Horse the Band has issued the following update about releasing a six DVD set from their Earth Tour:
"EARTH TOUR Photo Book/6-DVD Set Preliminary Info This thing is happening and it is happening soon. Preliminary details:
"15 hours (our goal) of HD footage, taken from 120 hours of raw footage resulting in 6 DVDs showing the countries we visited, the people we met, the shows we played, what we drank and ate, everything crazy and funny and sad that happened, and most importantly, us. Think of this not as a DVD or movie, but more like a novel in video form. Something you spend a lot of time with to reap a greater artistic reward for your soul. A Rock Odyssey, but something even greater, as Rock is only one of many parts of the equation!
"1 live DVD: Every song we played on tour, each song's footage and audio comes from a different show in a different country. The DVDs will be nestled into the back cover of a hard-cover full color photo book. This will be either 50 or 100 pages. It's going to be 8 1/2" by 11" so it's big but still fits on your bookshelf. The books will be one of a kind with actual tour artifacts (ticket stubs, fliers, plane tickets) incorporated (sewn, pasted) into each. The books will be hand-bound (professionally, it will NOT fall apart, they will look and feel exactly like any book you buy in a store, quality-wise) and will be very beautiful and special items. Horse The Band has issued the following statement about touring Africa:
"HORSE the band Reigns in Africa Tour. YES, a Toto reference turned into a spelling joke with a tri-fold meaning. We are touring Africa. Not just two fly-in shows in South Africa. We are driving around the whole country for 17 days bitch. We are playing 12 shows. We are playing in Mozambique. The dates are posted.
"As primarily 15-48 year-old Americans, you probably don't even know where Mozambique is. It is possibly not even a real place. But we are touring there, and people will be at the show. No AIDS jokes. We will not be doing any press for this tour. Actually, we are never going to do any press ever again. Feels lonely... having no peers. No one's living at the top. No one's at the fucking bottom.
"T-shirt ideas for tour: Meet me in Mozambique. (Circa Survive joke shirt) I'm in Maputo bitch. (I'm in Miami Bitch joke shirt) :DDDDDDDDDDD We are very excited and grateful for this experience."
Horse The Band's upcoming tour dates are as follows: More...

Acclaimed post-hardcore heavy rockers Norma Jean has signed with Razor & Tie and is planning a 2010 album release. The band will headline the "Explosions 2009" US tour in late November through December. Norma Jean will play their breakthrough album "Bless The Martyr and Kiss the Child" in its entirety on select dates. This is the band's first headlining trek since the Fall of last year and boasts an impressive lineup of Horse The Band, The Chariot and Arsonists Get All The Girls.
In January Norma Jean will head into the studio to record a new album for a 2010 summer release.
Cory Brandan of Norma Jean comments, "If we didn't sign to Razor & Tie, I think we would have gone on a killing spree, with no regard for life or limb. I think for the first time in our career, upon presenting our ideas, we get to hear the word "yes" more often. It's like discovering an unknown tribe on a distant island. Except we're the tribe and we don't know your language. Plus we have spears and swords and we're cannibals. Either way, we're insanely animated about R&T showing up and want to try on their Nike Air Jordans."

Vagrant Records announces an October 6, 2009 release date for "Desperate Living," the fourth full-length from Southern California's Horse The Band. The twelve-track set was recorded at White Buffalo Studios in Los Angeles with producer Noah Shain and includes several special guests.
"Noah really cared about helping us get exactly the sound and feel we wanted on the record," said keyboardist Erik Engstrom. "We also have incredible guests on the record like classical pianist Valentina Lisitsa. She plays a Prokofiev piece (composed 100 years ago after his best friend shot himself in the face with a pistol) at the end of 'Rape Escape' which is possibly the most powerful song we've ever written. I'm a huge fan of hers and this is the first recording of her playing this piece of music –it's absolutely devastating." More...
Horse The Band has issued the following statement about signing to Vagrant Records:
"Southern California’s metaphysical DIY badasses HORSE THE BAND have signed to Vagrant Records. The oft-misunderstood band of horses is currently writing material for their fourth full-length with plans to enter the studio in March. A mid-summer release is expected.
“Finally we can breathe as humans breathe, walk as humans walk,” says vocalist Nathan Winneke. “Band as horses band,” chimes in drummer Daniel Pouliot. Keyboardist Erik Engstrom comments, “Vagrant Records has been home to so many of our favorite bands. Now (9, 8, and 7 years after I sent them our first, second, and third demos respectively) the label has renewed their holy vows to ‘excellence’ by signing us.” More...
Los Angeles "Nintencore" act Horse The Band will be recording a new album in March. The band issued the following year end update:
Hello. Go and make yourself a cup of hot cocoa and get a mild inhalant from the garage. Do your little set up. Put on sweat pants.
We're about to sign to a new label! A real one. Soon. I think it is a good home for us. It has other bands that we like and a super-legit history of other bands that we LOVE. Can you guess it? Dash left but we already talked about that :_( We are doing experiments in our practice space with amplifiers and keyboards. For now Brian from Thriller is going to do Soundwave with us on bass. After that we'll see. If you play bass feel free to email us. But we're not really "looking" right now.
For the first time in like 7 years me, David, and Nathan all live 5 minutes away from each other again, so we're seeing each other a lot and sharing all our ideas like we used to back in the demo days. And we're writing a new album right now! I think it's going to turn out really good cause when we see each other we have been becoming a hive consciousness. So weird when it happens, we are just sitting there actually it's totally insane! Being a hive. I mean. It's like ants do that. And bees. So weird you guys. We're supposed to record it in March and release it worldwide in late May/early June. Here is the most insane part, I emailed Jamie Stewart from Xiu Xiu and it looks like (not for sure yet) he is going to be producing. More...

Horse The Band has uploaded their new video for the song "Murder" online. You can check it out below.
Director Gary Lachance says: "The video was filmed live in Belgrade, Serbia midway through Horse's Earth Tour which was self-funded, self-booked and traversed 45 countries in 90 days. The show was packed with crazed Serbians power drinkers who, before entering, had chugged innumerable 3-liter bottles of beer and gorged themselves on 5 pound hamburgers. They had come from far and wide. These were rural wildmen.. hill people. The venue was a cramped, smoky dungeon, with an overflowing bathroom, no security, terrible sound and a tiny stage that emptied onto a slimy concrete staircase, which was to serve as a battleground for the hundred or so fanatics in attendance. Things were looking good. And from the first note, it was nonstop anarchy, a heaving tangle of violence and hilarity as brutish men and merciless women performed a dance of death, hurling themselves and their opponents to the floor, crushing each other in 20-something dogpiles, tearing steel fences from the floor, destroying the few functioning light fixtures, removing their clothes, and coming dangerously close to ruining Horse's equipment and ending the tour." Horse The Band have announced Daniel Pouliot (known for his work with Bleeding Kansas) as their new drummer.
Also, keyboardist Erik Engstrom has founded a new organisation called Stay Human which describes itself as “a sect dedicated to the preservation of humanity in its organic form and the art it creates. At its inception the sect has first taken issue with Bluetooth headsets and any other technologies that signal the beginning of direct implantation of hardware into the human body. A full multi-media war against bluetooth headsets has been started with BluetoothIsAnAbomination.com, a burgeoning nation-wide street team, covert propaganda placement, viral web video, and t-shirts which insult users of bluetooth headsets. Long term goals include the prevention of the realization of the Singularity and a general resistance to nanotechnology, smarter-than-human artificial intelligence, and other increasingly dangerous industries.”
