Magnum Vocalist To Join Avantasia On Tour

Avantasia announced that Magnum vocalist Bob Catley will guest on the new "Mystery of Time" album due out this March. Catley will duet with Tobias Sammet on the track "The Great Mystery." In the video announcement below, Catley also indicated he will joine Avantasia on the upcoming world tour in support of the new release.

Catley joins a myriad of guest starts to appear on the album, including: Biff Byford (Saxon), Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween/Unisonic), Bruce Kulick (ex-KISS/ex-Meatloaf), Ronnie Atkins (Pretty Maids),Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon/Ex-Vengeance) and legendary former Deep Purple, Rainbow and Yngwie Malmsteen vocalist Joe Lynn Turner.

Magnum Posts Tour Blog

Amorphis To Play Sweden Rock Cruise

Amorphis has announced the band will be aboard the Sweden Rock Cruise on the Silja Galaxy, which leaves from Stockholm (SE) to Turku (FI) on Friday, October 5th and returns on the following day. Ticket prices start at 595 SEK per person (incl. cabin and access to all concerts and other onboard entertainment). Other bands to perform include Satyricon, Portrait, Rage, and more.

Magnum Reveals New Album Details

British melodic hard rock group Magnum has confirmed the release of an upcoming eighteenth studio album. The album "On The 13th Day" will be released by Steamhammer/SPV on September 19th in Scandinavia, September 21st in Germany, September 24th in Europe and September 25th in the US/Canada. "So Let It Rain," a new track taken from the album, will be released as a single at the end of August.

"On The 13th Day" will be available as a limited digipak edition with a bonus CD featuring unreleased, acoustic, and live tracks from the Magnum vaults, as a standard jewel case CD and a digital download. The artwork was once again created by fantasy artist Rodney Matthews. More...

Magnum Finishing Up New Album

British melodic rock legends Magnum are about to finish their new album "On The 13th Day," which will be released in Germany on September 21st, in Europe on September 24th, and in the US/Canada on September 25th through SPV/Steamhammer. A single named "So Let It Rain" is scheduled for an end of August release.

It will be available as a limited digipak edition with a bonus CD featuring unreleased, acoustic and live tracks from the Magnum vaults, as a double gatefold LP version with colored vinyl, and standard edition and digital download. The cover will be created once more by famous fantasy artist Rodney Matthews (Asia, Nazareth, Eloy).

Magnum Posts Preview Of New Album

British hard rockers Magnum are set to release the new album "Evolution" on November 14, 2011 via SPV/Steamhammer Records. The album consists of two new songs and re-recorded older tracks from the band's catalog. The band posted an album preview which can be heard below.

More Bands Confirmed For Hard Rock Hell V

Two more bands have been announced for this year's edition of Wales' Hard Rock Hell festival, both of which made their names in the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal Movement. Cirencester based act Dealer will be performing at the event, as will fellow new confirmations Bronz. The festival boasts a host of other NWOBHM acts as well as others and will take place at Pontins in Prestatyn, North Wales from December 1st-4th.

More Bands Confirmed For Hard Rock Hell V

The organisers of Britain's Hard Rock Hell festival has announced three more bands for this year's edition of the event. New Wave of British Heavy metal champions Tygers Of Pan Tang will be performing, as will their fellow NWOBHM comrades Girlschool, along with the also newly confirmed Magnum. The festival will take place from December 2nd-4th at Pontins in Prestatyn, North Wales and features the following lineup:

Magnum Posts "Eyes Like Fire" Video Online

MAGNUM has posted a high definition video of "Eyes Like Fire" on Youtube (and unwisely disabled embedding). "Eyes Like Fire" is taken from the DVD of the Limited Edition version of the "The Visitation" album, released in January 2011.

More Bands Confirmed For High Voltage Festival

The organisers of Britain's High Voltage festival has announced three more bands for this year's edition of the event. British heavy metal legends Saxon will be performing on the Metal Hammer stage, along with the other two new confirmations, British doom metal veterans Cathedral and Swedish power metal outfit Hammerfall. Magnum Begins Work On New Album

Magnum members Bob Catley and Tony Clarkin has announced that they are currently in Mad Hat's Studios working on the next Magnum record. A quick message states: "With the songs already written, the task is now to cut these down to the songs that will eventually end up on the album."

This will be the bands first album since last years "Into The Valley Of The Moonking."

Venom And UFO Added To High Voltage Festival

The organisers of Britain's High Voltage festival has announced some more bands for the festival's debut edition. Among the new confirmations are extreme metal daddys Venom, rock legends UFO, The Quireboys, Dweezil Zappa Plays Zappa and The Union, which features former members of Thunder. More Bands Confirmed For High Voltage Festival

The organisers of Britain's High Voltage festival has announced five more bands for the lineup. New Orleans supergroup Down will now be performing at the event, as will Gary Moore, Magnum, Joe Bonamassa and Northern Irish rockers The Answer. This will be the first edition of the festival and is scheduled to take place at London's Victoria Park on the 24th and 25th of July.

U.K. metallers Awake have issued the following announcement about upcoming tour dates with Magnum:

Original Magnum Drummer Passes Away

Kex Gorin, original drummer (from 1972 - 1984) for long-time UK rockers MAGNUM, has been in the hospital, critically ill with cancer. The band are sad to report the following message:

"All the guys in Magnum wish to say how deeply sorry we are to hear that Kex Gorin passed away Friday morning (December 21st). Our thoughts are with (partner) Sally and family at this time. We would would like to thank all those who showed their support. Kex Gorin will be deeply missed."

Magnum To Record Live Album

Longtime UK rockers MAGNUM have announced dates for the upcoming Wings Of Heaven Tour that will commence in November. The shows are to be recorded for a forthcoming live album for release next year to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the original Wings Of Heaven album. The shows will include many of the tracks from the latest Princess Alice & The Broken Arrow album and many classic Magnum tracks from their extensive back catalogue. Also, Magnum's Wings Of Heaven album will be played in it’s entirety, It will be a two part show with no support.

Damage Control Confirm Bloodstock Appearance

Metal rock ‘n' roll outlaws Damage Control, featuring Chris Slade (drums AC/DC), Pete Way (bass UFO), Spike (vocals Quireboys), and Robin George (guitar Robert Plant, Thin Lizzy, Magnum), has been confirmed as "very special guests" to perform at Bloodstock 2007 on Thursday 16 August. Bloodstock will be the band's only UK show this year. Damage Control just released their self-titled debut album on Cargo Records.
