After nine albums, countless world tours and more than a dozen years of leading their scene, FU MANCHU – perhaps the definitive Southern California hard rock band of the last decade – have signed a worldwide recording agreement with The Century Family. Their tenth, as-yet-untitled album will surface in early 2007 on Liquor and Poker Music in America and on Century Media Records in Europe. An Asian release will be confirmed in the coming months.
“FU MANCHU is one of the most influential rock groups of recent times,” says Marco Barbieri, president of The Century Family and Liquor and Poker Music’s “high roller.” “We’re proud and excited to welcome the band to our roster, and we look forward to being part of a new chapter of their impressive history.” More...
MTV.com reports that Nebula's "Lightbringer" in comic Dane Cook's new HBO series "Tourgasm," which starts airing May 7. The track, which is from the band's new album Apollo, will play while Cook addresses the camera to explain the setup for one of the scenes in the show.
"Fever Frey", the first single from NEBULA's new album "Apollo" is still available on the web site of the band's label, liquorandpokermusic.com.
"Apollo", the band's second full-length on Liquor and Poker and fourth overall, was produced by Daniel Rey (RAMONES, MISFITS, L7) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (THE MARS VOLTA, SONIC YOUTH, FRANZ FERDINAND).
"Fever Frey", the first single from NEBULA's new album "Apollo" (street date: Feb. 21), has been posted on the web site of the band's label, liquorandpokermusic.com.
The release — NEBULA's first with new bassist Tom Davies — will also feature a live video of "Future Days" from the band’s recent Japanese trek.
Having already completed a national tour since finishing tracking "Apollo" along with several other high-profile gigs such as ESPN's X-Games and a CMJ showcase, NEBULA are looking to keep themselves on the road throughout 2006. An announcement is expected soon regarding their first tour in support of "Apollo".
Nebula was also recently featured on Century Media's "Metal For The Masses Volume 4."
Two and a half years after Liquor and Poker Music launched with Atomic Ritual, the acclaimed third release from L.A. power trio Nebula, the upstart rock indie comes full circle with the group’s new album "Apollo." Due Feb. 21, the record is a cosmic cocktail of heavy riffs, electric blues and psychedelic space rock.
Produced by Daniel Rey (Ramones, Misfits, L7) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Mars Volta, Sonic Youth, Franz Ferdinand), and recorded mostly at Hollywood Sound Recorders (Danzig, System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers), the 14-track album sees the addition of new bassist Tom Davies. It also features a bonus live video of new song "Future Days" recorded during Nebula's Japanese tour last spring. A demo of another new track, "Lightbringer," is currently available on the new Century Family/Hot Topic compilation Metal For The Masses Volume Four, as well as Liquor and Poker Music samplers included with the new releases by labelmates The Thieves and Fireball Ministry.
Formed in 1997 after vocalist/guitarist Eddie Glass and drummer Ruben Romano left desert rock pioneers Fu Manchu, Nebula released two acclaimed full-lengths on Sub Pop Records, along with three notable EPs, prior to signing with Liquor and Poker. During the group's formative years, they toured with the likes of Nashville Pussy, Mudhoney, Corrosion of Conformity and The Hellacopters, among others.
Since finishing basic tracks for Apollo, Nebula has already done one nationwide tour (including a showcase at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City) and performed high-profile hometown gigs at ESPN’s X-Games and the annual Sunset Junction festival, the latter alongside the likes of New York Dolls, Eagles of Death Metal and Burning Brides. Expect an announcement regarding 2006 touring plans in the coming weeks.
Continuing the highly successful Metal For The Masses series, the Century Family unseals Metal For The Masses Volume Four, once again exclusive to Hot Topic locations nationwide. The 2-disc compilation contains 40 tracks totaling over 2 hours of music. The artwork for Volume Four incorporates the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse to stunning effect and also depicts the album art for each featured artist within as well as additional artist and album information. Volume Four comes housed in a deluxe double Digipak and is available now at all Hot Topic locations nationwide.
Started in 2003, Metal For The Masses has become The Century Family's largest-selling compilation series, replacing the budget priced Identity series. The Metal For The Masses series is also one of Hot Topic's longest-running exclusive compilations. Selling well over 60,000 copies each, Metal For The Masses continues to disseminate the word of metal.
