70000 Tons of Metal - The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise

"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Disturbed

Formed: 1998
From: Chicago, IL, United States
Last Known Status: Active

Background

Disturbed is made up of members Dan Donegan (Guitar), Mike Wengren(Drums), Fuzz(bass), and David Draiman(vocals). The band started by playing clubs on the south side of Chicago. One short demo tape later and Disturbed was well on it's way.

The beginning was short, before long they were sharing the stage with hometown heroes, Ministry. Disturbed has since played acts such as the Ozzfest, and scored the theme music to WWF superstar 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin.

Disturbed's brute force is unquestionable, yet there's a murderous intelligence at work behind such songs as "Down With the Sickness" that will make the most jaded, veteran head-banger cast a wary, nervous gaze in their direction.

Disturbed Post New Song Clip Online

An audio clip of a new DISTURBED track, entitled "Inside The Fire", has been posted at the Rock on the Range MySpace page.

"Inside The Fire" is the first single from DISTURBED's upcoming album "Indestructible", due on June 3 via Reprise/Warner Bros. A video for the song was filmed with director Nathan Cox (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, MARILYN MANSON, LINKIN PARK).

In a recent interview with RollingStone.com, DISTURBED frontman David Draiman stated about "Inside the Fire", "That's a real racy song. It's about me standing over the body of my girlfriend, who just killed herself, and the Devil is standing over me, whispering in my ear to kill myself."

DISTURBED has posted another song, "Perfect Insanity", on its web site. The track, a reworked version of a song the band wrote and recorded early on in its career, is also supposed to appear on "Indestructible", which will be a heavier, angrier, more aggressive record than either 2005's "Ten Thousand Fists" or 2002's "Believe", according to Draiman. He's also hoping for a more "aggressive" marketing campaign to get the word out about the set, saying, "We will continue to try and do things, and we're still going to do things this record cycle as well, to try and make it where there's a reason to buy it that's beyond what we're doing just musically."

Draiman told MTV.com that he's had rough couple of years, which will most likely be reflected in some of the new music. He said, "All kinds of horrible stuff went on. Bad breakups; I've had my garage burn down with all of my vehicles in it; I had a bad motorcycle accident that took off a whole bunch of skin from my forearm... just bad luck. It's been a fierce past couple of years."

Other songtitles set to appear on "Indestructible" include "The Night", "Run", "Deceiver", "Enough" and "Torn". There's also the title track, which Draiman calls "an anthem for soldiers" — specifically American soldiers fighting overseas. "It's meant to be something that would make them feel invincible, take away their fear, make them strong," Draiman told RollingStone.com. "And that's what this whole body of work on this record does. It's music to help you feel strong."

DISTURBED will be out with SLIPKNOT and other bands on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour later this year.

We’ve been sitting on it for a while, so now people outside our circle of friends have a chance to hear the new music. Lyrically, “Absent Are The Saints” is about how some people pray for and wait for change it rather than making it happen themselves. It’s about being proactive about changing your life.”

The band has been hinting in interviews that this is its heaviest CD yet, and singer David Draiman told The Pulse of Radio that he hasn't changed his opinion. "This record is definitely a very ferocious record," he said. "It has a lot of textures to it. It is certainly the darkest one that we've seen in quite some time. It's the darkest and heaviest since (debut album) 'The Sickness', there's no question about it. And it takes it past 'The Sickness' on a number of different levels."

Disturbed Post New Song Teaser Online

A short audio sample of a new DISTURBED song, entitled "Perfect Insanity", has been posted on the group's MySpace page. The track is expected to appear on the band's fourth studio album, "Indestructible", due in late May via Reprise/Warner Bros.

The group is reportedly working on a number of promotional ideas to support the record. Singer David Draiman, a strong proponent of making music a purely digital product, told The Pulse of Radio that the band will nevertheless add a lot of extra features to the CD.

"I definitely am all for any record companies being as aggressive as they can about moving towards just completely digital-based media," he said. "But we will continue to try and do things, and we're still going to do things this record cycle as well, to try and make it where there's a reason to buy it that's beyond what we're doing just musically."
