Norwegian schizo metallers ATROX have uploaded a previously unreleased track on their MySpace page. The song is called "Den store hvite stillhet," which means "the big white silence" in Norwegian. It is inspired by polar explorer Roald Amundsen. An outtake from the "Binocular" recording sessions, "Den store hvite stillhet" did not make the final cut for the album.
On other news, guitarist Rune Sørgård will not be joining the band for the upcoming gigs, since he will soon become a father. He will be replaced on those shows by Trond Engum from THE 3RD AND THE MORTAL, who will step in as a live session guitarist.

This will not be the first time that Viking metallers HELHEIM join forces with avant-garde metallers, and Dark Essence Records stable mates, VULTURE INDUSTRIES to tour. Commented HELHEIM frontman and bass player V'gandr, "We have all known each other for far too long, and the last couple of tours we did together was fun to do, to put it mildly. It helps to know who you are dealing with — there's nothing worse than touring with someone you don't get on with, and we can always be sure that there will be plenty of laughs and beer flowing on the way with the VULTURE INDUSTRIES guys."
HELHEIM recently caused a sensation in Norway when it launched its "Kaoskult" album in front of an audience of young children in a kindergarten.

Atmospheric and energetic, groove based arrangements and catchy melodies wrapped up in a metallic symbiosis."
"Tracklisting is as follows:"
2. No Coil for Tesla
4. Headrush Helmet
7. Tight Tie
9. Castle for Clowns
Tabu Recordings has signed 'primal caveman' death metal act, GOAT THE HEAD. Hailing from the muddy areas surrounding the river Nidelva in the Norwegian wilderness, GOAT THE HEAD are a barbaric four-piece that strip 'raw' of its arcaic meaning. Musically brutal, uncouth and coarse in appearance, the Trondheim-based band embodies nature at its worse.
Their penchant for keeping it "simple and organic" also reflects in their live shows that are peppered with nudity and primitive rituals.
Featuring Per Spjøtvold (ATROX) on vocals, Ketil Sæther (LUMSK) on guitar, Snorre A. Hovdal on bass and Kenneth Kapstad (ANIMAL ALPHA, ex-GÅTE) on drums, GOAT THE HEAD are getting ready to record their debut for TABU RECORDINGS (release in autumn this year).
Season of Mist have welcomed back Norwegian "schizo" metallers ATROX, and are proud to announce the upcoming release of the band's third album for the label, after "Contentum" (2000) and "Terrestrials" (2002). Here's the band's comment:
"After having journeyed through the blistering white silence for a long time, we climbed the high towers of the landscape. Only equipped with our binoculars, we sat there for days, weeks, months, even years passed by. Observing. Monitoring. Gently assembling the pieces. Suddenly, the perspective exceeded before us, enlightening us, sharing its secrets. We finally found the formula with all the ones and zeros in the right order. We could go higher, deeper, beyond the boundaries that we once had created and into a higher level of consciousness. ATROX have always been considered visionaries in the metal genre, and this will in no way change with the new album release. However, this time we have focused more on building stronger structures, spent years on finding the right recipe so that we could blend all components into the Atroxsphere, leaving us with a high-intensity acoustic and digital energy product."
"This is an ambitious record, certain to be the best ATROX album to date. Musically this will be an album full of contrasts. Contrasts of old and new, organic and mechanic. Modern electronics meets vintage instruments in a rare symbiosis. It can be weird, it can be complex, it can be smooth. In the name of Retrofuture and White Silent Binoculars."
The tracks set to appear on the upcoming EP will be two new Manes bangers, covers of 16 Horsepower and Duran Duran, two remixes done by the US noise-guru Cordell Klier and another remix done by DJ Don Tomasso. The next full Manes album, given the working title "Invention - or how the world came to an end and why we did it", is now in pre-production, and the recording is set to start late summer 2005.
In related news, The Manes "1993-1994" LP is now released via Kyrck Productions. It consists of the two first Manes demos ("Maanens Natt" '93 and "Ned i Stillheten" '94) remastered together on heavy quality vinyl. It is limited to 600 copies w/12-page booklet in silver print, and the first 100 copies will also include an embroidered Manes patch. You can find more info here.
The song "Turn (simulation edit)", previously only released on the compilation-cd enclosed with the German magazine Mørkeskye #10, has now been uploaded at www.manes.info. The basic elements on this song was recorded at the same time as the pre-prod done for the album "Vilosophe" back in 2002, but some additional recording and mixing was done in late 2004.
Manes was started around the end of 92/early 93 and features, among others, members from bands like 3rd and the Mortal, Atrox and Chton. Manes has played live with bands like Isis, Katatonia, Red Harvest, Madder Mortem and Theater of Tragedy, and has played festivals like Quart, Inferno, Hole In The Sky and Southern Discomfort.
MANES, the Norwegian band featuring members of THIRD AND THE MORTAL, ATROX and CHTON, are planning a busy 2005, with the recording of an EP and a new full-length album (working title: "Invention - Or How The World Came To An End And Why We Did It"). The EP, titled "[view]", will include two new tracks, a couple of covers and four remixes.
MANES have been confirmed for the 2005 edition of the Quart festival, set to be held July 5-9 in Kristiansand, Norway. Other groups scheduled to appear at the festival include FOO FIGHTERS, GREEN DAY and MADDER MORTEM. Plans also exist for both Norwegian and foreign gigs in early 2005, as well as to shoot a music video.
