, who were well known as a representatives of dehumanized cyber metal, but nowadays they come with a new actual face of the year 2006. More...

Patterson Back w/ Korn After Stint By FF Guitarist
MTV.com reports: It turns out KORN haven't decided to axe guitarist Rob Patterson after all. Patterson, who had previously played with OTEP, was recruited last year to fill in for Brian "Head" Welch as KORN's touring guitarist. But last week, during the European leg of the band's "See You on the Other Side" tour, fans noticed Patterson — who plays offstage during KORN shows — had been replaced by FEAR FACTORY guitarist Christian Olde Wolbers. According to the band's management, that lineup was only temporary. "KORN played three shows with their longtime friend Christian to start the tour in Europe, but Patterson is now back at that position."
Korn Joined By Fear Factory Guitarist?
According to a posting on KornTV.co.uk and various Internet reports, KORN have enlisted FEAR FACTORY guitarist Christian Olde Wolbers as the replacement for the recently departed Rob Patterson.
Rob, who was previously the guitarist for OTEP, joined KORN as the backup guitarist in July 2005, filling the slot left vacant by the departure of Brian "Head" Welch.
After KORN's first summer European show on Thursday (May 25) at the Super Bock Super Rock XL festival in Lisbon, Portgual, several fans claimed that they saw Olde Wolbers performing with the group at the concert.
FEAR FACTORY are not currently on tour and have no dates scheduled until the fall. However, it is not clear if Wolbers will only be joining KORN for the European leg of the "See You on the Other Side" world tour or if his tenure with the group will be extended to include the upcoming Family Values trek.
KORN's upcoming DVD, "Live On The Other Side", will receive a big screen premiere on June 19 at more than 100 theatres in 70 markets nationwide. Along with interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and music videos, the disc will feature excerpts from a private show the band played for contest winners and U.S. soldiers on a plane headed to New York from Europe.
The DVD will be in stores on June 20.
KORN will headline the Family Values tour this summer, which begins on July 27 in Virginia Beach. The main stage lineup also features DEFTONES, STONE SOUR, FLYLEAF and DIR EN GREY.
Hypocrisy Will Not Be Touring With Fear Factory
Despite Internet rumors to the contrary, HYPOCRISY will NOT be part of the fall North American tour with FEAR FACTORY, SUFFOCATION and DECAPITATED, according to a posting on the band's official web site.
HYPOCRISY recently completed a North American tour with NILE, SOILENT GREEN, RAGING SPEEDHORN, DECAPITATED, and WITH PASSION in support of their 2005 acclaimed release, "Virus".
Upcoming HYPOCRISY shows:
Jun. 24 - Nummirock Festival - Nummijärvi, FIN
Jul. 22 - Metalcamp Festival - Tolmin, SLO
Aug. 11 – Party.San Open Air Festival - Bad Berka, GER
Ex-Dimmu Borgir Drummer Jams With Fear Factory
Former DIMMU BORGIR / CRADLE OF FILTH and current BENEDICTION drummer Nick Barker joined FEAR FACTORY on stage as a special guest for one song during the band's headlining appearance at the Manchester Academy 2 in England on Sunday, April 9. Barker reportedly performed "Martyr" with the band in what marked the first time FEAR FACTORY have ever had a guest drummer at one of their gigs.
BENEDICTION have set "Killing Music" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in June/July via Nuclear Blast Records (with whom the band recently re-signed). The CD will mark the recording debut with the group of Barker, who was most recently a member of BRUJERIA and who played with ex-FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares in the short-lived DRIVEN BY SUFFERING (working name) project. Following the album's release, the band will be appearing at festivals worldwide over the summer, followed by a full-blown "No Reunion Needed" world tour starting in September.
BENEDICTION have been confirmed as one of the headliners of the 2006 edition of the Fuck the Commerce festival, set to take place May 25-27 at MZA (Mehrzweckhalle) in Luckau, Germany.
