Sabaton Comments On Album Re-Issue

Sabaton is re-releasing the band's first four albums for the first time as non-imports in North America on April 14th, 2011. The band has now announced the details for the re-release of 2008's "The Art of War (Re-Armed)."

Sabaton assist Pär Sundström discusses his relationship to Sun Tzu’s classic book of war strategy, his best memory from The Art Of War recording sessions, and why he believes “Cliffs Of Gallipoli” has secured its place in the band’s live set:

“The Art Of War album is based upon and inspired by the book - or war manual - written by Sun Tzu. We carefully read through the book which describes strategies in war and then tried to find actual events where the strategies from the book were used. It was a lot of work, but very interesting. My personal best memory from the recording sessions is that the song ‘The Price Of A Mile’ just appeared out of nowhere. The song was not intended to be part of the album, but I am glad it became a part of it. The song ‘Cliffs Of Gallipoli’ is definitively one of SABATON’s strongest songs, both due to the musical part but also to the lyrical part. We were also invited to Gallipoli where we learned the history of this battle during the First World War on location, which made the song even more emotional for us.”

The track listing for The Art Of War (Re-Armed) is as follows:

1. Sun Tzu Says
2. Ghost Division
3. The Art Of War
4. 40:1
5. Unbreakable
6. The Nature Of Warfare
7. Cliffs Of Gallipoli
8. Talvisota
9. Panzerkampf
10. Union (Slopes Of St. Benedict)
11. The Price Of A Mile
12. Firestorm
13. A Secret

Bonus Tracks:
14. Swedish Pagans
15. Glorious Land
16. Art Of War (Pre Production Demo)
17. Swedish National Anthem (Live at Sweden Rock Festival)

Sabaton Announces "Metalizer" Re-Issue

After previously announcing the track listing for the re-issues of "Primo Victoria and "Attero Dominatus," Sabaton has now revealed the track listing for the re-release of "Metalizer."

Available for the first time in North America as non-imports, Sabaton’s first four full-length albums will be re-issued by Nuclear Blast on April 14th, 2011. 2007’s "Metalizer (Re-Armed)," will include four bonus tracks (one live track, a demo track, and a Judas Priest cover) plus a bonus CD of the complete demo track collection for band’s first recording effort, Fist For Fight.

Sabaton bassist Pär Sundström commented on the album:

“When we recorded Metalizer, we had some songs that were written in the studio. ‘7734’ was one of them. The song is basically a hymn about the battle of metalheads which are - in the beginning - few in number and they finally become 7,734. We saw the number written on a calculator upside down which spelled ‘HELL,’ so we named it that way. Also during the recording sessions for Metalizer, we were asked to do a few cover songs. We did (amongst a few others) the cover of Judas Priest’s ‘Jawbreaker,’ which was one of the songs we felt we could do well and still keep the original touch of it. The day before we entered the studio to start recording ‘Fist For Fight,’ I remember sitting at Joakim’s place and having some beers. That evening, the song ‘Hellrider’ was written simply by chance since it was not intended to be recorded. ‘Hellrider’ then became a standing song in all the future live sets of SABATON and even today, we play it.”

The track listing for Metalizer (Re-Armed) is as follows:

1. Hellrider
2 .Thundergods
3. Metalizer
4. Shadows
5. Burn Your Crosses
6. 7734
7. Endless Nights
8. Hail To The King
9. Thunderstorm

Sabaton Announces Track Listing For Album Re-Issue

Available for the first time in North America as non-imports, Sabaton’s first four full-length albums will be re-issued by Nuclear Blast on April 14th, 2011. Sabaton had previously announced the track listing for the reissue of "Primo Victoria" at this location. 2006’s "Attero Dominatus (Re-Armed)" will also be re-issued with five bonus tracks, a demo track, plus two covers songs. Sabaton bassist Pär Sundström has issued the following statement about the release:

