Dutch female-fronted gothic metal band AUTUMN was recently forced to cancel its previously announced German headlining tour and appearance at the Metal Female Voices Fest in Wieze, Belgium due to "serious health problems" suffered by the group's lead singer, Nienke De Jong.
Nienke De Jong has since issued the following update on the matter:
"The past few weeks I've been working on my recovery, trying to get back on my feet. I am happy to say that the effort is starting to pay off, I'm gradualy feeling better and better.
"The show at the Goudvishal next weekend (November 4) is yet still a bit too early at this stage, so unfortunately I won't be able to make it, for which I'm very sorry....to say the least.
"But on a more positive note: if things keep progressing like this, I hope to make it to the next show on the 17th (Lelystad). So, I will keep you guys posted and see you real soon!
"Last but not least: thank you for all your kind messages! It's comforting to know that so many people care!!!"
AUTUMN recently released the video for its song "Satellites". Watch it below. The track comes off the band's latest effort, "My New Time", which entered the Dutch album chart at position No. 72.
Produced by Arno Krabman at Graveland Studio and mixed by Jochem Jacobs at Split Second Sound Studio, "My New Time" is described as "a powerful, heavy yet melodic album which will impress gothic rock/metal fans all over the world!" More...
Metal Blade Records has issued the following update:
Due to acute and unfortunately serious health problems of AUTUMN's singer Nienke we have to inform you that all shows for October will be cancelled.
We will keep you updated on her situation and the planning of upcoming shows. At the moment we cannot confirm a new tour period thus the tickets for the German can be returned at the box offices, where they have been purchased.
Autumn's statement: "We very much regret the situation and promise to make it up to you in a later stage! Besides this first of all we wish Nienke well and hope to have her back on stage with us any time soon."
A few words from Nienke about the situation:
I've been suffering currently from strong heart-palpitations combined with difficulty in breathing when performing or undertaking heavy activities and followed up by severe migraine and extreme tiredness.
Although seeking medical advice, the problem seems to get worse instead of better. At a certain point my situation forces me now to cancel a few shows… Being young and stubborn (and eager to perform) I would like to keep pushing myself to get on stage. Now, more research to the nature of this affliction leads me to the conclusion that I have to follow my doctor's advice and take care of myself and my current situation.
This must be one of the hardest decisions ever, and it brings me to tears to bow out right at this crucial and beautiful period for the band, my band-mates, the fans, and all the people we work with (Metal Blade, our booking-agencies, our management).
However, I want to get well again, I want to be able to give the audience what they deserve. Lately I felt I couldn't give you my best.... and that's the only way I want to do it.
I want to thank each and every one for coming to our shows, buying our album and supporting us in the past few months. Knowing that you guys are out there will surely help me to get back on my feet again. And as Schwarzenegger once said: I'll be back!!!!"
Biggest hug ever, Nienke/Ninx."
Stay tuned for further updates on this situation.

AUTUMN has issued the following update on their latest video shoot: “Last week, we have done the shooting of the video for our new single "Satellites", from the "My New Time" album. Self proclaimed "death rap" artist Necro has issued the follwing statement from his official Myspace:
"I decided to leave the tour collectively with my manager and booking agent (both tour organizers) because we felt the tour’s demographic was not receiving hip hop well. I was facing hostile, disrespectful crowds and was returning the same energy back ten-fold by being more aggressive than them.
It was making a lot of people in the tour crew nervous and there was concern someone might get hurt (NOT ME). It was also being suggested that maybe I tone down my live show and not antagonize the already antagonistic crowd. I couldn’t roll with that as it’s not my style. I was holding back enough as it is but there is a line. All the bands on the tour loved us and everyone behind the scenes knew we displayed major heart and never once got phased by the hostility. We finished every show with middle fingers up and a big "Fuck You" to the crowd.
I will make one thing clear for the haters: we NEVER got booed OFF the stage. Not once. Yes a ton of emo kids booed us at every show, but we had a twenty-five minute set every night and we stayed on stage for every minute of it, and we represented. Every show had at least 100 to 200 Necro fans in the pit tearing it up, and our meet and greets were incredible!
It’s just a shame these little kids are so close-minded. The majority of the hate was coming from mop top emo sixteen-year olds who have no clue who the originators of metal are, and didn’t respect my rest in peace chant to metal legends (Dime, Cliff, Chuck, Piggy, SOB).
As far as the tour organizers and I are concerned, you are my people so it’s all love and I’m thankful for the opportunity to prove I can murder it in the worst of situations. This actually did a lot for me and is just one move in many my team will make to blow Necro up"

Metal Blade Records has announced the signing of rising gothic metal band from the Netherlands, AUTUMN. AUTUMN stands out in their overcrowded genre of female-fronted bands by infusing their music with a groove not present in other bands in the genre.
Guitarist Jens van der Valk comments: “We're delighted to have the opportunity to work with Metal Blade in securing a strong position at the front lines of female fronted gothic metal/rock, both for Autumn and Metal Blade. After having worked with major labels Sony and Universal for our previous CD's, we're convinced the right move for us is to team up with a record label that has its feet firmly planted in the heavier scene, while retaining power and flexibility in an ever changing musical environment. We couldn't have wished for a better partner and we're confident that, with Metal Blade's renowned commitment and power to strike, we'll go far with this relationship! On a personal note: it sort of feels like coming home, since I've been affiliated with Metal Blade in the past, during my years in God Dethroned. That's been an experience that has remained my benchmark for a healthy business relationship and I can't wait to pick up where we left off and get this show on the road!”
AUTUMN recently completed recording their third album “My New Time”. Produced by Arno Krabman at Graveland studio, the album is currently being mixed by Jochem Jacobs at Split Second Sound Studio. Having worked with Arno and Jochem, it’s obvious the sound of the album will be powerful, transparent and heavy!
