Founded by Klaus Dirks (vocals), Matthias Mineur (guitar), Thorsten Plorin (bass) and Arved Mannott (drums) in 1994, German power metallers Mob Rules produced their first demo in 1996, following a number of successful gigs with new addition Oliver Fuhlhage (guitar), and were immediately offered a recording contract. March 1999 saw the arrival of their debut album, "Savage Land," before the band, accompanied by keyboarder Sascha Onnen, embarked on their first tour with label mates Ivory Tower. In summer 2000, they gave their fans a preview of their second album release, "Temple Of Two Suns," out in autumn of that year. After a number of individual gigs (with Symphony X and Doro, among others), the group toured Europe with Company Of Snakes in spring 2001 and were subsequently invited to headline the NTS festival in Paris. Following the single release "Lord Of Madness," which had been put out for their tour with Savatage, "Hollowed Be Thy Name" arrived at the stores in autumn 2002. Then came appearances at the Wacken Open Air 2002, the Europe-wide Wacken Road Show (with Lordi, Amon Amarth & Onkel Tom) in spring 2003 and a German tour alongside Helloween and Rage.

German power metal band Mob Rules posted an "inofficial" video clip for the song "The Glance of Flame" as a Happy New Year gift to fans. The song appears on the band's latest LP "Radical Peace" which was released in 2009 through AFM Records.
In the accompanying year end message, the band promises an album in 2012, which they are currently writing. The full message reads:
"Mob Rules wishes a rocking 2012 and likes to say a big „thank you" to all of our friends and fans for the great support in 2011 and all the years before. The last year was a very special for us! We played a lot of gigs, including our show at the Prog Power USA XII in Atlanta, which was a very special experience for us! We also started the songwriting for our new album, which is going to be released in 2012! The recordings will begin soon, so prepare yourself for the next big thing coming during the year! To start the new year properly, we took a song from our last release "Radical Peace" and recorded a clip for you. This is not an official video, but should bring you into the right mood for a rocking 2012 with Mob Rules!"

Friday began early in the day for the ProgPower crowd when US-based Creation’s End took the stage at around 2:40. Italian Guitarist Marco Sfogli got the crowd warmed up with some serious movement on his fretboard. Rhythm guitarist Rudy Albert and bassist Joe Black pulled on their best game faces for the early crowd. Vocalist Mike DiMeo had a nice stage presence and belted it out there. The set was a bit short, but as an opener, it had to be. Nevertheless, the band opened the day well without a hitch.
After the band wrapped its set, the reunited US band Sanctuary, featuring Warrell Dane and Jim Sheppard from Nevermore, was immediately in the lobby for a signing. Unfortunately, the band schedule and the signing schedule (both published in the very cool ProgPower program book given to attendees) did not see eye to eye. The bands reached a half-hour to forty-five minutes behind schedule throughout the day, so the signing sessions often took place during a band’s set. This made for tough decisions like: “Do I stay through the end of Voyager’s set or do I go get Ihsahn’s autograph?”
Darkwater had taken the stage shortly after. The Swedish group was well-received and performed their variety of progressive melodic metal to a crowd that obviously appreciated, judging by their reaction to Evergrey the night before. The band had an aesthetic that begged to be watched closely as the purple lights fell on them for certain songs. Just after, I met with Red Circuit’s keyboardist, Marcus Teske, for an interview in the adjacent club, Vinyl. For the ProgPower show, Vinyl was converted into a merchandise room with everything a progressive fan could want. I was to go broke a few hours later because of this. More...

"At the end of the year our longtime keyboarder Sascha Onnen left the band to have more time for his family life and his new born child. We wish Sascha and his young family all luck and thank him for the great years together. At the time we work with his replacement Jan Christian Halfbrodt to include him. He will be presently introduced to you. Till then: Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and we will see you on our concerts in 2011!"

Mob Rules has issued the following recap of the year's activities and update about upcoming live shows:
"An eventful year 2009 is coming to an end now, but we won´t miss the opportunity to thank all our fans, friends, crew members and families for the outstanding support. The new album RADICAL PEACE is in stores since November 13th, accompanied by great reviews that we received. Magazines from all over Europe call it ‘a milestone of Melodic Metal’ and compare the 18-minute ‘The Oswald File’ to classics like Iron Maiden´s ‘Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’ and ‘Operation: Mindcriime’ (Queensr?che).
"Our next aim is to present the new songs on stage, as often as possible. The shows in Kerkrade, Wuppertal, Emden, Hamburg and the CD release show in Wilhelmshaven have been memorable evenings for us. Too bad that our planned tour with DIO did not hapen (Get well soon, Ronnie James!), but for January we can already announce that we will support Metal legend U.D.O. Other concerts are in planning status, but some already confirmed (see ‘tour dates’). Let´s see what 2010 also holds in store for us.
"Just a few weeks ago the legendary Bruce Dickinson (singer of Iron Maiden) played a song from RADICAL PEACE on his BBC radio show. Could it get any better? Well NO! Be sure that 2010 will bring some exciting events for Mob Rules. We are already working on it and will let you know details as sooon as they are confirmed (which might be around March). So far, so good we wish you a merry x-mas and a happy & healthy 2010! See you at the concerts!"
