Nile Saved By Immolation Vocalist

Nile has issued the following statement about Immolation vocalist Ross Dolan coming to their rescue when their tour bus driver left unexpectedly:

"So what do you do when your bus driver decides to hit the road? (...and not in a good way). Well, this very thing happened this past Saturday when Nile's tour bus driver couldn't make it to the Gallup, NM show due to 'certain circumstances' which caused Nile and their bus to be stranded at some random truck stop in the middle of the desert.

"It just so happens that the Immolation and Krisiun bus was stopped at the same place, and at the same time (weird). So, after a couple of hours of trying to find a solution, all options were exhausted, and Nile's tour manager, Punchy, went to tell the Immolation and Krisiun guys that Nile wasn't going to be able to make it to the show, because we had no available driver.

"Turns out, Ross has a Class B license, and that makes him legal to drive a bus. So, he got out of bed and drove the last four hours to the gig! So what's the moral of the story? If we can work miracles and pull this type of stuff off at the last minute to make it to one of our gigs, then this means that you should have no excuse on why you should miss one of our shows!"

Nile And Immolation Tear Down The Trocadero

Nile’s first big US tour in support of their latest album, “Those Whom The Gods Detest,” rolled its way through Philly on January 17th. Immolation, Krisiun, and Dreaming Dead provided support, ensuring that a night of brutal death metal was on the menu. A dreary, drizzle-soaked night made for a perfect accompaniment to the reign of terror that was on display from the time the doors of the Trocadero opened to the bitter end. While the lack of Abigail Williams, who had to drop off the tour due to a band injury, was disappointing, the rest of the bands held their own and put on a show that left many necks aching from all the headbanging going on. Immolation Posts New Song, "The Purge," Online

New York based death metal band IMMOLATION has posted a brand new song called "The Purge" on their MySpace page.

Ross Dolan comments, "It was a unanimous decision to choose 'The Purge' as the first song off of 'Majesty and Decay' to debut to the world. It is the first song on the record and we think it really sets the tone for the rest of the album. 'The Purge' is an extremely aggressive and angry song that really has so many elements to it, and it is the perfect opening track as well because it takes the listener through some of the many moods and feelings contained within the album. It is a very extreme song in many ways and showcases all of the classic IMMOLATIONN elements. Lyrically the song takes the concept we started developing on 'World Agony' and expands upon it, taking it to the next level in a very extreme way. We really liked the idea behind "World Agony" and wanted to expand upon it, so when we began the process of writing lyrics for the new record while in the studio, I had the title and a loose concept for 'The Purge' and we expanded upon it. 'The Purge' is a condemning song that takes an ugly look at mankind and forces us to open our eyes and accept responsibility for our actions. It is a very dark song with lots of emotion that I think will grab the listener right from the opening notes."

The song comes off the bands upcoming record "Majesty And Decay" which will be released on March 5, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Immolation Issues Studio Update

Immolation has posted a new studio recording blog through Decibel Magazine. Excerpts from the blog follow:

"Since the last update, Bob and I spent the remainder of the week laying down the guitar and bass rhythm tracks. As soon as Bob was finished up with the rhythms, he then had to go song by song and record all the additional guitar rhythms and overlay sections. This became a long and involved process because there were so many layers in the songs that it became hard to keep track without referring to the pre-production. As soon as he thought he was all finished with one song, he would check the pre-production demos and realize he had more to go. So this is how it went for most of Friday and all day Saturday. I managed to finish up the bass tracks on Friday night hoping to get in there Saturday to start vocals, but this didn’t happen. After spending almost two full days with the additional guitar parts, Bob was ready to start leads, but now we were running out of time. We essentially had one day to get all the leads and vocals done, which we knew wasn’t realistic. More...

Immolation Posts New Studio Report

Immolation has posted a new studio blog on Decibel Magazine. Excerpts from the blog follow:

"It’s been a busy day here at the studio. It’s Wednesday night, and we have been hard at work all day. Our drummer Steve [Shalaty] just left a few hours ago, not really looking forward to the 8-hour drive back to his home in Ohio. He really did an amazing job and really had so much input not only in the drum department, but also in some of the arrangements, lyrics and in just lending his ear to make sure certain aspects of the guitar and bass parts flowed correctly over the drum parts. His playing on this record has just raised the bar for future Immolation albums, and I think it will be a welcome step up in our song dynamics that our fans will really enjoy!

"It’s my turn in the hot seat tonight. Bob [Vigna] and I have been trading off between guitar and bass rhythms since Monday. We have developed a routine over the last few days where Bob will start on the early side, usually between 10 and 11 in the morning (since I am not out of bed until 11 or 12), and then I will usually start tracking bass in the late afternoon. Today, I got started on the later side and managed to get through three songs by 8:30 in the evening, so now we have rhythms done to seven out of the ten songs. If all goes well, we should have rhythms all wrapped up by tomorrow evening and will be ready to start tracking vocals and leads. More...

Immolation Issues Recording Update

Immolation has issued the following update from the recording studio:

"Still moving forward here in the studio. Steve has finished up his drum tracks and we started guitars and bass between yesterday and today. Ross and Bob got their amp sounds set and got through some basic tracking, while Steve got a well deserved rest after pummeling his drum set for a week straight. Here are some more pictures from Millbrook Sound Studios. We'll have some more video up as soon as we can.

"Been making use of Paul's in studio bar after a few of the sessions. Paul has a vast array of hundreds of different beers, ....not to mention the special Belgian beer on tap, truly amazing! For now more tracking to come, but album number 8 is slowly starting to take shape! More to follow."
