MTV2 Headbangers Ball: The Revenge Details

MTV2 and Roadrunner Records have announced the release of the third installment in the successful series – MTV2 HEADBANGERS BALL: THE REVENGE. The low priced, double-disc is due in stores on April 11, 2006.

On the heels of the Gold certification of the first installment, MTV2 HEADBANGERS BALL, VOLUME 1 and the success with MTV2 HEADBANGERS BALL, VOLUME 2, MTV2 and Roadrunner Records once again set out to gather the very best in Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. The result is more than 2 1/2 hours of music on 2 CDs: disc one represents the strongest tracks from today's biggest rock bands, and disc two brings together the strongest up-and-comers from the underground rock scene.

In addition to the genre-defining anthems that represent the best of the show, there are enough rare and unreleased tracks to satisfy tastemaker metal fans as well. Packed with a total of 38 hard-charging tracks, this collection has 7 exclusive offerings. They include the Terry Date mix of Slipknot's "Before I Forget", and the live recording of Killswitch Engage's "A Bid Farewell", which both see their first CD release on this compilation. Other exclusives are brand new tracks from Hatebreed and Walls Of Jericho, both of which were written especially for this release (Hatebreed's lead vocalist, Jamey Jasta, is the host of the Headbangers Ball program on MTV2). A video for the Hatebreed track, entitled "To The Threshold", will air on video channels in March. A side project of Jasta's, Kingdom of Sorrow (which also includes members of Down, Crowbar and Seemless), also throws a brand new track into the ring. The compilation beat Dragonforce and 36 Crazyfists' record releases to the punch with fresh new tracks from these up-and-comers.

Sweden's math metal alchemists, Meshuggah has been nominated for a Grammy in their home country. Nuclear Blast Records issued the following statement:

Among the comforts of label mates Candlemass and Hammerfall, Meshuggah are nominated for the Swedish Grammy for Best Rock album. "Catch Thirty-Three," which hit streets on May 31st, 2005 here in the United States has been praised continually for pushing the envelope yet againand only as Meshuggah does best!

No matter how intense, complex and obscure, Swedish experimentalists Meshuggah (translates in Yiddish to crazy) continue to receive increasing worldwide respect with every distinctive release. Since their formation in 1987, this outlandish unit have been declared as one of the ten most important hard and heavy bands by Rolling Stone, the most important band in metal by Alternative Press, one of the top 100 metal bands by Hit Parader and co-headlined the second stage at the world famous Ozzfest.

With all the mania Meshuggah have driven upon their minions, the relentless and hypnotic "Catch Thirty Three," drove the world to recognize the true musical talent these Swedes contain.

Hammerfall - Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken
Hardcore Superstar - Hardcore Superstar

Opeth Frontman Comments On Arrested Bus Driver

OPETH mainman Mikael Åkerfeldt has commented on the recent arrest of their bus driver Leon R. Whitman who was charged on Tuesday (November 15th) with one felony count of using a child for a sexual performance, three counts of computer pornography and one count each of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and interfering with custody.

"Our busdriver on the last North American tour was arrested in Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL for "unlawful activity with a minor". Basically we're appalled by the fact that we'd employed this bastard and even more disgusted by his deeds and obviously we will be much more detailed in our background check for future employments. The driver introduced himself only as "Rod" and seemed like a nice guy, even though for us he was just another driver, and a bad one as well! He said he owned a trailer company and that he was a drummer, playing with TED NUGENT and several other bands in the '70's. We got suspicious that he couldn't get into Canada (we had another driver there) due to some previous drug "misdemeanors". Myself and Peter (Lindgren - guitars) met him and the girl in the elevator of the hotel where he introduced her as his niece. She seemed distant, asking us if we smoked pot. "Rod" told us he was driving her to Los Angeles. After the gig, he never returned to the bus and then we got the news that he'd been arrested. Luckily for us one of Nevermore's crew was able to drive us back to the hotel. The next day the FBI stopped our tour manager outside the bus with a warrant to search the bus for "Rod's" laptop and camera. We feel genuinely happy that he is caught and behind bars where we hope he will stay for a long time."

Into Eternity Wrap Up Fourth 2005 N. American Tour

Canada's progressive death metal band INTO ETERNITY have wrapped up their fourth 2005 North American tour supporting their latest album Buried Into Oblivion . This year the band has been privileged to share the stage with metal veterans Amorphis, Hate Eternal, Krisiun, Incantation, Hammerfall, Edguy and now Stratovarius. Drummer Adam Sagan commented, "The tour is winding down, and we have had a freakin' blast. We've seen old friends, and have made plenty of new ones. It's also been killer seeing a lot of you returning to see us. The Stratovarius guys are great, but since the bands had really different touring schedules (we drove our van and they had a bus) we didn't have a lot of opportunities to get to know them... until we closed down Seattle's Studio Seven drinking together.

"Just when we thought we would be going home and ending the year on a high note with Stratovarius, we were given the honor of playing two weeks with Opeth and Nevermore: truly a dream come true. Personally I could tour with either band and die happy, but touring with both together come on..."

INTO ETERNITY will begin working on Buried In Oblivion's follow up album after finishing the Opeth / Nevermore tour.

Here are the remaining Into Eternity tour dates: More...
