British progressive metal act Beecher has reformed almost five years after splitting up, with plans to play live shows in 2011. The band has issued the following statement:
"Summer 2011 sees the 10 year anniversary of the start of Beecher. We disbanded suddenly, during our most active period, playing just one 'goodbye' gig, at which more than 100 fans of the band were rejected at the doors of the already over-capacity venue.
"Having had five years of reflection time, and considering the aforementioned fact that our tenth birthday is fast approaching, we have decided to reform, playing a handful of shows over the course of 2011 - the first of which will take place on April 29th at the Star & Garter, in our hometown of Manchester. The rest are as-of-yet unconfirmed. Not only are we excited to do this for ourselves, but we're also keen that any Beecher fans that didn't manage to see us at the time, get the opportunity to witness what we do best!" More...
A Trailer featuring action from the upcoming Earache-branded high-octane death and destruction PlayStation 2 racing game "Earache Extreme Metal Racing" is now showing online at earacheextrememetalracing.com.
EARACHE EXTREME METAL RACING will feature ten evil Earache bands as racing teams burning a lot more than rubber as they race and pulverise the opposition's vehicles through Purgatory and other hellish wastelands, all to an exclusively Earache-label death and extreme metal soundtrack.
Along with themed tracks from the combatants on the starting grid there'll also be over 50 extreme metal Earache classics making up the soundtrack of the game from such luminaries as Napalm Death, At The Gates, Cathedral, The Haunted, Hate Eternal, Ultraviolence, Cult Of Luna, Beecher, Urkraft, Anata, Mistress, Severe Torture and many others, including rare tracks on bonus levels throughout the game.
Earache Extreme Metal racing is due for release on PS2, PSP and PC on 7th July 2006.
UK outfit Beecher have officially disbanded. Formed in 2001, the group signed with Earache Records in 2004. Here's a statement from the band:
"After almost five long years of putting everything we have into this band, it has finally brought itself to an end. For the whole time we've put all our creative and physical energy into writing and performing music that we believed in completely, and for the most part we've been underappreciated, misunderstood and misrepresented by both the media and by the general public. We've never been 'the UK's answer' to anybody; we've never been a 'fashioncore' band or a 'noisecore' band and we've certainly never once adhered to any of your bullshit 'scene' rules. We are who we are and we played what we wanted, and in our minds we've set an example and achieved more than we ever thought possible. I'm sorry to say that it seems that right now, you either need to look stupid or sound shit (or more often than not a combination of the two) to get anywhere in this 'scene,' two things that have never applied to Beecher.
The reason for our break-up is a combination of personal reasons that no one outside of our band needs to know, but rest assured now is the time, the time for us all to get our lives back
We have made some great friends and fans along the way and to those people we give our sincere thanks. We hope our band will live on in your memories, as it's sure to in ours. We've had some fucking good times. If you ever deserved thanks, then you got it in at least one of our record sleeves."
