Pain Announce New Touring Guitarist

Swedish metallers PAIN, the band fronted by HYPOCRISY's Peter Tägtgren, has recruited René Sebastian (photo) from ICONDEMN to play guitar on the second leg of PAIN's European tour as the support act for NIGHTWISH.

Commented PAIN: "We're looking forward to meet [René] for the first time on the plane to Hamburg on Sunday. You will meet him on stage on Monday. René has promised us total f*kin mayhem on stage and I'm sure that's what you'll get. We'll try to soften him up with a couple of beers for you."

"The last eight days have been really relaxing and recharging for us. Now we are eager to go out on this second leg of the tour and kick your asses again (and maybe someone will kick ours again). Twenty-five shows remain and we're really looking forward to play in France (again), Spain, Portugal and Great Britain etc. Last mentioned is untouched ground for us which makes it even more exciting. Kick ass!!!" More...

Pain Has A Run In With The Law

PAIN have issued the following update from their current European tour supporting NIGHTWISH

"Here we go again. We left Frankfurt around noon today cause we had to wait for a new driver first. The new driver arrived and our 200 kilometer journey towards Bamberg began. After two hours of driving with only 20 minutes to go we got pulled over by the police, who ordered us out of the bus and had us sit in a line at the sidewalk. They searched us one by one and had us remove socks and shoes for about 40 minutes while they searched the whole bus and turned all of our bags upside down. When they were finished they came out with a camera case and asked us who it belonged to. It contained a small plastic bag with a suspicious white powder and was owned by our new driver who of course claimed he never seen it before. Well, to make a long story short we're stuck somewhere on autobahn without a driver, it's pitch black and raining outside. We're trying to enjoy ourselves watching Terror on Elmstreet on a laptop eating cold can food with piss warm red wine. Another day off well spent. Everything taste better with Freddy Krueger."

Pain Mainman Talks About Assault In Leipzig

PAIN members Peter Tägtgren (guitar/vocals), Johan Husgafvel (bass) and David Wallin (drums) were assaulted Friday night (February 22) in Leipzig, Germany during a day off on the band's European tour as the support act for NIGHTWISH. As a result, the group was forced to cancel Saturday's concert in Leipzig, but the bandmembers quickly picked themselves up and were back on stage on Sunday.

"We did the best we could," Tägtgren said of the post-attack gig, according to Sweden's The Local.

"We were the wrong people at the wrong place at the wrong time," explained Peter, who required ten stitches for cuts to his face.

As it was their day off, the singer, Husgafvel and Wallin spent the evening at some local bars.

While they were walking down the street looking for a taxi, three men attacked them from behind.

"Sometimes things like this happen. We have no idea who they were, but it was really dodgy," Tägtgren told The Local.

The bandmembers, who were taken completely by surprise, were left severely beaten and bruised.

Afterwards a passerby recognized them and drove them to the hospital.

Husgafvel suffered a broken nose and Wallin, who was hit in the head with a wine bottle, ended up with concussion and stitches to the side of his head.

"The body gets a shock. Johan is full of kicks and bruises. David and I are dizzy as hell," Tägtgren told The Local.

Pain Members Attacked By Thugs In Germany

PAIN touring guitarist Marcus Jidell (ROYAL HUNT, HOUSE OF SHAKIRA), who is currently on the road with the band supporting NIGHTWISH in Europe, has checked in with this message:

"We had to cancel the gig tonight in Leipzig while some crazy assholes kicked Peter (Tägtgren), Johan (Husgafvel) and David (Wallin) down when they where on their way home from a local bar yesterday. They just came from behind so there was nothing they could do. I was in the bus watching a movie so I am totally okay, besides the fact that we had to cancel. I feel really shitty to cancel but there was no way we could play today. I hope we will be able to be on stage tomorrow but I am not sure. But the guys are in a good mood and are working on recovering. Today we will sleep in a hotel and I'll try to make our heroes feel a little bit better."
