Kreator Clear Up Tour Confusion

The following message has been posted by Kreator's official Myspace:

"For some reason, we are still getting a LOT of emails, comments, messages, etc. about Kreator and the canceled King Diamond tour.

"King Diamond had to cancel the whole tour because of health issues. Regardless of what any club website may say, Kreator are NOT doing ANY SHOWS in the USA as of right now! No off-dates, no one-off shows, no tours.... nothing.

"Instead, they are concentrating on writing the NEW ALBUM and will only be making a few festival appearances in Europe at the moment. Once they are done with the new album, THEN they will make their way back to the USA.

"Until that time, all of us here in the USA will just have to be patient.

=)

"I hope this makes everything absolutely, positively clear because I would hate for a fan (or more) to show up at a club expecting Kreator to play and then get really disappointed."

Sothis Seeking Label Home

Los Angeles-based black metallers SOTHIS have finished mixing their new album, "De Oppresso Liber", at Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden with Andy La Rocque of KING DIAMOND. The CD, which was engineered and produced by Dross, will contain nine new original songs.

Commented the band: "We are now trying to find a home for our upcoming album and it is currently in the hands of labels. Once we've decided who will be releasing the album, we will be mastering the disc and then it will be pressed. It is very realistic to assume that the album will not hit shelves until summer at the earliest. Until then we will be regrouping and begin preparing to return to the stage in support of our upcoming release as well as beginning the writing process for our sophomore release. We'll continue to keep everyone updated on our progress as often as possible."

Eyefear Working With Tommy Hansen

Melbourne, Australia-based progressive power metallers EYEFEAR have issued the following update:

"As some of you may have already read on the Dockyard 1 website, our next album is being mixed and most likely mastered by Tommy Hansen. We are very happy to be working with such a talented guy and believe he'll give us the sound we are looking for on this next album. Sadly, this means we wont be working with Andy LaRocque [KING DIAMOND guitarist] who mixed the last two albums (and did a great job given the time he had) and was kind enough to play some solos on 'A World Full of Grey'. He has been great to work with and is an awesome guy and we hope to work with him again."

EYEFEAR's latets album, "A World Full of Grey", was released last June via Dockyard 1. The CD was recorded at keyboardist Sammy Giaccotto's studio Peak Time Productions in Melbourne, Australia and was mixed by Andy La Rocque at Los Angered Studios in Sweden.

Vomitron Post Cover of King Diamond Online

Massachusetts based instrumental metallers, Vomitron, issue the following update on their MySpace page:

"SO! Here we are again, and here you are. I’m drunk as fuck on St. Patty’s day, cuz i just spent the last 5 hours recording more Nintendo shit for this upcoming NES tribute album which is chewing up more time than trying to whack off after having consumed 45 beers and seeing Hillary Clinton nekked. "

"So the bad news:"

"Not including the old Contra version. At this particular juncture the album is lookin like its ALREADY in the 70+ minute range which i REALLY wanted to avoid but can’t cuz i love all these games and can’t imagine this album without any one of them. With it, the CD would be about 85 minutes long. We here on Earth do not have not discovered this technology yet. And frankly the NEW version of Contra is sounding about 400 times better. "

"The Good news: "

"The 2nd half of Ninja Gaiden is done, enjoy. I also included a cover of King Diamond’s 'The Black Horsemen' which me and a pal o mine in DISCREATE rocked out about 4 years back, for your metalling pleasure." More...

King Diamond Interview To Air On Vault Of Metal

For more information, go to www.thevaultofmetal.com.

KING DIAMOND recently received a Grammy nomination in the "Best Metal Performance" category for the track "Never Ending Hill" off the group's latest album, "Give me Your Soul … Please".

In November, KING DIAMOND cancelled its North American headlining tour — which was scheduled to launch March 23 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, and run through May 8 in Houston — due to a herniated disc.

"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" entered the Swedish national chart at position No. 28. The CD also landed at No. 58 on the Danish chart (the second highest new entry on the chart behind VELVET REVOLVER).

