U.K. black metal band Heathen Deity just checked in with this statement about recording and upcoming live shows:
"Hails brothers and sisters! Only a quick update, Last weekend saw a very successful rehearsal for us, an intense six hour rehearsal with only one break for a pint to be precise!
"The live set is sounding a lot better, tighter and more refined as the new members settle in to their respective roles within the band. Our rebirth as a live band at Blackwood will be a memorable one for us and I hope for all you grim bastards who will be venturing to the frozen forests of deepest darkest Cumbria in October.
"Recording-wise, the drum pre-production is almost complete now, and as soon as we have received the last few tracks we can start fleshing out the songs.
"Thank you for all your support during the rebirth of Heathen Deity, The path has been a long and arduous task indeed for Azrael and myself, I for one am confident that our new line up will be around for many years to come.... you poor .... poor bastards! COME ON YOU EVIL FUCKS! ARE YOU ALL DEAD OUT THERE?!!"
UK black metallers HEATHEN DEITY have announced a “new” line up that will both record the forthcoming album, as well as tour live. “New” however is not quite the right description, as the band welcomes back into its ranks original guitarists Azrael (ETHEREAL FOREST) and Balen, and also drummer Sathan (PANTHEON I, ETHEREAL FOREST, TWISTED AUTUMN DARKNESS). Frontman and founder Dagon will temporarily take on bass duties in addition to vocals, until a permanent bass player can be found.
Work is progressing well on preparations for the new album, which had been delayed partly because of Azrael and Sathan’s move to Norway and partly because of an accident that left Dagon, a veteran of the UK black metal scene, with a severely fractured ankle, virtually house bound, and barely able to walk for more than a year. Now that he’s fully healed and with two steel plates and four bolts in his leg as a memento, the band are ready to record, and it is anticipated that this will take place both in the UK and Norway. Artists Noted Artist KRIS VERWIMP, whose extraordinary illustrations bring to life a fantasy world of proud warriors and wondrous beasts, has once again produced the cover artwork for the forthcoming release from Epic Pagan Metallers CROM.
Walter (CROM) Grosse commented "Kris is a long time friend, and we have a history of collaboration, so he was the obvious choice to produce the artwork, capturing so perfectly as it does the atmosphere created by the songs themselves."
The album, entitled “Vengeance”, is in the very final stages of completion and includes SERAPH (drums) and V. SANTURA (some additional guitars & additional choirs) of German Black Metallers DARK FORTRESS in the line up, plus a guest appearance by DAGON, vocalist from UK Black Metallers HEATHEN DEITY, performing a spoken intro on one of the tracks. Labels are currently being sought. Two tracks from the “Vengeance” album can be heard on the band website at www.croms-revenge.de.
CROM is himself a former guitarist with DARK FORTRESS and also has a Black Metal side project with DARK FORTRESS vocalist AZATHOTH. The band, SINDECADE, released an MCD entitled “Terrorcrowned” in 2006, a track from which can be heard here.
The CROM artwork can be seen here along with more examples of VERWIMP's work and designs for album covers.
British Black metallers HECATE ENTHRONED have issued the following update:
“A quick update on the line up position, Pete has returned to the fold on keyboards and has settled in very well, he has learnt the stuff very quickly and we are looking forward to writing with him. We have known him for some years and he has fitted in very well with the band as we expected.
Dagon of HEATHEN DEITY has joined us on vocals, again he has fitted in with the band and has learnt the set very quickly. We played a gig the other week in Stockport and both new members acquited themselves brilliantly, we look forward to more gigs and writting some killer new tracks...watch this space.”
