Returning home after 15 hours travelling from Holland, a tired but very happy Davide of Ephel Duath said:
"Our new drummer Sergio Ponti has been astonishing. We are happy we have the fourth Ephel Duath. Sergio Ponti made his debut with us on 28th September he's a fresh talent and he's pushing our sound to new exciting rhythmical perspectives.
Here's some information about our new percussionist: he studied with Mokhtar Samba (Yousson N'Dour,Salif Keita, Richard Bona, Jean Luc Ponty) and Jay Dittamo (Band From Utopia, Junoon). He has played with Mike Keneally (solo artist, Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Robert Fripp), Arthur Barrow (Zappa, Giorgio Moroder, Diana Ross, Joe Cocker), Ian Anderson, SFOM Orchestra, Bernardo Lanzetti (PFM) and many others.
He played in two editions of the Los Angeles's NAMM show. He organized clinic tours for Ellade Bandini, Marco Minnemann, Clive Bunker and Horacio Hernandez. Welcome Sergio!"

THE BERZERKER and Italy's seminal EPHEL DUATH are set to reap extreme carnage on DAMNATION FESTIVAL in Manchester come October 15th 2006. They'll be joined by MADMAN IS ABSOLUTE and MAN MUST DIE on the phenomenal Terrorizer Stage - and with AXIS OF PERDITION already confirmed, the line-up is shaping up to be the UK's finest bill of extreme metal noise in 2006.
Having shed their gruesome face masks, The Berzerker are ready to show Manchester just how serious they are - expect punishing noise as Luke Kenny and co. bring their "World of Lies" album to life in a death metal frenzy that'll guarantee a "last man standing" mindset in the Damnation moshpit.
Blending, somehow perfectly, both jazz and black metal, Ephel Duath have for years delighted Italian home crowds and European metal fans alike - their addition, a UK festival exclusive, highlights the wide variety of extreme noise that Damnation aims to forcefully inject into Manchester's music scene come October 15th 2006.
Guitarist Davide Tiso says the band "invite Manchester to join the asynchronous dance."
Madman Is Absolute, meanwhile, promise "Full on pit mayhem orchestrated by four angry Scotsmen - Manchester will be reduced to ruins!" - a sentiment echoed by fellow countrymen Man Must Die, who simply said "Let's make this one festival to remember. You want extreme, you got it!"
While Satan's favourites do the dirty deed downstairs, the Jagermeister stage of Jilly's Rockworld will play host to STAMPIN' GROUND, BIOMECHANICAL, SEND MORE PARAMEDICS and MURDER ONE, along with serious UK talent in the shape of muscle monsters HEAD-ON, thrashers EVILE and London lads KINGSIZE BLUES.
Festival spokesman, Gavin McInally, said: "The Bezerker, Ephel Duath, Stampin' Ground, Murder One, Biomechanical, Send More Paramedics and both headliners still to be announced... no self-respecting metaller can afford to miss this feast of extreme music!"
TICKETS for the second installment of UK-focused metal will go on sale APRIL 3rd, priced £15, and will be available from Ticketline, Seetickets, and direct from Jilly's Rockworld and Music Box. For further information about the event visit damnationfestival.co.uk or e-mail email@example.com.
Italian jazz-metal combo EPHEL DUATH have announced the addition of drummer Andrea Rabuini to the group's touring lineup. The group were recently forced to cancel their previously announced U.K. headlining tour "due to organizational problems." In the meantime, the band are arranging a few dates in Italy to test out their new material.
EPHEL DUATH's new album, "Pain Necessary to Know", is scheduled for release in Europe today (October 31) via Elitist/Earache Records. The follow-up to "The Painter's Palette" was recorded at Studio 73 in Ravenna, Italy with producer Paso.
Italy's Ephel Duath have cancelled their proposed UK tour. The cancellation is is due to what are described as 'organisational problems'.
Italy's Ephel Duath will be in the studio in February recording their next album. The group expects to finish tracking drums, bass, and guitar by March 9th, with vocal and brass recording to begin on March 20th. The album is titled "Pain Necessary To Know," and will (tentatively) include the following tracks:
No Refrain And A Cigarette
Vector ? Second Movement
Vector - Third Movement
I Killed Rebeccah
Here's what Ephel Duath founder Davide Tiso says about the new songs:
"I'm so proud of the new material. It has been my first thought in this year and half of composition and recording... it means also close a circle. I'm a little bit nervous, sometimes it scares me. In these months I've tortured my mind with thousand of questions, doubts, and worries. But after this [recent] tour, my mind seems to be clearer and my enthusiasm, if it is possible, [has] grown. Now a silence... we'll return soon with a noisy present for you."
