Earthside Issues Cinematic New Music Video

Modern, progressive band Earthside has unleashed a brand new cinematic music video for "A Dream In Static," featuring Dan Tompkins (Tesseract, Skyharbor).

The song is the title track from the widely acclaimed debut album - The groups conceptual mission statement, is a story of purposeful sacrifice and existential yearning told across sweeping instrumental movements and adventurous vocal composition. Earthside entertain an ever-changing sound that is equally engrossing. alongside a work of cinematic art.

The video is a spellbinding and captivating explosion of cinematography that captures the true meaning behind the song.

Daniel Tompkins says this about working with Earthside on the track: "Earthside are a group of extremely talented and driven musicians. Working with them was nothing short of pleasure; they had a specific vision and definitely helped draw out some exciting tones in my vocal performance"

The clip was directed by Erez Bader of Silent Flight Productions (The Dear Hunter, The Contortionist).

Ben Shambrom says this about the song: "All four members of Earthside contributed significant compositional ideas to 'A Dream In Static', and the melodies and lyrics Dan so expertly delivers are also a reflection of that collaborative writing style, with three of the four of us also writing the vocal ideas as well.

"'A Dream In Static' seems to be one of the songs on the record that most immediately catches people and elicits a strong emotional response. Knowing this, we wanted to give the track and Daniel Tompkins' truly outstanding work on it the spotlight it deserved. The narrative video we crafted alongside director Erez Bader of Silent Flight Productions afforded us this opportunity and adds a new layer of depth and self-discovery to the song itself."

Earthside Releases "Crater" Video

New Haven-based progressive ensemble Earthside is gearing up for a North American tour later this month supporting Norwegian metal act Leprous. Today, the band is giving fans a glimpse at one of the key aspects of its live performance in the form of the backing video for the track "Crater."

The visual component to Earthside's live "Crater" performance, complete with special guest vocalist Björn Strid of Soilwork, can be viewed below. Earthside comments:

"We make every effort with our music to give you all something unique and heartfelt that breaks from the norm. We did this by taking a no-limitations approach to our songwriting on A Dream in Static and working with a number of incredible guest musicians. It follows in suit that our live show should also bring something special to the Earthside mythos.

"We collaborated with several amazing vocalists for A Dream in Static and, unfortunately, we can't bring them all on the road with us. To avoid compromising the stellar performances of Björn [Strid], Dan [Tompkins], Lajon [Witherspoon], and Eric [Zirlinger] during our live shows, we came up with a unique solution. We captured full-body video of their performances and infused them with intense visuals to create a powerful multimedia element that we project alongside each of these songs."

The upcoming September/October tour reunites Earthside and Leprous following a European stint with Voyager earlier this year. Binary Code and Dissona will round out the North American tour package. A full list of dates can be seen below.

Earthside drummer Ben Shanbrom states: "Leprous is truly a part of the next generation of progressive music. In less than a year they have become one of Earthside's absolute favorite bands - they're good friends, great people, and unbelievable musicians and performers. It was an amazing experience touring with them and Voyager earlier this year across Europe, and we are so happy to be supporting them in our home country this fall." More...

Earthside Premieres Epic Drum Playthrough

Connecticut's cinematic and progressive outfit Earthside released the stunning debut album "A Dream In Static" last year (still streaming here in full if you haven't heard it), the strength of which sees Earthside joining Leprous on tour this coming April.

Today we're giving you another look at a track from that album with an exclusive premiere of an epic drum playthrough video for “Mob Mentality” single.

Featuring video filmed, directed, and edited by Mike Magilnick of Watching Earth Productions, catch Ben Shanbrom performing the song below. Ben also had this to say:

"I almost had a nervous breakdown learning ‘Mob Mentality.’ Earthside songs most often come together in a democratic and organic fashion - we start with our individual ideas and build around each other, allowing each member to make his mark and play to his individual strengths. That is not at all how this song worked out!

“Jamie (our guitarist) wrote almost every section of this track - from the orchestration, down to the cymbal accents. Everything had to lock and flow in a very specific way to allow all of the elements to work together in harmony (or intended dissonance). Most crushing of all was the fact that Jamie programmed most of the demo drum parts in Logic without my consultation, resulting in more than a few sections that both delighted my ears and crippled me with despair! New Haven-based progressive ensemble Earthside has been nominated by the North American Independent Rock Music Association for several 2016 NAIRMA Awards.

The award show, set to take place at the Yost Theater in Santa Ana, California on January 22, recognizes creative and technical excellence within the genres of rock, hard rock, metal, punk and hardcore music.

Earthside has been nominated for four unsigned artist categories including Outstanding Album ("A Dream in Static"), Outstanding Song ("Mob Mentality"), Outstanding Video ("Mob Mentality") and Outstanding Keyboardist (Frank Sacramone).

"It is truly an honor for Earthside to be nominated in four categories by the NAIRMAs," commented keyboardist Frank Sacramone. "We have worked for years creating and producing the music that is Earthside, and it is humbling to see our work recognized in this way. I'm very happy that there is finally an award ceremony that includes unsigned artists! I can tell that the NAIRMAs really care about the music by including unsigned categories. I wish all of the bands the best of luck and look forward to meeting everyone at NAMM as well."

In addition to the NAIRMA Awards nominations, Earthside has also announced a handful of European tour dates supporting Leprous and special guest Voyager on "The Congregation Tour Part 2." Earthside Releasing "A Dream In Static"

New Haven-based progressive ensemble Earthside will release debut album, "A Dream in Static," on October 23.

Earthside has also now revealed the music video for "Mob Mentality," featuring guest vocals from Sevendust frontman Lajon Witherspoon and a full orchestral arrangement composed by guitarist Jamie van Dyck and performed by the Moscow Studio Symphony Orchestra (MSSO). Check out the new music video, directed by Patrick Kendall, in the player below.

"Making this video was a fulfilling process because as such a transdisciplinary project, it crossed our paths with talented individuals across the arts," van Dyck explained. "We worked with dancers, choreographers, directors, editors, colorists, professional orchestral musicians, a conductor, an orchestra contractor, a wardrobe/costume person, and of course a rock star vocalist. Involving all these people in our art reaffirmed the value of what we're doing and sets the stage for the collaborative spirit we hope to continue to embody as we reach across the arts into the worlds of film, dance, video games, and other visual arts."
