On Sunday, February 13th, Chilean death metallers Thornafire will share the stage with Pestilence, Vulcano, and nearly 40 others as part of the Macabre Fest II in Concón on the coast of Chile. In preparation for the festival, Thornafire will join Pentagram for a pair of shows in Santiago and the port city of Valparaiso. The details are as follows:

Regarding the follow up to 2009's "Vorex Deconstrucción," Thornafire guitarist Victor Mac-Namara states, "Currently we are writing music a little different than what we have done in the past. It's a variation, but still true to our underground Death Metal underground roots. I'm drawing concepts for the album artwork. We hope to have this released by 2012."
Thornafire also recently posted a new music video online for the song "Deconstruccion," which can be viewed here.
Norway's Dodheimsgard and California's Exhumed are the latest acts to be confirmed for the upcoming 2011 edition of the Inferno Festival. Pentagram founding members Bobby Liebling and Victor Griffin have commented on its recent signing with Metal Blade Records.
Bobby Liebling said:
"I reflect on how Pentagram is coming into its 40th year and how it finally feels like we are entering into the major leagues. With Metal Blade now at our side, it feels like we made the World Series! I'll quote John Lennon from 'A Hard Day's Night' and ask the loyal rivetheads out there, 'Did we pass the audition?'"
Victor Griffin commented by saying:
"Neither Bobby nor myself ever imagined we'd play together again. It's an honor to be reunited and celebrate the 40th anniversary of Pentagram, and the 30th anniversary of our musical relationship with a new album on Metal Blade Records! As always, we did it our way…thanks for making us survivors!"
Pentagram will release its new album, "Last Rites," in the spring of 2011.
Brooklyn, New York based act Hull has announced an upcoming live show this January opening for Pentagram. The performance will take place at Brooklyn's Club Europa on January 6th, 2011. Additional support will come from Judas Priestess and Bezoar. Hull commented:
"This year being the first of the future, twenty-ten, it marks the starting point of a whole new century of sonic learning that we can't even begin to imagine. Twenty-eleven has been foretold to perhaps even melt the faces of those who aren't listening to the learning. The first of these twelve or seventy-three different events to mark the future will fall upon the sixth day of twenty-eleven at eight of the clock, when the bare moon is halved and then thrice cloven, thus appearing to be full.
"For those who would stand proud and open their ears to this gift, it is said it may be witnessed on the continent of Europa during the season of the Pentagram, when the Judas Priestess battles the mighty Bezoar they pilot an oaken Hull through Hell... Citizens! Come! Look into the bright light of the future and hear the words of the universe! More...
MetalSucks.net recently spoke with Pentagram front man Bobby Liebling, who shared some news about the band's forthcoming album. Excerpts from the interview follow.
MS: You’re off to record the Last Rites album soon, I believe?
Bobby: I leave Wednesday morning and we start recording the album this coming Sunday night [November 21].
MS: I’m sure you’re pretty excited about it. Can you tell me a bit about the new record?
Bobby: Actually, the songs on Last Ritesare predominantly, I’d say two-thirds [of them are] songs I wrote in 1970, and if you’re familiar with any Pentagram stuff at all… you know each album is usually a sixty-forty split. Sixty percent is stuff that I did in the early ‘70s, and forty percent is collaborations and new stuff. The upcoming album is slated to have thirteen songs, but we don’t know if we’re going to be able to record all of them. We’re going to try to get it all in. It’s going to be a shorter album, but it’ll be part of a double-disc set with an hour-long live DVD from last year’s Maryland Deathfest.
MS: Is there a definite release date for it?
Bobby: No, not a definite date, but it’s scheduled to be released in early April. I was told by my superiors [laughs], as it were, that I shouldn’t talk about the record label, but I will say that we’ve got a multi-album deal and it’s with a significant, well, let’s say the largest label I’ve ever been on.More...

Florida death metal icons Malevolent Creation have been confirmed for next year's edition of the Inferno festival, set to take place April 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd, 2011 at the Rockefeller and John Dee venues in Oslo, Norway.
People turned out in droves to see the show with so many amazing bands on the bill. If they couldn’t afford to get in, they would hang outside and listen because it was just too good to miss completely. The slow, swampy, southern metal was complimented so well by the high humidity and heat of the night. Beer flowed (everywhere) and ears became numb as each of four bands took turns breaking amps.
