On October 24, 2006, Restless Records will release "Butchering The Beatles" — featuring the biggest, the baddest, the heaviest all-star line-up ever assembled to honor what is arguably the greatest band ever — THE BEATLES. All-in-all, over 50 internationally known recording artists bring their unique bone-crushing slant to these remarkable songs. Produced by Grammy award-winning producer/guitarist Bob Kulick and ace engineer Brett Chassen, "Butchering The Beatles" features 12 new, ass-kicking versions of THE BEATLES' chart-topping hits, including "Hey Jude", "I Feel Fine" and "Day Tripper", plus the more esoteric "Hey Bulldog", barked out by the legendary Alice Cooper and "Tomorrow Never Knows", uniquely interpreted by the iconic Billy Idol, alongside classic concept songs like "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and "Magical Mystery Tour".
When asked by Guitar Player magazine what possessed him to go all metal on THE BEATLES, Bob Kulick stated that, "BEATLES songs are the Holy Grail. They're the best rock songs ever written. These new recordings are totally faithful, yet completely different. Billy Gibbons singing 'Revolution' or (MOTÖRHEAD frontman) Lemmy singing 'Back In The USSR' are not exactly Paul McCartney or John Lennon. And of course, the guitar solo sections were lengthened to accommodate all the artists' solo styles."

KING'S X frontman Doug Pinnick has posted the following message on the band's official MySpace profile:
"I am home from the last KING'S X tour. It was awesome to play for and meet many of you people at the shows.
"In this time that I have off from touring, I plan on writing a few tunes for KING'S X and solo stuff. The project I did with Jeff [Ament, bass] and Mike [McCready, guitar] from PEARL JAM will be finished soon! They (PEARL JAM) are on a world tour now but since I am home I am planning to do what I have to to finish my vocals, which has been the hold-up.
"I am heading back to L.A. to get in on the mixing of ZERO 1, Hal Sparks' band that I have been producing with Hal. And Will Calhoun from LIVING COLOUR and I have been talking about doing a record together also.
"I just got a memo that KING'S X will be playing the 'Rock Palast' [TV show] in Germany October 20th! This means that there will be more shows booked around that time for you guys living in Europe! And we plan on recording a new KING'S X CD with Michael Wagener in the near future also."
KING'S X's latest album, "Ogre Tones", was released in September 2005 via InsideOut Music. The band's first release for the label was produced by Michael Wagener (METALLICA, ALICE COOPER, SKID ROW).
In related KING'S X news, guitarist Ty Tabor is tentatively scheduled to release his new solo album, "Rock Garden", on September 12. You can check out two songs from the upcoming CD, "Wading In" and "Play," on their MySpace page.
In other news, Tabor has announced that he is collaborating with Wally Farkas of GALACTIC COWBOYS on a new side project, dubbed XENUPHOBE. Described as "a hypnotic soundscape that takes the listener on an hour-long journey to the innermost depths of one's mind," the group's debut album, "1.0" "goes to places only hinted on previous works such as 'In the New Age' (Tabor's highly collectable 1996 ambient release) and tracks such as 'At the End of the Day' and 'Song for Sybo' (Farkas' compositions from final two GALACTIC COWBOYS releases)," according to a press release.
KING'S X's October 20, 2006 concert at the Harmonie in Bonn, Germany will be filmed for the WDR TV program "Rockpalast" as part of their "Crossroads" series. A European tour is in the works as well.
KING'S X frontman Doug Pinnick has issued the following statement in response to rumors that the band were on the verge of breaking up:
"I wish I could set down and answer all the questions, and speculations. I will try to make light of some of the things said and suggested. You guys are wonderful so please dont take anything I say as negative or bitching... There's no anger here... just love.
"Here goes... We never fit in; no matter what we do, we can't get the masses on board, and we've done everything there is. I know you all have suggestions of what we could do do get more successful, but we have done everything there is to do! Or at least inquired about it all... We just can't get the folks on board. Woodstock '94 we played for 300 thousand people, and the next week on SoundScan we sold about 200 CDs. Then the week later nothing to comment on.... The rest of the bands on the bill — JACKYL, SHERYL CROW, LIVE, CANDLEBOX, etc. — sold millions!!! We got the best slot of the day, and USA Today, Howard Stern, MTV said we were the best band that day! We sold nothing... and it changed my life. I cut my hair and almost gave up! Plus I was going through midlife crisis. I started getting panic attacks and got blinded by my self-hate. 'Ear Candy' was the result. More...
King's X hit the stage of the Winston-Salem night club Ziggy's on Thursday the 18Th, to a very anxious and receptive crowd. the set was electrifying and the band was amazing as usual, pulling off complex three part harmonies at will, while never missing a beat, and at the same time finding time to fit unscheduled jam sessions which included not just them but also the opening act Mardo.
The Devin Townsend Band will be playing a one-off show with King's X on April 24th at the Red Room in Vancouver, BC. The bands will play two full sets, no opening bands. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Strapping Young Lad has also secured a second-stage slot at this year's Ozzfest, which is scheduled to kick off July 1 in San Francisco, California.
