Epica Reveals New Album Details

Today, Dutch Symphonic metal giants Epica proudly announce the release of their new album "Omega," out on February 26th 2021 via Nuclear Blast. "Omega" is the bands first studio album in five years. Epica have also released the first single from the album, titled "Abyss Of Time," with an amazing accompanying video that was made in collaboration with Grupa 13. You can watch the video below.

Simone Simons comments: "Finally we can show you the video for our newest single 'Abyss Of Time'! We flew all the way to Poland to work with Grupa 13 for the first time. Shooting videos is one of my favorite parts of creating the visual side to our music. The costumes were insanely beautiful. It was so much fun and I hope that you like the video."

About the new album, Mark Jansen comments: "I am very proud of this album, as I am convinced we have written a very refreshing and well balanced album even after so many years of existence. Our strength is that we have many great songwriters in one band. We have managed to combine each other's strongest qualities and selected the best songs. It was a fruitful period of spending time together to work as one team on those tracks. I think this has made the biggest difference compared to our previous albums. Still using the advantages of comfortably sending files by the internet to each other but combining that with coming physically together again to work on all the tracks. I think I have listened to "Omega" about 50 times already and still can't get enough of it!"

The band also kick off the pre-order for "Omega", that will be available in the following formats:
- CD Jewelcase
- 2CD Digibook
- Earbook (48p Earbook incl. Bonus acoustic CD, orchestral CD & instrumental CD - limited to 3500)
- Vinyl-Box (incl. Earbook, PIC 2LP & hanger with Ankh symbol - limited to 1500)
- 2LP (various colors)

Epica Posts Ninth Studio Vlog Online

Dutch symphonic metal giants Epica have recorded their eighth album at Sandlane Recording Facilities in the Netherlands. In April, Mark Jansen was not able to travel to the Netherlands due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions. So he recorded his vocal parts in his home studio. Meanwhile in Sandlane Recording Facilities, Coen Janssen and producer Joost van den Broek were supervising the recordings of the backing vocals for EPICA#8.

In this episode you get a behind-the-scenes look how Mark, the choir and the backing vocals were recorded.

Coen Janssen comments: "Besides Simone’s vocals, our music has a lot more voices to be heard! Of course there is Mark, growling away from Sicily due to him not being able to travel to the studio because of the pandemic. Next to the children’s choir we also have the ’normal’ choir again, giving us an even better performance than previous times. And just when you thought that was all, we squeeze in some awesome backing vocals by Linda and Marcela to complement Simone’s leads. Seeing everything coming together like this is the cherry on the cake of the recordings so enjoy the little snippets…. almost done."

Epica's first new music is scheduled for release this fall through Nuclear Blast Records. In support of this the band will comprehensively tour Europe during the rescheduled ‘Epic Apocalypse’ co-headline tour with Apocalyptica and support act Wheel. More...

Epica And Imperial Age Frontmen To Host Live Chat

On Sunday the May 17, 2020 Mark Jansen (leader and composer of Epica, MaYaN, United Metal Minds) and Alexander Osipov (leader and composer of Imperial Age) will meet online in a live chat on YouTube to discuss many interesting topics and answer questions of symphonic metal fans from around the world.

Unusually for rock stars, they actually have a scientific background: Mark has a master‘s degree in psychology (Maastricht University, Netherlands) while Alexander has a master‘s degree in history (Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia).

On top of that, they are both interested in non-conventional disciplines, such as cold healing, bioenergy, esoteric, etc.

The discussion promises to be very interesting and highly intellectual. The approximate topics include:

- Music (obviously mainly Symphonic Metal)
- Music business (how to promote your band during lockdown)
- Psychology
- History (including alternative history and ancient advanced civilizations)
- Health (including alternative health practices)
- Magic & the occult
- The Current world situation
- And many other things More...