"For Sabaton’s second release, we decided once again to work with Tommy Tägtgren. This time we came more prepared and knew more of the sound we were looking for. We were in a rush since we were going on a big European tour right after the recordings - and it was really right after. We left the studio with the final master only one hour before departing to the airport! For the bonus material, we chose two of the cover tracks we had already done. We were asked by our old friend (and booking agent for Europe) if we wanted to participate on his tribute album to Doro. Of course we wanted to, and we wanted to do a song which nobody would expect us to do, so we made ‘Für Immer.’ Another cover song is the ‘Långa Bollar På Bengt.’ It’s a famous Swedish song by the band Svenne Rubins. They are from our region in Sweden and we did this song actually before we had enough of our own songs. Later it became requested by fans worldwide."

The track listing for Attero Dominatus (Re-Armed) is as follows:

1. Attero Dominatus
2. Nuclear Attack
3. Rise Of Evil
4. In The Name Of God
5. We Burn

Sabaton Comments On Album Reissues

Available for the first time in North America as non-imports, Sabaton’s first four full-length albums will be re-issued by Nuclear Blast on April 14th, 2011. 2005’s "Primo Victoria (Re-Armed)" will include six bonus tracks, two live songs, and a cover of Twisted Sister’s “The Beast.”

Sabaton bassist Pär Sundström shares the following memories of the "Primo Victoria" recording sessions, why the Twisted Sister cover was selected, and why the live show in Falun was such a special show for the band:

"When we entered the studio to start the recording, we had no idea how Sabatib was meant to sound. I remember sitting behind the mixing desk when we first listened to all the harmonies in the chorus of the title track; that was one of the best memories from a studio session ever. During our studio sessions, we sometimes recorded songs that were never on any albums, this includes the song ‘The Beast’ by Twisted Sister. Twisted Sister is a Top 5 Bands for all members of Sabatib and there are so many memories for us all in their music. For the re-releases, we also included some live songs and on this one, there are a couple of tracks recorded in our hometown of Falun, Sweden. Falun has become a annual show where people from all around the world come because this is where Sabatib always gives a unique and special show.”

The track listing for "Primo Victoria (Re-Armed)" is as follows:

1. Primo Victoria
2. Reign Of Terror
3. Panzer Battalion
4. Wolfpack
5. Counterstrike
6. Stalingrad
7. Into The Fire
8. Purple Heart
9. Metal Machine

Bonus Tracks:
10. The March To War
11. Shotgun
12. Into The Fire (Live In Falun, 2008)

Sabaton Recruits Dragonforce Member For Euro Tour

Swedish metal act Sabaton has announced that the band has recruited current Dragonforce bassist Frédéric Leclercq to take ove guitar duties for its forthcoming European tour. Leclercq will be filling for Sabaton guitarist Rikard Sundén, who is taken a short hiatus from the band for the birth of his first child. Sabaton commented on the addition of Leclercq by saying:

"Of course, it's the highest wish of Sabaton to tour with all six members, but this time Rikard wanted to pass and to ensure that the fans that come to these shows will get a good show we wanted to bring in a person with both great musical talent as well as a great stage act together with a chemistry that we know fits in Sabaton. We are sure that Frédéric is that person. This is, of course, a temporary situation, Frédéric is still a full member of Dragonforce and Rikard is still the guitar player of Sabaton. For the American tour that starts in April, Rikard will be on stage again, ready to rock and a hopefully a bit richer in life."

Steelwing Issues Band Update

Steelwing has issued the following update about joining Accept on tour and posting a blog online detailing the band's shows with Sabaton last year:

"Last week we assembled our lazy asses to the first rehearsal for the upcoming Accept tour. Since we'll be playing a lot of cities for the third time in just a few months we have decided to give our loyal fans a special treat: we're going to play a couple of songs we've never played live before! If you're lucky, that might even include something from our upcoming second album... Come see us, make your way to the front row and bang your heads like there's no tomorrow and you'll find out!

"At last, MySpace seems to have worked out the bugs in their blog editor, so again you will be able to follow my tour blog here. Meanwhile, here's some stuff from the Sabaton tour last year that never got published due to the MySpace fuck up."
