The brand new TGoS track “Ice Worm” can be previewed now at their MySpace page. Conqueror will see a May 27, 2008 North American release date via Profound Lore Records.
The Gates Of Slumber’s Conqueror is a doomy, epic metal pillage. Produced and recorded in full analog at Chicago’s Volume Studios and produced by Sanford Parker (Nachtmystium, Lair of the Minotaur, Pelican), Conqueror is a mighty plunge that proves true heavy metal doubles as a powerful art form. Crushing riffs brim with melody and solos “wail” as the strong vocals of front man Karl Simon and a storming rhythm section hammer home songs such as “Trapped in the Web”, “Eyes of the Liar”, “The Machine” and the ominous, 4-part heavy metal odyssey, “Dark Valley Suite (i. Black River I, ii. Lines Written with the Knowledge I Must Die, iii. Call of the Black Gods, iv. Black River II). More...

Profound Lore Records issues the following press release:

Conqueror was recorded with Sanford Parker (BIBLE OF THE DEVIL, LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR, NACHMYSTIUM) and features the following tracks: 'Trapped In The Web', 'Conqueror', 'Ice Worm', 'Eyes Of The Liar', 'Children Of Satan', 'To Kill And Be King', 'The Machine', 'Dark Valley Suite', 'Black River I', 'Lines Written With The Knowledge That I Must Die', 'Call Of The Black Gods' and 'Black River II'.
Writing is nearly complete for what will easily be one of the doom-laden heavy metal highlights in 2008, namely the new THE GATES OF SLUMBER album, in which the trio have christened "Conqueror".
According to a press release, "Conqueror" "will continue the promise laid down with their doom trodden 'Awakening' debut and the surging powerful acclaimed epic 'Suffer No Guilt' (along with the several splits and EPs they've been involved with, the most recent ones being the Relapse Records released split 7" with THE DREAM IS DEAD, and the split CD with Finnish act SPIRITUS MORTIS). In what will be a continuation from 'Suffer No Guilt' with the songs being more to the point but still encompassing that epic fervor, surging melody, and that crushing doom-like vibe inherent within their style, 'Conqueror' will easily prove that THE GATES OF SLUMBER are one of North America's most exceptional acts within this sphere of heavy metal." According to the press release, "The Gates Of Slumber should, due to the merits of their colossal debut album "The Awakening" (Final Chapter Records) and their fantastic live appearance at DSR III, be a household name amongst you doomsters out there. For the ignorant: The Gates Of Slumber started in 1998 as a backlash against the stoner rock trend prevalent at the time and with their mixture of Saint Vitus, Pentagram, and prime era Celtic Frost has either crushed or converted unbelievers ever since. The second full-length album is due for an early June 2006. With the album's title "Suffer No Guilt" they promise to spew forth a defining statement of true doom metal! Songs that will be included on this release will be "Suffer No Guilt", "Dweller In The Deep", "God Wills It", " Riders Of Doom" plus several other true statements of doom."