"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" sold 4,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 174 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Slayer Wins Second Metal Grammy Award

Slayer took home the award for Best Metal Performance for their song "Final Six" at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday night in Los Angeles. The song off their latest album, Christ Illusion beat out tunes from Shadow's Fall, Machine Head, King Diamond and As I Lay Dying. Some of the metal award finalists actually walked the red carpet normally reserved for more mainstream celebrities.

Tom Araya took his place at the podium and thanked long-time producer Rick Rubin and the academy.

"It's...most of all (I'd like to thank) Rick Rubin, who has been with us, been there for us, for the past twenty-three years, twenty-four years, so thank you. My wife, my two kids, Sandra, Errol and Tommy. They're here with me. Of course our manager who has been with us for a good twenty years now. Well, thank you very much. Thank the academy. Thank you."

Araya also talked backstage that perhaps with two Grammys they could be considered unearthed from the underground.

"This is awesome. I guess we're part of the industry now, above ground. None of those tunnel diggings anymore. No, this is our second win actually. It's kind of exciting. We've been fortunate to have been around this long with no radio play. We've gotten support from satellite radio recently, MTV gave us minimal support, but it's all on word of mouth and people liking what we do and passing it on to their friends. We owe a lot of our success to our fans. The industry is great, but the fans are the ones that take the time to look you up to see what you're doing, wait for the record to come out and buy it so..."

Slayer won for "Eyes Of The Insane" last year (2007), and have two other nominations to their credit. More...

King Diamond Talks About Grammy Nomination

As reported earlier, the legendary KING DIAMOND has received a Grammy Nomination for Best Metal Performance for the track 'Never Ending Hill' off their latest album Give Me Your Soul… Please.

King comments on his band's nomination:
“It’s a great honour to be picked as a nominee; it’s totally shocking and unexpected. We do feel as a band that this is the best album we have ever done. Hopefully there will be many more albums and tours to come. We feel that we have at least another good 10 years in us! This nomination is a testament to our legion of loyal fans and our thanks go out to them for the endless support and all of the kind words.”

Metal Blade owner and CEO Brian Slagel comments on having two bands nominated for this year's Grammy Awards:
“All of us at Metal Blade Records are extremely honoured to have two of our artists, AS I LAY DYING and King Diamond, nominated for Grammy awards. They both truly deserve this honour for the great artistry they have accomplished on these tremendous releases.”

King Diamond’s Give Me Your Soul… Please was released on June 26th 2007 and came in at #174 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart! Give Me Your Soul… Please is a blistering metal horror-opera concept album that draws from themes from the occult and both King Diamond’s personal life, after-life experiences, as well as King Diamond’s signature dark imagination. The result is a montage of murder mysteries meets nightmare dream sequences wrapped in a proto-power-metal soundtrack. As King describes it, “Give Me Your Soul… Please is a horror murder mystery story mixed with reality from beginning to end.”

Leaves' Eyes Frontman Talks King Diamond Tour

As previously reported, the North American Tour together with KING DIAMOND, KREATOR, LEAVES’ EYES and CELLADOR in spring 2008 has been cancelled due to serious health problems concerning King Diamond.

Leaves’ Eyes mainman Alex Krull (ATROCITY) comments: "Hello everybody, we unfortunately have to say that the North American Tour from Leaves’ Eyes together with King Diamond, Kreator and Cellador had to be cancelled as many of you already know. King Diamond has got a serious problem with his back which makes it impossible for him to go on tour in the next time. We got this news with a heavy heart, all our best wishes for a fast recovery for the King!! Healthiness goes first and we can understand his decision 100%. Of course we would have loved to present a great show for our fans in the USA and Canada. We even wanted to surprise you with new material from the next Leaves’ Eyes album! We hope however seeing all of you very soon.

Leaves’ Eyes are currently working at their next album and the finishing of the first Leaves’ Eyes DVD. Furthermore, new musicians are being sought for the position of drummer and bass player for Leaves’ Eyes and Atrocity.

