Former Sabaton Guitarist Rejoins The Band
Swedish power metal giants Sabaton, who recently parted ways with guitarist Tommy Johansson, has revealed a familiar face as his replacement. A statement from the band reads as follows:
"We are beyond excited to announce that our former guitarist, Thobbe Englund, is rejoining the band and taking Tommy’s place!
"Thobbe originally joined us in April 2012 and decided to leave Sabaton in July 2016 to focus on his personal life and expand his creativity. We, of course, respected his decision and we parted ways amicably. Since then, we have been in constant contact with him over the years - he’s a really good friend to all of us! Eight years later, he’s back and ready to hit the global stage with us once more and we couldn’t be happier about it!
"Thobbe recorded two studio albums with us, namely 'Heroes' (2014) and 'The Last Stand' (2016), and assisted with the songwriting of some of our very popular songs including 'Shiroyama' and 'Fields Of Verdun', among others.
"As always thank you all for your unending support. It means the world to us. Here’s to a new era for Sabaton!"

Sabaton Splits With Guitarist
Swedish power metal band Sabaton has announced that they have parted company with guitarist Tommy Johansson. A message from the band reads as follows:
"After 7 amazing years in the band, our guitarist, Tommy, has decided to leave Sabaton to pursue his own path. We wish him nothing but the best on his journey. We have been a close family and we will continue to support him in the adventures that await him in the future.
"Tommy joined the band in 2016 but he has been a close friend of Sabaton ever since our first meeting at the end of a concert in 2005. As a valued member of the band, he has contributed to countless immortal memories.
Tommy’s departure from Sabaton will not be effective immediately. He will stay on to ensure that all goes smoothly with the handover to our next guitarist.
"While a small part of his large heart will always remain within Sabaton, we all know that he must follow his dreams.
Even though we will not wake up daily in the tour bus next to him, we are sure that our paths will cross again many times in the future, both on and off the stage.

Nanowar Of Steel Shares "Pasadena 1994" Video
Even after almost three decades, Italy still grieves the loss of the 1994 FIFA World Cup. To process this terrible catastrophe, Nanowar Of Steel have released the charging third single "Pasadena 1994," cut from their highly anticipated new album, "Dislike To False Metal," out this Friday, March 10, 2023 via Napalm Records. Featuring Sabaton singer Joakim Brodén, the single tackles Italy’s battle against Brazil and unites the most hilarious aspects of the Italian quintet with Sabaton and their stylings.
The breathtakingly intense and equally comical music video paints a highly amusing image of the historic and dramatic football game. Guest vocalist Joakim Brodén acts as sports commentator for the historically significant event, and is certainly not the only nod toward Sabaton as the teams fight with total commitment for the World Cup championship.
Nanowar Of Steel about "Pasadena 1994":
"This song is probably Nanowar Of Steel's first serious song. This song is a celebration of that tragic 17th of July 1994, a day that our Nation still remembers with tears and sadness nowadays. Nanowar Of Steel To Release New Album In March
Masters of parody-infused heavy metal Nanowar Of Steel are thrilled to announce their fifth studio album, "Dislike To False Metal," out March 10, 2023 via Napalm Records. Gathering their genius minds for the next chapter, the level of their comedic delivery has risen to its very best. With featured guests like Sabaton singer Joakim Brodén, the band puts the multi-faceted and much too often self-important universe of modern heavy metal to the test with this collection of ten entirely brand new tracks.
Sing and laugh along to the band’s brand new single, "Winterstorm In The Night" - a powerful, mighty anthem exploring the flaky depths of dandruff and scalp hygiene - featuring vocals from Madeleine Liljestam of dark symphonic metal band Eleine. Nanowar Of Steel continue to showcase their quick-witted lyrical ingenuity and amazing musicality with dance-worthy melodies, and have once again crafted a video of the highest quality to go along with the new single.
Nanowar Of Steel on “Winterstorm in the Night”:
After dealing with the number one problem of metalheads in the recent single 'Armpits Of Immortals,' we continue the metal & personal hygiene saga with a brand new track dealing with another headbangers' nightmare: dandruff. Mr. Baffo was plagued by it until he found a solution, so we hope all of you pandoro-headed metallers out there will follow his advice on how to solve it! More...

