The newly completed lineup of AGE OF DESPAIR, featuring Shawn McCoy guitarist of CONFESSOR along side Brian Zuccaro (vocals), Marcus Williams (guitar), Ali Lugo (bass) and Abdala Saghir (drums), has tapped Chris Hill (JAM PAIN SOCIETY, DRILL 187, ACE FREHLEY) to produce the group's forthcoming studio album.
The band comments, "We think Chris is the next great producer to come out of the Raleigh area along side John Custer (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, CRY OF LOVE, DAG) and Dick Hodgins (HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH, CONFESSOR). Our early report from the studio… The drums sound like cannons and the guitars are as heavy as tombstones grinding together. Absolutely brutal!"
The group has secured management and is shopping for a label and booking agent that will put the band to work. Shawn states, "We hope to tour non-stop through 2011 and beyond." AGE OF DESPAIR has scheduled a few one-off shows at Volume 11 in Raleigh, North Carolina on Sunday, March 7 with KITTIE & GOD FORBID and as direct support to OBITUARY on May 29.

CONFESSOR vocalist Scott Jeffreys has recently made the following announcement:
"We are proud to announce the addition of Chris Nolan as lead guitarist of CONFESSOR. Shawn McCoy decided to pursue other interests and has left the band on good terms. We are very excited to have Chris rejoin the band. For those of you who did not know, Chris is the guitarist who stepped in, back in the day, when Ivan decided to leave the band to go back to school. Soon after Chris joined Scott also decided to leave the band to go back to school. So Chris, unfortunately, was not in CONFESSOR for long before the breakup. At that time Chris went on to continue to play with Steve, Cary and Brian in their new band FLY MACHINE. We are all very happy to have Chris in the band and look forward to recording the next album with him."
"Despite some rumours, our label, Season of Mist is very supportive and anxious for a new record. We are pleased to report that the writing process for the new album is coming along quite well and we look to do some pre-production recording in the next few months."
Season of Mist has had to postpone the releases of 4 out of 5 special deluxe Metalpak DVDs. These are:
ARCTURUS "Shipwrecked in Oslo"
CONFESSOR "Live in Oslo"
RED HARVEST "Harvest Bloody Harvest"
TSJUDER "Norwegian Apocalypse"
The first deluxe Metalpak DVD, MACABRE's "Tales of Slaughter and Slaying", will come out on July 17th.
CONFESSOR singer Scott Jeffreys has made the first round taping in his region of the new CBS "ROCK STAR" series. This TV show is to select a lead singer for new all-star band SUPERNOVA, formed by drummer Tommy Lee (MOTLEY CRUE), bassist Jason Newsted (ex-METALLICA, VOIVOD), and guitarist Gilby Clarke (ex-GUNS N' ROSES). The new lead singer is to be chosen from 16 hopefuls when the second edition of CBS's ROCK STAR returns summer 2006.
"I was actually just curious to see if they would put me through. Knowing Jason is in VOIVOD, I thought it could be intriguing to see how far it might go", Jeffreys explains.

From the Season Of Mist camp:
Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of the progressive doom-metal legends, Confessor! Emerging from over a decade of hibernation, the band has returned to form, hungrier and more focused than ever.
Once dubbed, "The world's most obstinately technical metal band", Confessor will again continue to make the words "heavy" synonymous with "progressive" and "provocative" in an effort to challenge and inspire their listeners.
As a precursor to the band's upcoming long player, 'Unraveled', due out in early autumn, Season of Mist will release the limited edition CD-single, 'Sour Times'. Scheduled for a June release, this soon-to-be collector's item will mainly be made available for purchase to the die-hard fans. The release will contain 2 new songs; 'Sour Times' and 'Hibernation', a radio edit of the title track plus a live video! Also included on the limited CD with be PC Interactive gems such as band photos, a screen saver and more!