Says Alex Krull: "We were very pleased with the reactions so far. Many interesting musicians of all different genres and places have applied so far. A big thank you to all of you who already wrote to us. We are checking all applications and we are still looking for more potential candidates. We would like to have people around us that are somehow down-to-earth and reliable but very much committed to music. This is for sure very important for us because of the two different directions of both bands. On the one hand we need people that are able to play all the crazy stuff in Atrocity such as extreme (double-bass) drumming and bass patterns beyond 225 bpm. On the other hand we need people who can play the groovy and filigree mid-tempo-beats for Leaves’ Eyes. Not an easy job and a real challenge for every musician. People who want to apply for the job, contact us at info@mastersoundentertainment.de."

King Diamond Talks Tour Cancellation

KING DIAMOND has issued the following statement to his fans:

"As you know by now, it has been necessary to postpone the US tour due to the slow healing of my herniated disc.

I want to thank everyone for being so understanding under the circumstances, and for all the well wishes. It just shows me that we have the best fans any band could wish for.

I also very much appreciate the support and understanding I have received from all the people involved with the business side of the band, such as all the promoters, our booking agent, record label, our crew and of course the band members.

The facts are that at this point there was only about 10% chance that everything would work out as planned, and 90% chance that my back would not be completely healed in time for the tour. It could have cost a possible cancellation within the first week or so, resulting in damaging my back beyond repair, and an early end to my career and health.

Therefore the only thing that made sense was to postpone all touring activities until my back has completely healed.

"Rather postpone the US tour now and have the career run another 8-10 years (look at Dio, Alice Cooper, etc. still going strong), than take a chance where both health and career might be over within half a year."

Even though I know the situation is out of my control, I can't help but feel that this whole thing is my fault. It really just plain SUCKS, but I promise we'll make it up to all of you.

I just want to let you know that the healing process has not stopped. It IS still getting better, and I am personally confident that it will heal 100% given the time it needs (hopefully six months rather than a full year, but who knows). I am still putting 100% effort into speeding up this whole process, and I can't wait to get back to a decent normal life.

Again, I really want to personally thank you all for the understanding and all the well wishes.

Stay Heavy,
King"

Cellador Comment On King Diamond Tour

Guitarist Bill Hudson of the Nebraska-based power metallers CELLADOR has issued the following update:

Alright, we've been getting tons of e-mails asking us whether the tour with KING DIAMOND, KREATOR and LEAVES' EYES is entirely cancelled or only the King is out of it.

"My honest answer as of right now is: I DON'T KNOW.

"I talked to our booking agent (John Finberg at First Row Talent, the guy who put the tour together) yesterday and he told me he's been working on a 'plan B' for three days and nobody more than him wanted this tour to happen. I can tell he's really bummed about it.

"It's almost funny, but ever since that happened, it seems like some of the bands are having problems. LEAVES' EYES has just parted ways with two members and we're having some problems I'd rather not talk about just yet. But what I CAN say is that we were supposed to be at the studio right now and the recordings were postponed.

"Now, another question we've been getting is: 'Is the January/February tour cancelled?' I do have an answer for that: NO, IT'S NOT.

"We will not cancel any shows on that tour. It starts on January 15th in Charlotte, NC and ends on February 10th in Houston, TX. About March 22nd - May 7th, please just sit tight. We'll announce something real soon. I really don't know what, but there will be something!" More...

Kreator Frontman Speaks On King Diamond Tour

Guitarist/vocalist Mille Petrozza of the German thrashers KREATOR has issued the following statement:

"First of all, We are very disapointed that our tour [with KING DIAMOND] in March/April is not going to happen! We were really looking forward to see all our North American fans again and were preparing a killer show for you! But I must also say that right now the most important thing is King Diamond's health. I want to see the King playing shows and producing albums for many years to come in good shape and so all I can say in the name of the whole band at this point is: Get well soon, King, and all the strength and best wishes from Germany! All hail to the King!"

More information about KREATOR's future plans will become available in the next few days.

