Magick Touch Announces New Album, Releases Single

Today, Norwegian hard rockers Magick Touch reveal the video for the new single "Under the Gun." Check it out in the player below. The track is the first glimpse of the band's highly anticipated second album "Blades, Chains, Whips & Fire," which shall see international release early next year via Edged Circle Productions.

Magick Touch is a power trio - with the emphasis on POWER - from the southwestern coastal town of Bergen, Norway. The band - HK Rein on guitar and vocals, Bård Nordvik on drums, and Christer Ottesen on bass and vocals - formed in 2014 and released the debut album "Electrick Sorcery" through Edged Circle in 2015. The album went on to reap worldwide acclaim for its simple-yet-profound pleasures.

As the trio encompasses at least two singers and three songwriters, Magick Touch is almost like getting several bands for the price of one. Even more so than the celebrated debut, "Blades, Chains, Whips & Fire" plays this out with absolute (and absolutely addicting) aplomb. The vocals are characterful indeed, blending into slick harmonies on infectious choruses whilst Rein’s wah-drenched solos are splendidly delivered. Once again, this is that rich 'n' rewarding middle point between hard rock and heavy metal, and Magick Touch finesse it with a truly magickal touch.

In these times where trends seem to come and go on an almost monthly basis, sometimes it’s never more satisfying than to simply sit back and rock out. And that’s what Magick Touch make you do. Bow before "Blades, Chains, Whips & Fire" and salute the eternal glory of the riff!

Release date, cover art, and tracklisting for Magick Touch's "Blades, Chains, Whips & Fire" will be announced shortly. For now, get "Under the Gun" here: More...

2016 Metal Newcomers Explored, Pt. V

Whether you agreed with our 2016 Staff Awards or not, one of the things we take great pride in at MetalUnderground.com is being able to unearth some new acts (or acts just releasing a full length album in the current year) that you should take notice of.

We pour over literally thousands of new albums between all of the staff and there is a reason: the quest for great metal. I'm sure I do not stand alone in the belief that once you lose the desire to seek out new bands, you've given up on the scene. Metal should be perpetual and though there are so many acts out there trying to get attention, this should not dissuade you from the hunt. One of the biggest problems in metal fandom is falling into the lazy trap of saying "no good music is made these days" or "nothing can ever be better than the music of the 80's, or 70's, or 90's." The hunt for great music is the driving force for passion for music and it is imperative as fans that we continue to do it.

So for this final installment of Newcomers 2016, I wanted to draw attention some bands not nominated, but would fall in line as "6-10" on my list for 2016. Hopefully, you will find something you like. More...

Magick Touch Signs With Edged Circle

Edged Circle Productions is proud to announce the signing of the hard rock stalwarts from Magick Touch. The first fruit of this signing will be the Norwegian band's debut album, "Electrick Sorcery," which will be released early next year on both CD and vinyl formats.

An exact release date, as well as cover and track listing, will be announced soon, but digital streaming of Magick Touch's "Electrick Sorcery" is available now through Spotify.

A statement from the band reads: "Magick Touch explore the mystery and magic of the hard rock riff, a cosmic entity that has amused and frightened mankind for ages. By utilising the unholy trinity of electric guitar, thunderous bass, and explosive drums, the band seeks to evoke and further enhance the elements that human kind in a casual manner refers to as hard rock.

"Whereas paying great respect to the groundbreaking and inspirational work of ancient sorcerers like Lynott, The Youngs & Scott, Blackmore, Coverdale, Stanley, Frehley, Simmons, and young master Hudson, Magick Touch do not shy away from adding contemporary (magic) touches to the traditions of the Elders. Proud to be in the service of the greater universal powers, there is still hard rock to be revealed – believe the true wonders to come!" More...
