Pain, the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Peter Tägtgren, has revealed the band’s first original song in 5 years: "Party In My Head." Blending 80's synth, electro, and metal, Pain delivers one hell of an anthem providing a powerful sonic vaccine against the distress and depression caused by the worldwide pandemic.
Peter Tägtgren comments, "I decided to write a song about all the bullshit from the last year of lock-up and people’s struggle, including my own, to adapt to the new way of life. Suddenly, all of us had to deal with our inner selves in our secluded new life, so this is the cheer-up song for people. Each of us has our own party in our head. Musically, it’s a hell of a party song. I can’t wait to play it live."
The video features a guest appearance by Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Deep Purple) and the return of the Alien from Pain’s biggest hit "Shut Your Mouth." More...
Pain has always been known not only for their exciting mix of catchy melodies, majestic harmonies and powerful industrial metal rhythms, but for also having a fine sense for combining current world affairs with all-time classics, uniting people across generations and borders.
Now, mastermind Peter Tägtgren proves this gifted instinct once more and have released a unique interpretation of the Rolling Stones masterpiece "Gimme Shelter."
Peter Tägtgren stated about the single:
"I had the idea of covering 'Gimme Shelter' for years… And now it feels like it’s the perfect time to do it – 'cause today this song appears as important as it was when it first came out 52 years ago. Back then it was the Cold War, today it is the war on Covid." More...

ProgPower USA promoter Glenn Harveston announced that Greek power/progressive act Sunburst was dropped from the XVIII roster, due to a VISA issues, in which a particular USCIS agent made an unusual and specific "all-encompassing" request for evidence that was impossible to satisfy in the time left. Harveston also announced that Brazil's Daydream XI will replace Sunburst.
Harveston posted the following announcement: "It is with extreme frustration and disappointment I must announce that Sunburst (Greece) will not be performing at ProgPower USA XVIII. Despite having provided the same type and kind of evidence that has obtained approvals for not only ProgPower USA bands over the last decade, but for well over one hundred other bands submitted by Marc/Play America, one agent at the USCIS (United States Customs & Immigration Services) has deemed our evidence insufficient. Given the all-encompassing breadth of that specific agent's demands (more than ever have been seen by either Marc or myself) in an RFE (Request for Evidence) in our careers, there is literally no hope of satisfying those demands. Sunburst, Marc, & I have all agreed it would be pointless to continue to fight this hopeless battle.
"Rest assured I have every intention of having Sunburst back as soon as possible. They are an amazing band and deserve to be on the ProgPower USA stage. The band is understandably disappointed, but also understand the circumstances cannot be helped.
"I want to calm the fears of those concerned about other bands performing this year. I have already obtained visa approvals for all bands I am specifically responsible for performing on Friday and Saturday. Sunburst was the last band we were waiting on for visa approval. All bands that have been submitted for Wednesday and Thursday so far have also been approved. More...

After repeated questions, Peter Tagtgren posted his thoughts on the future of Hypocrisy, which last released a studio album in 2013 ("End of Disclosure").
On his official Facebook Page, Tagtgren stated: "Hi everyone! (Again). I get alot Of questions reg Hypocrisy. 'This is my thoughts' (I can't speak/write for the other members). I have a hard time being motivated of writing new songs for that band.
"I feel that after 26 years of building up the band to its status today in the world, then I think...where do we go from here??
"I'm really happy to see Horgh is busy with new Immortal. And that will buy some time to figure out what to do in the best of interest of Hypocrisy and what is respectful to our loving fans all over the globe.
"Do we have to release a new album? Can we just do some tours or festivals til/if the motivation is back?
"I don't know.. I just don't wanna be apart of a half lame & stressed album." More...
