Dying Fetus is currently on the road headlining the "Metal Alliance Tour" with support from The Acacia Strain, Jungle Rot, Black Crown Initiate and rotating openers Reaping Asmedia and Nylithia.
During the May 3rd Illinois stop of the tour, the band received what they considered a very interesting request. One of the band's biggest fans recently passed away and as a final wish, he had asked that his ashes be scattered on stage during their show. When the band ripped into Nick's favorite song "Homicidal Retribution," the band honored his wish and did just that.
"We just scattered nicks ashes in the pit for his favorite song, 'Homicidal Retribution,' may he RIP. Rest in the pit \m/", commented the band on Twitter.
Prior to this tour that band was busy in the studio recording their latest release for Relapse Records. Once the "Metal Alliance Tour" concludes the band will finish the long anticipated eighth studio release. Album name and release date is TBA. After the album is complete they will embark on an extensive Europe run that will include headline and festival dates, all of which are listed below. More...

One thing that can be found in metal music that doesn’t appear in other genres is gloriously offensive band names. Metal is very good at turning away non listeners with monikers alone, with Septicflesh and Rotting Christ being two names that are always guaranteed to cause some disturbed looks from the uninitiated, with Anal Cunt and Pissing Razors usually gauging a good reaction too. So let’s take a look at another metal’s most repulsive names, Dying Fetus.
The band began life in Upper Marlboro, Maryland in 1991, the brainchild of guitarist John Gallagher, (not to be confused with the Raven frontman,) and bass player Jason Netherton. The two met guitarist and vocalist Nick Speleos a year later and from there, the group really got going, with Gallagher handling the drum duties until a permanent member could be found. The trio recorded a demo, "Bathing in Entrails" in 1993, before they hired drummer Rob Belton, as well as replacing Speleos with Brian Latta, which prompted Gallagher to also take up vocals, which were first heard on the 1994 demo, "Infatuated With Malevolence." The two demos were released together under the title of the latter as a compilation album in 1995 through Wild Rags Records. More...

Summer Slaughter came in to the same venue, Scoot Inn, as last year's stop off at Texas' capital city. The mid-July temperatures reached a scorching 99 degrees, which everyone from fans to bands did their best to stay hydrated (kudos to Scoot Inn for providing water). Keep in mind, this was still a good 5 degrees cooler than last year.
In regards to the lineup, Summer Slaughter 2014 featured artists expected from a death metal-based tour. This year the brutality of Morbid Angel, Dying Fetus, Origin and Decrepit Birth replaced the shredding progression of Animals As Leaders and Periphery.
While death metal was at the forefront of this year's festivities, complex timing and long-winded solos were dispersed throughout the bill. Memories In Broken Glass, this year's battle of the bands winner, concentrated less on guitar solos as they did low tuned, (7 or 8-string guitar) jumping rhythms and samples. I'm sure they were happy to have played a showed promoted by Come And Take It Productions as they played in front of an impressive, jumping early crowd. More...

As was announced yesterday, Dying Fetus has been confirmed to play the 2014 edition of the Download Festival in the UK. The death metal powerhouse will play alongside headliners Aerosmith, Avenged Sevenfold, and Linkin Park at the festival that takes place in June at Donington Park, Derbyshire.
Public pressure for the band to be added to the line up had been mounting since Monday, when in response to Metal Hammer UK's announcement of Avenged Sevenfold as headliners, one disgruntled fan questioned, "Why not Dying Fetus?" A social media whirlwind followed, with #whynotdyingfetustrending on various social platforms.
John Gallagher (Guitar, Vocals) comments: "The people have spoken and now it's time to piss in the mainstream! This started as a joke but has turned into something truly incredible! Never under estimate the power of the internet. Big thanks to all our undying fans for making this happen and for the promoters of Download for having the courage to invite us on the fest! Cheers!"
Download festival promoter Andy Copping comments: "When #whynotdyingfetus started circulating on Monday, it gained too much momentum to ignore, so calling the band and asking them to play at next year’s Download was a no brainer. I’m thrilled to say that they seem as excited about it as we are. ‘Why not Dying Fetus?’ you asked. We say ‘Why the hell not?"
Dying Fetus will also join Hypocrisy and Heaven Shall Burn on a trek across Europe on these dates in November and December: More...
After it was announced that Avenged Sevenfold and Linkin Park would be headlining the Download 2014 festival, upset metalheads took to the Internet to demand a more extreme band on the bill, and the rallying cry "Why Not Dying Fetus?" was born.
Somehow all that online buzz got the attention of the Download organizers, and now Dying Fetus has issued the following announcement about playing the festival:
"Ask and ye shall receive! Dying Fetus will be bringing their brutal death metal antics to the 2014 Download Festival in June.
"Thanks to all the fans who made #WhyNotDyingFetus blow up on the internets. Celebrate with some tunes here."
