Demon Hunter Comments On Bin Laden Raid

Demon Hunter has issued a statement about a recent Esquire article dealing with the member of the Seal team who reportedly shot and killed Osama Bin Laden wearing a Demon Hunter patch during the raid on Bin Laden's compound. The band comments:

"As you can imagine, our inboxes and phones (and those of our representatives) have been flooded with messages asking us how we feel about the Esquire article on the raid that brought Osama Bin Laden to justice that began circulating yesterday. Specifically, the person identified in the story as 'The Shooter' said that Seal Team 6 wore the Demon Hunter emblem on their uniforms and 'I wore it when I blasted Bin Laden.'

"Over the years, we have been overwhelmed by the personal (and unofficial) emails and letters we've received from members of the US military. We have been humbled and honored by the troops who've told us our music has offered them some comfort while overseas, while missing loved ones, while doing what they do best in order to keep America safe and protect the freedoms we enjoy. We've met many servicemen and women at our shows and they've shared their stories with us in person, as well. We wrote 'The Soldier's Song' back in 2005 to pay tribute to these folks who've reached out to us. We included one such veteran among the Demon Hunter fans we profiled in our documentary film, 45 Days.

"We have seen our symbol, a demon skull with a bullet hole in its forehead, tattooed on fans around the world. We've seen it made into sculptures, painted onto motorcycles, even spray-painted onto tanks and military planes. We often post these pictures on our Facebook page when we receive them. One such email, a few years ago, came from a special operations team who had crafted homemade Demon Hunter patches and put them on their uniforms. They asked us if it was OK if they did this and we of course told them 'YES' because we are unapologetic supporters of our troops. In the last 24 hours, we have come to believe this team who contacted us a few years ago must have been Seal Team 6. More...

Demon Hunter Streaming New Song

As a final teaser before the release of the band's sixth album, Demon Hunter is now premiering "Wake," taken from the forthcoming "True Defiance," available in stores and online tomorrow, April 10th, on Solid State Records.

"'Wake' is another song that explores all the best elements of the band," explains mastermind Ryan Clark. "It's very riff heavy, vocally melodic, extremely aggressive, grooving, and features some of the best drumming on the record. This song takes what some might consider the standard Demon Hunter vocal structure and flips it- the verses are melodic singing, and the screaming takes place in the chorus. I think those tweaks in the structure make it a unique DH song."

"Lyrically, it's about a person's fear of the unknown... or the coming to terms with one's mortality and spiritual life... digging deeper that a daily surface existence or 'waking' out of the ritualistic/mundane day-to-day."

Check out the song "Wake" by heading over to this location. The new album's track listing is as follows:

1. Crucifix
2. God Forsaken
3. My Destiny
4. Wake
5. Tomorrow Never Comes
6. Someone To Hate
7. This I Know
8. Means To An End
9. We Don’t Care
10. Resistance
11. Dead Flowers

Demon Hunter Streaming New Track

On the heels of last week's debut of "My Destiny" - the first video from the band's sixth album, "True Defiance" - Demon Hunter is now unveiling a third track today, a little more than two weeks from the "True Defiance" April 10th release on Solid State Records.

"Dead Flowers" puts Demon Hunter's mellower side on full display in the form of a darkly melancholic ballad. Listen to the song in the player below.

"'Dead Flowers' is a really special song to me and I'm extremely pleased with how it turned out," explains frontman Ryan Clark. "It was the last song I wrote for the record, and it really came to life in the studio. I think the lyrics on this song are my favorite on the album because there are so many different ways to interpret them. I think it's destined to become a classic DH ballad, up there with 'My Heartstrings Come Undone,' 'One Thousand Apologies' and 'Carry Me Down.' I think fans are really going to love this song." Demon Hunter Premieres "My Destiny" Video

Today Demon Hunter is pleased to be unveiling the official video for "My Destiny," filmed by director Robby Starbuck, whose credits range from Otep and August Burns Red to Smashing Pumpkins and Snoop Dog. "My Destiny" is off the new album "True Defiance," due out April 10th, 2012.

"The storyline follows five teenagers as they try to make the most of their dull suburb community – skateboarding, hanging with friends, stirring up trouble, discovering music together. This was how a lot of us in the band grew up," explains frontman Ryan Clark. "For the performance footage, we wanted to do something that hinted at the 'early days' of being in a band – rehearsing in a tiny, grungy practice space, inspirational posters on the wall, fluorescent lights overhead, minimal space, and lots of sweat."

"'My Destiny' is about growing up and finding music that ultimately changes you," Clark adds. "It's about that definitive moment that I knew music would become an immeasurable part of my life." More...

Demon Hunter recently offered fans a first taste of what is to come on the new album "True Defiance" with the track "Someone To Hate." Now, the band is also giving fans a unique opportunity to put their own spin on the song via a remix contest hosted by online music creation site Indaba Music.

Indaba’s 650,000-strong community of musicians can now download the individual vocal, guitar, bass, drum, synth, and other tracks that make up “Someone to Hate” and use them to create their own remix. Demon Hunter Streaming New Song

With less than a month until the release of Demon Hunter's new album, "True Defiance," the band is unleashing a second taste of what's in store for new and old fans alike with the track "My Destiny." Check out the song at this location.

"'My Destiny' is definitely one of my favorite tracks on the new album," explains Demon Hunter frontman Ryan Clark. "It shows just how much the band has progressed over the years. Like many traditional Demon Hunter tunes, it has a little bit of everything, and I think it flows really well through both heavy and melodic territories. My favorite parts are the guitar harmonies in the verses and how the chorus moves - the way the chords combine with the vocal melody is really interesting to me. I think fans are really going to dig this song."

"True Defiance" was produced by Aaron Sprinkle (ANBERLIN, EMERY) and mixed by Jason Suecoff (ALL THAT REMAINS, TRIVIUM). "We've been extremely underwhelmed with metal for the last five years or so, and that's been the fuel to create this record," Clark explains. "With an extreme over-saturation of false, fleeting, trend-hopping noise in today's metal scene, we had to make something we've been longing to hear. Something truly meaningful and artistic. Something our fans would love and something that will turn the heads of those who have ignored us for the past decade." More...

Demon Hunter Streaming New Song

With six weeks to go until the release of the new album, "True Defiance," Demon Hunter is giving fans a first taste of the new set with the debut of the track "Someone To Hate." Check out the song here. The band's publicist issued the following statement:

"A circle pit-inducing rampage with a thrash backbone, the dynamic 'Someone To Hate' finds Demon Hunter taking their music's most beloved aspects and pushing them to bold and exciting extremes. The track is an apt first impression of what lies in store for fans with the April 10 release of True Defiance, the band's sixth album in 10 years."

"'Someone To Hate' feels like a perfect first-glimpse at the new record," says Demon Hunter frontman Ryan Clark. "At one point we were even debating on it being the album opener. It's definitely a thrash song, but with a Demon Hunter twist. I think fans will dig it because it has a lot of classic DH elements, but it really pushes each of those elements to the max. It's fast, it's mean, it's unapologetic... but of course, it has moments of melody as well." More...
