Israeli heavy metal group Orphaned Land has posted a message online, discussing their recent supporting slot for Metallica in Israel. Their message reads as follows:
“It was 17 years ago, in 1993 when I saw Metallica for the first time. There were barely any metal concerts of foreign bands in Israel that time. I still remember that day, I was 17 years old only, the moment where they played 'Fade To Black' is for sure the highlight moment of my youth. Time went by and here we are, finding ourselves sharing the stage with the fathers of metal. Orphaned Land exist for 18 years now, we accomplished some success ourselves and toured the world. Still, I cannot remember when I was exited like that, the fact that we even had a small chat with the Metallica members is a moment to remember, I know that they are just humans, but they are our childhood heroes! This was such a night to remember and a great closure to this youth moment I had with Metallica.
"Unfortunately, we saw only six songs from the amazing Metallica concert and then we had to run to the airport to catch a flight to play at the equally fantastic Rock Hard festival in Germany. We arrived on Sunday at an amazing venue, a sunny day and a rare atmosphere, some kind of a big metallic family gathering. The fans were great, we also met many friends who came, everyone was red like a tomato (from the sun) and the show was one hell of a party.
"Thank you Metallica!!! Thank you Rock Hard fest!!"

Israeli heavy metal outfit Orphaned Land has posted a new video online, which takes a look at the making of their latest music video, "Sapari." You can check it out below. The song comes from the bands fourth studio album, "The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR." Speaking on the song, the video and its meaning, vocalist Kobi explained: "With the video clip, we are trying to reflect this inner search of a man and his spirit. The actor, Matti Atlas, was filmed in a room, sitting in a box, writing scared stuff. This is the exact way they used to sit and write in the old days in Yemen. He is writing… searching. At one point, he starts to freak out; to write on the walls, on his body, getting even possessed in a way. He is alone, confused, searching for answers and meaning, just as we all are.
"Sapari (means ‘tell me’ in hebrew) is a 17th century poem written by Sa'adia ben Amram, a jewish Poet who lived in Yemen back then. The song is a duet between the poet and his soul. The poet seeks for his soul and asks her where is ‘she'. The soul, described as a dove in the song, answers that she is at the high chamber, heavens, preparing herself to wear the shape of a human body. In a way, this song reflects the inner search that every human is going through. W e are getting to know our self more and more each and every day, and our journey here is far from being easy." Israel's Orphaned Land has posted a new track, "Disciples of the Sacred Oath II," on MySpace.
Vocalist Kobi Farhi comments: "'Disciples of the Sacred Oath II' is a heavy song, both musically and lyrically, and it is one of the most important tracks of the album by its meaning. Indeed, it calls for a laying down of arms to realize that the warriors are first of all brothers: 'Lay down your swords, blood and flesh you share... Shall we see the end of war, bloodbrothers?' It is definitely the most outspoken text we ever wrote on this subject. Furthermore, as this song contains Arabic lyrics, we would like to dedicate it to our Arab fans and we hope that one day we will sing it together in a show in their home countries!"
Orphaned Land's new album, "The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR," is a concept album about the warrior of light. The album was mixed by Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and will be released on January 25th in Europe and February 9th in the US via Century Media.

The festival takes place in the town of Wacken, Germany between August 5th and 7th.
Vocalist Kobi Fahri of Orphaned Land has issued the following statement about streaming a new album sample online at the band's MySpace page:
"Hello there to all the warriors of light! For those of you who don't know, each year the longest night of the year happens at Dec. 21st and from this day on the nights get shorter while the days get longer. On a spiritual level this symbolizes the resurrection of the light and the death of darkness (the opposite happens at every June 21st).
"Since our new album 'The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR' is a concept album about the warrior of light, we decided to share with you another short track titled – 'Va'yehi Or' (in Hebrew - let there be light) - please note that our album is 78.22min long and these are just small tastes of the whole journey - 'The crimson touch of hope still fights, through the veil truth doth shine - let there be light!'"
“The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR” will be released on January 25th (February 9th in the US) via Century Media.

Orphaned Land has issued the following update about streaming a new album sample online:
"Hello there to all the warriors of light! Orphaned Land is working very hard these days to promote the new album 'The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR.' We're doing a lot of interviews and media news and symbolically it is the only time of the year where the 3 Abrahamic religions are celebrating a holiday at the same time.
"We are taking a small break here to congratulate our Christian fans for Christmas, our Muslim fans for the beginning of the new Muslim year and our Jewish fans - happy Hanukah!
And above all - to the metalheads all around there - the metal scene is a great example to people, leaders and politicians of how to create a global language, how to accept one another despite our differences, and above all and because of that - we are proud to be metalheads! May this synergy and time of unification grow in us to learn and to understand each other better in the Middle East and all over the world. Thy name shall be henceforth ORwarriOR Peace, Shalom, Salam.
"As a first teaser track for the band’s new album 'The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR' the song 'Sapari' has also been launched, so check out our MySpace player!"
Porcupine Tree has issued the following statement Steven Wilson mixing the upcoming Orphaned Land album:
"Steven Wilson recently played keyboards and mixed the fourth album by Israeli progressive metal band Orphaned Land. For those who have never heard the band, they are perhaps best described as what Opeth might sound like if they had come from the Middle East instead of Scandanavia. The music has a similar scope and degree of layered sophistication. But the sound of Orphaned Land is very much inspired by their roots, sung in English, Hebrew and Arabic, and featuring many traditional middle eastern instruments. The album The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR is an ambitious and impressive 75 minute conceptual piece combining heavy music and breathtaking beauty. It is released by Century Media in several editions on 9th February 2010 in the US and 25th January 25th in Europe."
On February, 9th 2010 (January 25th in Europe) Israel’s Orphaned Land will release their fourth studio album "The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR." The album was mixed by Steven Wilson, who is also responsible for several keyboard parts on the new album. The band is preparing to launch a series of webisodes documenting the making of the album. The first album trailer can be viewed below. The clip features commentary from Steven Wilson and the band mixed in with live performance footage from Tel Aviv.

Israel’s Orophaned Land will release their highly-anticipated fourth studio opus, “The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR,” in Europe on January 25th, 2010. Mixed by Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree, Opeth), who is also responsible for several keyboard parts on the new album, “The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR” turns out to be a concept album taking Orphaned Land's unique brand of exotic, heavy music to soaring new heights in terms of complexity and catchiness.
Vocalist Kobi Farhi comments on the album’s concept and the new promo photo:
“As people that were born into the tragedy of our region, we have always been devoted to creating harmony between conflicts, a musical heaven on earth, a tango between God & Satan. Even in the album’s artwork we combined Hebrew and Arabic, regardless of the fight between Jews and Muslims. I found a Jordanian guy, specialized in calligraphic artwork. He took letters from Hebrew and Arabic and moulded them in his art to create a symbol of peace. Same goes for our band photo, where we portrayed a synergy between the three monotheistic religions, that believe in the same God and yet, ridiculously have been killing each other for centuries 'in the name of God' and turned the holy land into an orphaned land. Naturally we continued this idea of union on a musical level as well and the result is as always crazy, it's a miracle – in our concerts: our Jewish fans sing in Arabic and our Muslim fans sing in Hebrew, brave friendships have spawned and our Middle Eastern metal music destroys all this political witchcraft we have been trapped in for so long. This is a musical journey of hope in lands of war, creating heaven on earth, building a new Jerusalem.”
