"A Life Less Lived - The Gothic Box" Details
Billboard.com reports that Rhino have rounded up the top names in goth rock (while only semi-relevant to metal, there are a few relevant bands involved) for the four-disc boxed set "A Life Less Lived -- The Gothic Box," due Sept. 19. Despite loathing the titular term that came to describe their music, bands like Joy Division, the Cure, Bauhaus and the Jesus & Mary Chain transcended labeling to revolutionize rock in the late '70s and early '80s.
Key tracks from those bands are featured on "A Life Less Lived," including opener "Dead Souls" by Joy Division and Bauhaus' "She's in Parties." Other acts represented throughout include the Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Love And Rockets, the Mission (U.K.), the Chameleons, the Damned, Skinny Puppy and AFI.
The fourth disc in the box is a DVD with such evergreen videos as Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi's Dead," the Cure's "Lullaby," Echo & the Bunnymen's "The Killing Moon," a live version of the Cult's "Spiritwalker" and Love And Rockets' "Ball of Confusion."

Crucified Barbara Embark On Tour Of France
Swedish all-female quartet CRUCIFIED BARBARA (photo) — whose debut album, "In Distortion We Trust", will be released by Liquor and Poker Music on May 30 — will kick off a nine-show French tour Friday night (April 14). It includes a Le Mans show alongside KILLING JOKE on April 22.
"We're looking forward to get back to France once again, to play it loud and eat a lot of French cheese!" says vocalist/guitarist Mia Coldheart. "The French guys know how to put a dressing room table in order forsure! After this, we're heading for Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands to play cool rock clubs, do festivals, meet new people and kick some rock ass!"
The shows in Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands will be with DORO, SONATA ARCTICA and JON OLIVA'S PAIN. From there, the group will play such major European summer festivals as Sweden Rock, Gods of Metal (Italy) and Rock Hard (Germany), among others.
The North American version of "In Distortion We Trust" will contain one bonus track — a cover of MOTÖRHEAD's "Killed By Death" — as well as music videos for each of the group's three singles ("Losing The Game", "Rock 'n' Roll Bachelor" and "Play Me Hard") that have been released in their home country.

Motley Crue Tracklisting, More Tour Dates & Video
The raucous rulers of the sex-and-drugs-fueled nightlife on L.A.'s Sunset Strip have returned to their old stomping grounds. All four original members of Motley Crue, the glam-metal gods who've sold more than 40 million albums worldwide and who paved the way for other seminal rock acts, have reunited for the first time in six years, announcing a new world tour — VH1 & VH1 Classic Present "Mötley Crüe: Red White & Crüe Tour 2005…Better Live Than Dead" — and giving their fans a live taste of it. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, December 11 at Ticketmaster and VH1.com.
The event at the Hollywood Palladium began at 6:00 p.m. with a press conference announcing the tour, a new anthology album and the debut of a fresh single and video, "If I Die Tomorrow". The new tour, it was revealed during the press conference, resulted not only from strong demand by homegrown audiences, but was largely fueled by the diligent efforts of Mags Revell, a U.K. promoter with Metropolis Music Group, who launched his own grass-roots campaign in the U.K. designed to get the band to reunite. Taking the unprecedented steps of placing advertising in U.K. media and putting a hold on concert venues in the U.K. for June, 2005, Revell's efforts quickly gained traction with fans all across the world who added fuel to the fire by taking to the Internet and spreading the word.
Said Revell, "I honestly did not know until now whether Motley Crue would respond to our efforts. With the help of tens of thousands of fans in the UK and around the world, I wanted to show the band that there was a real demand for their reunion and I took a big risk. This is the band that we all never thought we'd have the chance to see live again and I strongly admire them for responding to their fans. It is the realization of a dream for so many people for whom Motley Crue represents what rock music is all about.”
"Motley Crue are a gang of musicians that climbed the mountain of rock to success," Allen Kovac, CEO of Tenth Street Entertainment, said in a statement. "This tour and new music delivers to all those who love one of rock's most passionate and aggressive bands." More...
