Sacrifice Comments On Split With Propagandhi

Exclaim.ca has issued the following announcement about Canada's Sacrifice releasing an upcoming split with Propagandhi:

"Some more details have surfaced regarding the much-ballyhooed Propagandhi and Sacrifice split seven-inch. As we reported back in August, the record will contain Propagandhi's cover of Corrosion of Conformity's hardcore/metal crossover classic "Technocracy" and Sacrifice's take on "Anthem," Rush's classic piece of Canadian prog rock. Word has dropped that this little slice of punk/metal heaven now has a release date and the suitably awesome cover art has been unveiled.

"The record, which is limited to 1,000 copies, is due out December 10 through Winnipeg's War on Music Records. The label will be taking pre-orders on their website in a couple of weeks. For the time being, you can email them directly at waronmusicrecords@gmail.com to place a pre-order. The cover art, as seen here, pays awesome homage to iconic Rush and Corrosion of Conformity album covers, and was hand-drawn by Propagandhi bassist/vocalist Todd Kowalski."

Sacrifice Reveals New Album Cover Artwork

Sacrifice has issued the following update about the cover artwork for their new album:

"Our recording process was real, so we didn’t feel comfortable going too far into the digital realm for the cover. Our old friend Kurt Bachman from Believer got us in touch with Michael “Roz” Rosner, who does nothing but absolutely stunning work. Roz was into letting technology assist in creating art, not take over, and that is the same approach we take to music. Check out www.eyelevelstudio.com , Roz can make an image look beautiful, yet ugly; human yet inhuman, all awesome, unique imagery. The eye level studio team took our ideas and gave us a great cover.

"Marquee Records will be releasing the full album, and also a bonus edition with extra tracks and a slipcase."

The track listing for the album will be as follows:

1. We Will Prevail
2. The Ones I Condemn
3. Give Me Justice
4. The Great Wall
5. Tetragrammaton
6. Atrocity
7. Hiroshima
8. The Devil's Martyr
9. Ultimate Power Corrupts
10. Desolation Alive

The Bonus Edition will also include:

Anthem (Rush Cover)
Burned At The Stake (Rerecording 2009)
The Entity (Rerecording 2009)

Sacrifice Completes New Album

Canadian thrash metal veterans Sacrifice has announced that they have finished work on their new studio album, "The Ones I Condemn." A message from the band reads as follows:

"We began in late December, and ended this week. Our final mix is now complete. Don’t be deceived by the three month time span, in reality we didn’t take much more studio time than we had in the past…it was just spread out a lot more. Everything went the way we planned and the final product exceeds the expectations that we came into the studio with. Thanks to everyone at Rouge Valley Studio, Gerry, Alex, Steve and lastly, Darius who helped us achieve our sonic visions, went in to this project with his heart and soul into it as much as ours. A great engineer to work with.

"Thank you to both Jed Simon (ZIMMERS HOLE, TENET, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, ARMOROS) for laying down a total whammy bar barrage, and our old Scarborough metal comrade Dave Hewson (SLAUGHTER, STRAPPADO) for lending some guest vocals to 'The Devils Martyr'.

"Like to wish PROPAGANDHI good luck on their tour for their newly released CD, Supporting Caste. We were all extremely shocked when we first heard “The Banger’s Embrace", a song about our reunion show in 2006 here in Toronto. What a tribute, thanks guys!!!"

Sacrifice To Begin Tracking New Album In December

Sacrifice vocalist/guitarist Rob Urbinati has posted the following message online:

"It has been a while since we've updated the blog!

"We are extremely excited to say we have booked studio time in December, to begin tracking our new album which we have titled The Ones I Condemn. Until then, we will be getting the songs as tight as possible, because we will be miking the drums without samples and without click tracks to sound human, and really feel the fury of the new tracks. We may post some demo stuff here soon.

"Our DVD artwork is being finalized and hopefully before 2008 is over you will see Live ReAnimation available on our website.

"This is the complete reunion show shot in Toronto, 2006, with some bonus material."

Former Sacrifice Manager Passes Away

Toronto metal icon Ray "Black Metal" Wallace has passed away after being in a coma following a brain aneurysm he suffered on November 15.

Ray managed SACRIFICE in the '80s/'90s and had close ties to Canadian metal legends ANVIL and RAZOR. He was also a local promoter, most recently organizing the original Rock 'N' Roll Heaven reunion party, and was working with Toronto's all-girl powerhouse SCARLET SINS.

Toronto music publicist Paula Danylevich, who had been a friend of Ray's for many years, has issued the following statement:

"It is with an extremely heavy heart and tears in my eyes that I deliver to all of Ray's friends the news we had all hoped we would never hear.

"At midnight tonight, Ray's mother, aunt and cousin, joined by nine of his friends including myself and the chaplin from Toronto Western Hospital held hands around Ray's bedside and prayed one last time for our friend and then said our final goodbyes. We popped the cork on a bottle of champagne and raised a glass to Ray in the waiting room as they prepared him for his journey.

"At 12:15am today Ray was taken to the operating room so that he could give the gift of life to MANY people. His organs will save many lives, something we know Ray would have wanted. He was the most selfless, giving person I have ever met.

"Arrangements for Ray's funeral will be announced shortly. Anyone wishing to donate to Ray's family in their time of need can find information on the 'Donations' thread on the 'ALL RIGHT THERE BLACK METAL' Facebook page or by emailing me directly at gr8pr@aol.com.

"For those of you who were unaware, Ray was the only person supporting his family and had recently moved home to take care of his mother and brother. His father, who suffered a stroke some time ago, has been in a nursing home since last year, and Ray was covering the expenses for this as well. Any donation amount will be so gladly appreciated by the Wallace family.

"I would like to extend my personal thanks to the 80+ friends who visited Ray over the past few days to support his family and to say their goodbyes. Ray's mother was comforted by the fact he had so many good friends.

"I would also like to personally thank the hospital staff in the ICU at Toronto Western Hospital, who were so supportive and flexible with the needs of his family and friends. The nursing staff were also amazed by the number of friends who supported his family. When his attending nurse asked me yesterday if Ray was a rock star, I just looked at him and smiled.

"God bless Raymond 'Black Metal' Wallace. He was one of a kind. He'll no doubt be running Heaven in no time! My heart is with all of you at this sad time."