King Diamond Issues Statement On Cancelled Tour

KING DIAMOND manager Ole Bang has issued the following message:

"Most regretfully we have to announce that King will not be able to tour North America as planned.

King has over the past 6 month been suffering from a herniated disc in the spine, and has still not recovered to a satisfactory level.

He was prescribed absolute rest for several months, and this appear to be more than half a year.

Following several visits to specialists and most recent MRI-scan; we have to realize that his condition need far more rest than expected in the first place. At the moment he can neither walk for more than an hour at a time, nor can he sit like you would do in a normal daily life; ie. there is no chance that he will fully recover in time for the tour start in March.

We deeply regret the inconvenience caused for everyone involved, for promoters, bands and fans; and most of all we're very very sorry that we can not go out and perform for the fans; who have been waiting for the tour to kick off.

Unfortunately life is unpredictable, and it's completely out of our hands when illness kick in, and no medicine, how harsh it might have been, can cure the situation. If anything could remedy the situation it would have been done, but for now we simply just have to wait, and let King get the much needed rest.

I will post news about any developments as soon as it's available.

At this time we will also like to say Thanks, for all the kind words of a speedy recovery we have received.

Ole Bang."

King Diamond Cancels North American Tour

KING DIAMOND's North American headlining tour — which is scheduled to launch March 23 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, and run through May 8 in Houston — has been cancelled due to a herniated disc.

"I can't sit down, even on my couch, for more than a few minutes," King recently told MTV.com. "About [two months ago] I tried, and after 15 minutes, it started feeling like my left leg was getting set on fire."

"It can take up to a year and a half for a severe herniated disc to heal properly, but it varies from person to person," he added. "Right now there's not much more we can do."

Diamond got a taste of what might happen if he hits the road too soon in September when director Bill Schacht from video company Aestheticom — which has also worked with AMON AMARTH — shot a video for "Give Me Your Soul", the first KING DIAMOND clip in 17 years. "They limited what I had to do, of course, so I only did one day of shooting for 90 minutes, but just standing there moving a little bit in the full outfit was very difficult," he said. "And afterwards, I got one of those sharp attacks of pain that I hadn't had in a month and a half. The only thing I can compare it to is a really super-bad toothache or earache. And afterwards, I was like, 'OK, I'm not ready [to tour] yet.' "

Regarding how he injured his back, the 51-year-old singer said, "I think the real damage happened mixing the record, because I did that three weeks straight for a minimum of 12 hours a day. One of the last nights, when I was going to bed, I felt these pains in the sciatic nerves on each side, and I thought, 'Oh what is this?' The next morning I woke up and I couldn't walk or stand. It was like being paralyzed. I can't begin to say how painful it was. They say that's the worst pain you can experience as a human being. Had I not lived on the ground floor in a house, I would have jumped out the window."

New King Diamond Video In Final Editing Phase

KING DIAMOND's video for the song "Give Me Your Soul" is now in the final editing phase and is expected to be released around Halloween. The band's first clip in 17 years was shot in September with director Bill Schacht from video company Aestheticom, which has previously worked with DIO, ALICE COOPER and DREAM THEATER, among other artists. Speaking to MTV.com, the group's frontman/namesake — who is currently suffering from a herniated disc — said about the video shoot, "They limited what I had to do, of course, so I only did one day of shooting for 90 minutes, but just standing there moving a little bit in the full outfit was very difficult. And afterwards, I got one of those sharp attacks of pain that I hadn't had in a month and a half. The only thing I can compare it to is a really super-bad toothache or earache. KING DIAMOND's latest album, "Give Me Your Soul ...

King Diamond Suffers Herniated Disc

King Diamond has told MTV.com that he may be forced to cancel his band's U.S. tour — which is scheduled to launch March 23 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, and run through May 8 in Houston — due to a herniated disc.

Diamond got a taste of what might happen if he hits the road too soon in September when director Bill Schacht from video company Aestheticom — which has also worked with AMON AMARTH — shot a video for "Give Me Your Soul", the first KING DIAMOND clip in 17 years.
