Pentagram Comments On Problems Entering Canada

Canadian fans hoping to see Pentagram during this upcoming tour cycle are in for a disappointment, with the band commenting:

"Pentagram deeply regret the current inability to enter Canada, a country we have all longed to play for over the band’s near 45 year existence. With hired legal counsel we attempted to connect the many dots that would legally allow a certain member(s) in the country.

"We strongly believed we had a fair chance at clearing immigration. This proved to not be the case as costs piled up along with the elusive and exhaustive required elements / proof and paperwork and an untried recent charge. The prospect of clearing immigration versus the probability of rejection at the border and all the expenses that go with that grew too great.

"The band was forced to make an educated judgement call. With the chance of entry slim, the band felt it best to cease continuing to put promoters, agents and fans on hold and keep up any false hope. This by no means should reflect on The Agency Group or promoters in Toronto, Alberta or Montreal who all tried their best to assist the band in this unfortunate dilemma.

"As the band prepares for the touring cycle of 'Curious Volume,' the new album out on August 28th, we also will continue to work on Canadian entry. Thanks are in order for all who have believe in and assisted us with against these great odds. With apologies, and a glimmer of hope, Pentagram." More...

Penatagram To Release New Album

Peaceville Records is proud to announce the re-signing of U.S. metal legend, Pentagram, for its forthcoming studio album, set to be released summer 2015. The highly influential American heavy metal/doom act, fronted by the mysterious Bobby Liebling, formed in the early 1970s, though its debut album - now known as "Relentless" - didn't see a release until 1985. Through four decades of adversity and triumph, Pentagram has become a legendary international act and has firmly stamped its name in the heavy metal history books.

Pentagram recently completed pre-production with Swedish producer, Mattias Nilsson, at studios in Baltimore, Md., D.C. and Va., with additional vocal and guitar production in Knoxville, Tenn. with Travis Wyrick. Wyrick is a Grammy Award-winning producer who produced the band's previous album, Last Rites.

The band comments on the signing: "Pentagram is happy to return to the label that helped relaunch interest in our debut album and introduce us to a new metal audience in the 1990s. Peaceville Records has been an ally to us throughout the past 20 years. We are happy to have them by our side once again as we record our fourth album under their banner. Never properly recorded songs written by Bobby in the 70s will be heard on the album as fresh as they were when they were written over 40 years ago. Brand new numbers by the core of Griffin, Turley and Liebling that were written this fall will appear along the old songs, and will produce an album that encompasses the true spirit of Pentagram. Doom is often mistaken as exclusively slow music. If you listen to our classic 'doom' album 'Relentless,' many of those doomed classics are quite fast. One of the magics of doom metal is to have a faster song seem much slower because of the sheer heaviness of the number. That's what we are going for. The band will sound like they are as much from the street as they are from the Sabbath, because, well, we are." More...

Held at the Mohawk on the historic Red River Street in Austin, Texas, American Icon Records (AIR) produced two stages featuring some of the best hard rock and heavy metal bands not only in Austin, but in the state of Texas. The Skull Recruits New Guitarist

The Skull - featuring Trouble members Eric Wagner, Jeff “Oly” Olson, and Ron Holzner in addition to Sacred Dawn's Lothar Keller – has added former Pentagram guitarist Matt Goldsborough to the group's ranks.

He will be taking over for the departing Chuck Robinson (just recruited a month ago), who has decided to step down due to his demanding professional career and, therefore, cannot commit to the The Skull's upcoming live shows.

The band comments: "Timing was perfect when we met Matt and everything just seemed to fall into place at the right time when we needed a replacement. Matt is very laid back, has a captivating stage presence, and his riffs are electrifying! If you’ve ever seen him live with Pentagram, you’ll know what we are talking about.”

The band continued, "We all understand and support Chuck’s decision. He is welcome on stage with us as a guest guitarist anytime, and we wish our brother well.”

Pentagram Announces Tour Dates, Working On Album

Victor Griffin is returning to Pentagram for live shows and a new studio album. After taking a break from Pentagram to bring Victor Griffin's In-Graved around the world, the doom metal guitar god returns to his main fold.

The realigned lineup featuring the Liebling/Griffin duo backed by Greg Turley on bass and Sean Saley on drums will embark on a tour of the West Coast area in February and March. When not touring the world, the band will be working hard on a new album for release in 2014.

Victor Griffin comments: "Time continues to teach me to expect the unexpected and never say never…at least to some things. After years of investment in Pentagram and in my relationships with Bobby Liebling, nephew Greg Turley of course, and more recently to drummer Sean Saley…the door has opened to hit the road again with my favorite dysfunctional band. We'll be starting out in the Pacific Northwest in late February, with a new album in the works plus a full tour calendar for the rest of the year and beyond. Until then…until the end!"

Vocalist and founding member Bobby Liebling adds: "Victor Griffin and I are brothers and it's a joy to be working side-by-side again. As we've stated before, the door will always be open for him and he'll always be an important part of Pentagram's Ram Family. It's great to have my partner in crime saddled up next to me on stage and the studio. He's truly one of a kind and we're ecstatic to create another classic Pentagram album!"

Pentagram would also like to extend a huge thank you to Matt Goldsborough, who's done a killer job filling in live during Victor's absence during the past year.

Pentagram Recruits New Guitarist

After months of searching and reviewing hundreds of applicants from around the world, Pentagram is excited to announce Matt Goldborough as the band's new guitarist. The following press release was issued by Metal Blade Records:

"Matt is a Philadelphia based musician, composer, and riff aficionado. Versed in many genres of music, Matt's experience outside of the heavy metal world brings a fresh yet classic approach to the band. His style hearkens back to the very origins of 'heavy metal' itself when heavy blues and psychedelic rock guitarists pioneered the genre in an attempt to harden rock and roll. This of course is exactly what Bobby Liebling and the original Pentagram line up did back in 1971.

"Having played in a bevy of bands on the East coast, Goldsborough is most recently known as part of the acclaimed Philadelphia rock band, The Great Unknown.

"His debut with the Ram Family, rounded out by Bobby Liebling on vocals, Greg Turley on bass guitar and Sean Saley on drums, was on April 16th, 2013 at the sold out show at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, NY. If that gig wasn't special enough, the band performed songs not heard live in over 40 years! Inspired by a demand from the fans, Liebling and company pulled out rare gems, including 'Be Forewarned.' This track and more can be viewed now at Metalinjection.net."

Welcome Matt Goldsborough and Pentagram throughout the summer at the following appearances:

04/25 Berlin, DE Astra Desertfest 2013
04/26 Barroselas, PT Barrosela Metalfest XVI
04/28 London, UK Electric Ballroom Desertfest 2013
