Shining And Saturnus Drop Off Urpin Fest

Norwegian black jazz outfit Shining has issued the following announcement about canceling the band's Uprin Fest appearance:

"Our show at Urpin Fest in Slovakia has unfortunately been canceled. Our agreement with the promoter was that the festival was to pay for the flights, but it seems now that the festival unfortunately can't afford these flights after all, and has been forced to cancel the show.

"We were very much looking forward to playing at this festival, and we hate canceled shows as much as you do. I know of several people that have already bought tickets to this festival just to see us, and we want to apologize to them. Let's hope we can be back in Slovakia very soon!"

Saturnus was also scheduled to appear at the festival in July and issued this statement about dropping off the bill: "Saturnus would sincerely like to apologize to you Mirík and OZ URPÍN for their cancellation and for not being able to play the festival.

"Our lead guitarist Rune broke his elbow in a bike accident last week and as a result all concerts and rehearsals, writing for the new album have been put on hold. We would like to come back to Slovakia at the end of 2014 to play for you as a way of making it up to our fans and to apologize and compensate Mirík and OZ URPÏN.

"We realize the hard work and effort that goes into organizing and paying for a festival and we are very very sorry for not being able to fulfill our obligations. We promise to come back and play a very special show for our Slovakian fans at the end of the year. Thank you and sorry again."

Saturnus Signs With Cyclone Empire

Cyclone Empire Records has announced the signing of Denmark's Saturnus. The band's new album will be released in the spring of 2012.

Saturnus made some necessary changes to its lineup in 2009 and started to seriously concentrate on rebuilding the band's inner structure which in turn led to recording a demo of new songs, which was then sent to various labels. Saturnus was back on the road towards recording and releasing a new album and in bringing the band's sound back to its loyal fans.

Says the band: "We are extremely happy and excited about having signed with Cyclone Empire to release our new album. Cyclone Empire were one of the interested labels from back in June who received a demo of some new songs. In time we formed relationship via our management Lugga Music who helped co-ordinate things until we arrived to where we are today.

"The deal is for two albums with the first CD to be released in the spring of 2012. The studio has not been decided yet, but we have already contacted and lined up our longtime collaborator Flemming Rasmussen to begin recording in December.

"The album title has not been decided yet but we have five finished songs with the working titles namely, 'Litany Of Rain', 'Between Worm And Woeful Star', 'A Father's Providence', 'Wind Torn' and 'Forest Of Insomnia'. These five songs and some other new tracks are currently undergoing their final touches."

The Saturnus lineup is as follows:

Thomas A.G. - Vocals
Henrik Glass - Drums
Mattias Svensson - Guitar
Rune Stiassny - Guitar, Keys
Brian Pomykala Hansen - Bass

Saturnus Issues Band Update

Denmark's Saturnus has checked in with the following update about the status of the band's lineup:

"Dear all, We think that now is the time to let you in on what is currently going on in camp Saturnus… As you might know we went through a substantial ‘re-grouping’ last year. Thomas and Brian is of course still in the band handling vocals and bass while lead guitarist Rune Stiassny, who already participated in two European tours, also is a full-blooded member of Saturnus. We are looking forward to present our drummer and a rhythm guitarist as well when the time comes.

"While we are humble towards the achievements of the past we are at the same time confident that we are able to carry on the flame and create a new Saturnus album. When exactly a new album will see the light of day we can’t say for sure. But what we can say is that we are currently i the process of writing new songs and that we will do some pre-recording for our album this Spring.

"The new material – in our opinion – is promising indeed. But if you would like a peek listen as to how it actually sounds like we have uploaded a youtube clip at this site from our performance of the new song ‘Wind Torn’ in Madrid last fall. We hope you like it… (our former drummer Jesper and Martin from Nightlight/Iron Fire helped us out on this tour – thank you!)."

Saturnus Rejoined By Former Bassist

Denmark's SATURNUS check in with the following band lineup news:

"Hey everybody, news flash from the Danish doomsters...

After releasing Veronika Decides To Die in 2006 and touring The States, Russia and parts of Europe, Saturnus and bass player Lennart Jacobsen has decided to go our separate ways. No hard feelings involved and we wish him the best of luck with his music in the future.

Luckily for us, our old bass player Brian Pomy Hansen (Brian recorded 'Paradise
Belongs To You', 'For The Loveless Lonely Nights' and 'Martyre') was playing in the band WIZARDS OF DOOM with Thomas (vocals). We tried giving him a call and he was up for the task. So, we are back in business (never went off!).

We have started writing material for the next album and have some massive European tour dates lined up for the spring of 2008.

We'll keep you posted on that!"