Sabaton Posts New Music Video Online
Today, the eagerly awaited new studio album from Swedish war chroniclers Sabaton finally sees the day of the light: "The War To End All Wars" is out now. Highly praised by international media, the tenth masterpiece of the Swedish metal force is determined to shake the world in its foundations, introducing a new era in the band's remarkable career.
The band states:
"With our last album, 'The Great War,' we found that we had only scratched the surface in terms of the powerful stories of courage and bravery and also the horrors that took place during the first World War. Fans would contact us and tell us these amazing stories from World War One that none of us had ever heard of before. Incredible, human tales like the British and German soldiers who put down their weapons on Christmas Eve in 1914 to share a moment of peace and reconciliation, right there on the battlefield; or the brave soldiers who fought in the White War, some 12,000 feet up in the Alps, who froze to death and whose bodies remain under the snow to this day. These are magnificent stories about everyday people who were willing to give their lives for something that was bigger than themselves. Marrying these true tales to loud, bruising, bone tingling heavy metal? Adding a second chapter to one the most frightening and liberating times in history? Why wouldn’t we make this album?"
To celebrate the release, Sabaton releases a video for their fourth single "Race To The Sea." 'Race To The Sea' is a song about the decision from Albert of Belgium during WW1 to flood the last part of Belgium and with the help of water prevent all of Belgium to fall into German hands. More...

Sabaton Replaces Aerosmith At Graspop 2022
As previously announced, American hard rock legends Aerosmith has announced that they have cancelled their tour of Europe this Spring/Summer. One of the dates affected was their scheduled headlining slot at Graspop Metal Meeting, Belgium's most popular metal festival. The organisers of the event have now confirmed that taking their place will be Swedish power metal stars Sabaton. A statement from the organisers reads as follows:
"Unfortunately Aerosmith have been forced to cancel their headlining show at GMM 2022. As soon as the news reached us we set out on the daunting task of finding a worthy replacement and our efforts have been rewarded. We’ve been able to snare one of the most popular metal bands around because this summer ‘The Swedish War Machine’ will once again be campaigning in Dessel. That’s right, Sabaton are our new headliners for Sunday 19 June!
"Sabaton’s tenth album, ‘The War to End All Wars’, will be released on March 4, 2022 (Nuclear Blast). Written and recorded in 2021 during the global COVID pandemic, the band has crafted a concept album of 11 brand-new songs that dive deep into previously unexplored atrocities, miracles and events tied to the early 20th century's World War I.
"Get ready for another glorious performance by the Swedish panzer battalion. We can’t wait to see what dazzling new manoeuvres they’ve come up with this time. Come to Graspop Metal Meeting 2022 and find out!"
Sabaton Unveils New Lyric Video
Sabaton have released a new lyric video for "Inmate 4859", originally featured on the bonus version of the band's 2014 album, Heroes.
Historical fact: In September 1940 the Polish soldier Witold Pilecki used faked identity documents to be arrested and sent to Auschwitz, which he planned to infiltrate and destroy from within. Boldly, Pilecki organized the opposition from within, hoping that one day friends from outside would liberate the camp. When no help from outside came he decided to flee and inform the world of the atrocities inside. He managed not only to flee but also to bring secret documents which he planned to use as proof, and even then he was not believed, as the stories seemed exaggerated. After the war he was arrested for treason and executed. More...
Sabaton Posts New Animated Video Online
It's December 24th 1914 in the middle of a cold night. After 6 months in the muddy trenches, the war still hasn't come to an end and soldiers are missing home more than ever before. So they begin quietly singing carols. Although an official truce has been declined by the governments, an eerie silence haunted the empty battlefields on the morning of December 25th. Slowly, British and German soldiers crawl out of their tranches to wish each other a Merry Christmas, take photographs, play games, and even exchange a few gifts.
In their new animated story video, Sabaton depict this one-of-a-kind event during the First World War that should later be known as "Christmas Truce." The brand new video was unveiled during the band’s ongoing Christmas Advent Calendar on their social media channels and website.
"This is the story of the Christmas Truce & this is why we wrote our latest single", bassist Pär Sundström comments. "We now give you a different way of experiencing our music and the history behind it!" More...
Sabaton Shares "Christmas Truce" Video
December 24th, 1914: Late On Christmas Eve, British Expeditionary Force heard German troops in the trenches opposite them singing Christmas carols and saw lanterns and small fir trees along their trenches. Messages began to be shouted between the trenches.
The following day, British and German soldiers met in no man's land and exchanged gifts, took pictures and some even played football. It was a rare but magic moment of peace and harmony in the midst of one of the most atrocious events in the 20th century.
Today, Swedish metal heroes Sabaton release a song about this outstanding event that is known today as "Christmas Truce".
Sabaton mastermind and bassplayer Pär Sundström on "Christmas Truce":
"Christmas Truce was our highest priority when we decided to write songs about World War One.
Not only was it the most requested topic from our fans, but it was, for us, the most emotional story from the war. This song took us years to create since we wanted the music to reflect the mood honestly and it was a big challenge, but we feel we managed to write a song that captures the spirit of this day, over a century ago."
"Christmas Truce" foreshadows the tenth masterpiece of Sabaton, "The War To End All Wars", that will be released on March 4th, 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records. Once again, SABATON will dive deep into the atrocities, miracles and happenings around WWI and take the listener to an emotional and exciting ride of 11 tracks. More...
