Knoxville, Tennessee's WHITECHAPEL has released the cover art and track listing for their upcoming new album, "A New Era of Corruption," which is due out on June 8th via Metal Blade Records. "The album is finally 100% complete and we couldn't be more excited. I think this record truly represents where we are as musicians at this point in our career. A New Era of Corruption is the heaviest and most aggressive material we have written to date," comments guitarist and founding member Alex Wade, Some of you may notice that the title of the new record, A New Era of Corruption, is a line from the song 'Possession' off of our last album This Is Exile. We wanted to name the CD this to bring a little flavor from 'This Is Exile' into the new CD, as well as I think the name represents this new age of extreme metal that we are currently rising in. The album is not a concept record like This Is Exile was. It just has its own general theme and each song deals with its own topic track by track." More...

On the 31 Dec 1999, no planes came crashing out of the sky, nuclear bombs went off or microwave ovens tried to eat anyone. However, times were about to change and in the metal scene change was already well underway. Let us take a stroll through the decade in metal that was.
Many of the 90s big names like Emperor and Pantera prepared to give their last venomous scream dying off in the wake of ever diminishing interest in the metal scene that had plagued the 90s. In the year 2000 a band named “Limp Bizkit” came out with an album called "Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavoured Water" and in a storm nu-metal took over the public perception of heavy music, changing the face of metal irreparably. The previously announced charity auction for Deftones bassist Chi Cheng went live earlier in the week. Chi has been in a semi-conscious state since being involved in a horrific accident in November 2008, and his family has accumulated an overwhelming amount of medical bills that insurance does not entirely cover. It is Deftones' mission to raise significant funds to help ensure Chi's recovery by playing two very special benefit shows in Hollywood on 11/19 and 11/20, and also by launching a benefit auction in conjunction with CharityBuzz.com.
More information has been revealed on the stuff being auctioned. The auction features many special items generously donated by an array of Deftones' friends including Metallica, System of a Down, Blink 182, HIM, Slayer and many more.
Some highlights include:
-A day in the studio with Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 to produce a track for your band
-Flyaway to Helsinki, Finland to attend HIM's sold-out New Year's Eve show. Includes meet-and-greet with the band, round-trip flight, and hotel for two nights.

On November 17th, Deftones with the assistance of CharityBuzz.com will commence a three week online auction to raise money for their brother, Chi Cheng. With the event only a few days away, the response has been overwhelming and Chino, as well as Deftones, would like to send their thanks to all involved:
"Wow, first let me start off saying how amazed I am at the generosity of all the friends and artists who have come forward for this auction. We, Deftones are so very grateful to all for your donations and time you've put into making this a success. I myself had no idea it would be this big. Just goes to show how many good friends and good will Chi has made over the last 20 years, just being the good dude he is.
"If you were lucky enough to befriend Chi over the last couple decades you would know that there is not a more kind, or more giving person. It's so great to see it all coming back around for him.
"I really want to thank everyone that has kept him in their thoughts, prayers, and kept all the positive energy and love flowing his way. I truly believe he will return to us one day when he is good and rested with a great story to tell in his off the wall Cheng sense of humor. Chi is one tuff "MF" and if anyone can make it through this, it's gonna be him.
"Chi, I miss you and love you and so does the world. Hope to see you soon."
