Demon Hunter Comments On Upcoming Album
Demon Hunter has issued the following announcement about finishing working on a new album:
“This record is without a doubt our most aggressive. Every Demon Hunter record must be a step up from the last. I know that’s a goal for every band, but it seldom works that way - especially today, especially in metal. It seems like most bands’ prime years are long behind them. I refuse to let that be the case for us.
“We’ve been extremely underwhelmed with metal for the last five years or so, and that’s been the fuel to create this record. With an extreme over-saturation of false, fleeting, trend-hopping noise in today’s metal scene, we had to make something we’ve been longing to hear. Something truly meaningful and artistic. Something our fans would love and something that will turn the heads of those who have ignored us for the past decade.”
The new Demon Hunter album sees the band returning to producer Aaron Sprinkle (Anberlin, Emery) and mixer Jason Suecoff (All That Remains, Trivium) with a collection of songs emphasizing the band’s strongest components: true metal, dark rock and balladry.
Ryan Clark, Tim “Yogi” Watts (drums), Jonathan Dunn (bass) and Patrick Judge (lead guitar) are now joined by their longtime friend Jeremiah Scott (guitar), whose credits as a metal musician (The Showdown) and producer (Living Sacrifice) are well established.
Demon Hunter has already lined up live dates for 2012, which include:
APRIL 27 - SEATTLE, WA @ EL CORAZON
APRIL 30 - KOUVOLA, FINLAND @ VAPPUGOSPEL
The new Demon Hunter album is tentatively scheduled for an April release through longtime label home Solid State.
Demon Hunter Guitarist Leaves The Band
Demon Hunter guitarist Ryan Helm has announced that he has decided to part ways with the group. Acccording to a statement released by Helm‘s management, the guitarist’s departure, "was inevitable; however, it was on good terms." He plans to primarily focus on his solo project, Damien Deadson, which will release its debut album in January 2012. Helm joined Demon Hunter in 2009, replacing guitarist Don Clark, and performed on the bands latest studio album, "The World Is A Thorn."
Demon Hunter Posts "LifeWar" Video
Demon Hunter has posted a new music video online for the song "LifeWar," which is taken off "The World Is A Thorn," available in stores and online now on Solid State Records. Check out the video clip below.
"The World Is A Thorn" digital deluxe edition is due out tomorrow. The edition includes the band's music video for "Collapsing," and four acoustic tracks including the never-before-heard cover of the Alice In Chains track "Down In A Hole."
Throwdown Announces "Brawloween" Tour Lineup
Throwdown has revealed a slew of new details surrounding the band's upcoming "Brawloween" tour happening later this month. The band has announced the following touring lineup which is comprised of both familiar faces as well as some guests:
DAVE PETERS (vocals) (Throwdown 2000 - present)
MARK MITCHELL (bass) (Throwdown 2007 - present)
DAVE NASSIE (guitar) (Bleeding Through / ex-No Use For A Name)
TIM "YOGI" WATTS (drums) (Demon Hunter, ex-The Showdown)
Front man Dave Peters comments, "I can't say I love having a chronically fragmented lineup for Throwdown, but it does leave the door open for cool opportunities like this. I'm VERY happy to be playing these shows with Yogi and Nassie as 'special guests' or whatever you want to call them under the circumstances. They're great guys and equally great musicians. It will be a cool thing for fans of the three bands too, as it's hard to say if or when we'd share a stage in the future. The only drawback is running the risk of them setting the sound bar too high for the next time we play in our backyard."
Throwdown will headline the first annual "Brawloween," a brand new tour event which will stretch across the West Coast with support from Carnifex, First Blood, and Suffokate. Details are as follows:
10/21 - San Diego, CA @ Soma
10/22 - Bakersfield, CA @ Jerrys Pizza
10/23 - Anaheim, CA @ Chain Reaction
10/24 - Tucson, AZ @ Skrappy's
10/25 - Phoenix, AZ @ Underground
10/26 - Las Vegas, NV @ Hard Rock Cafe
10/27 - Reno, NV @ The Alley
10/28 - Sacramento, CA @ The Boardwalk
10/29 - Temecula, CA @ The Vault
10/30 - Long Beach, CA @ Shore Ultra Lounge
10/31 - Canoga Park, CA @ Cobalt Cafe
Demon Hunter Working On New Album
American heavy metal outfit Demon Hunter has announced that the band has begun working on material for the next studio album, which the act has also confirmed will be produced by Aaron Sprinkle. The record will be released through Solid State, with whom the group has re-signed.
Speaking on the new deal and forthcoming album, frontman Ryan Clark stated:
"Solid State has always been an important part of Demon Hunter. They helped market the band before we'd even started writing our first record and they continue to push the band further with each new album. From the very beginning, Solid State has allowed Demon Hunter to do things our own unique way and they've become a vital part of the band's existence. Re-signing was a no-brainer for us.
"We're knee-deep in the writing process and the songs are sounding as intense as ever. We've always made an effort to stay true to our sound, but we like to push the boundaries of that blueprint with each release. These new songs have a lot of varying influences: from Viking metal to classic thrash; grooving 90's rock to stompy hardcore. Our goal, as it is with each record, is to blend these influences into one cohesive but unique Demon Hunter album."
