Swedish act Crystal Eyes, which re-recruited former guitarist Niclas Karlsson during the summer, has checked in with the following announcement about streaming the band's entire discography online:
"We're happy to announce that Crystal Eyes' whole back catalogue is now available for streaming on Spotify.
"This means that you can demand to hear Crystal Eyes at any party or pub with access to the internet and hopefully this will bring some new metal heads into the world of Crystal Eyes. Spread the word!
"All records are also available for downloading world-wide at iTunes and CDs can still be ordered at our webshop here."
Swedish act Crystal Eyes has checked in with the following announcement about re-recruiting former guitarist Niclas Karlsson:
"Paul is out of the band and we're ready for another chapter. We're now extremely happy to welcome back Niclas Karlsson and are looking forward to once again share the path of heavy metal with this great guitarist.
"If you know your Crystal Eyes's history you know that Niclas started the band with Mikael in 1992, quit the band after short break in 1995, got back between 2006-2007 and has played with Mikael in the Judas Priest tribute band Defenders of the Faith since the dawn of time."
Crystal Eyes is featured in Metal Munchers "The Festival Edition," a cook book about some of Sweden's best rock bands today including favourite dishes, promotion pictures, band presentations and much more. It's only available in Swedish but an English edition is about to follow.
Sweden's Crystal Eyes has issued the following statement about parting ways with their vocalist:
"Recently Nico let us know that he didn’t have the time to play live with CRYSTAL EYES anymore so we’ve decided to carry on as a four piece band. This is how we’ve been rehearsing all the time and the only change is that Mikael is once again doing the lead vocals.
Mikael – “The reasons I once handed over the lead vocals are just not there anymore, and since I wrote all vocal melodies for my voice it wasn’t a big step to be the lead singer once again. I actually never stopped singing. I’ve been the singer of the JUDAS PRIEST tribute band DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH the whole time, recorded all the vocals for CRYSTAL EYES’ demos, backing vocals on the albums, and of course the lead vocals on the closing song on our three last albums.”
"We’ve put up two of those songs in the second player a bit down here GUARDIAN and THE HALLS OF VALHALLA. Plus an edited medley of the demo recordings of CHAINED featuring Mikael on lead vocals. (The vocals on the demo recordings are first takes with no real lyrics. Just random “Heavy Metal words”.) You may also find some other surprises in this new player =)"
Swedish/Danish metallers CRYSTAL EYES have issued the following update:
"So what have we been up to lately? Well last year we mutually decided to part ways with our label Heavy Fidelity. During the year the songs for the upcoming album were finished, and a demo was recorded and past around to some labels we thought would be appropriate. Some offers were presented to us, and eventually we decided to sign with the German label Metal Heaven. There's, of course, a lot of reasons for signing with a certain label, but the overall feeling while dealing with Metal Heaven make us confident that we have an exiting time ahead of us."
"We will begin recording in May, and the mixing will once again be handled by Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman. The song titles for the yet-unnamed album are 'Ride The Rainbow', 'Shadow Rider', 'Dying In The Rain', 'Guardian', 'The Fire Of Hades', 'Fighting', 'Waves Of War', 'The Devil Inside' and 'Lonely Ball Of Fate'. Expect nothing but 100% pure heavy metal. We've also been busy getting Paul [new guitarist Pål Petterson] into the new songs, and of course some old. He's now ready to rock so don't miss his live debut on the 19th of April in Ulricehamn, Sweden." More...
Swedish/Danish metallers CRYSTAL EYES have announced the addition of guitarist Pål Petterson to the group's ranks. "Pål is 41 years old and lives just five minutes from our studio/rehearsal room in Borås," the band writes. "He's a great guitarist with the right attitude, personality and humor and fits perfect into the band's chemistry. It's somehow strange that we really should have known him long ago since he have played with friends to the band and even previous members of CRYSTAL EYES. There's no use describing his guitar playing more then classic Eighties heavy metal style perfectly made for CRYSTAL EYES."
CRYSTAL EYES guitarist Mikael Dahl has written a number of new songs for inclusion on the group's next album, which is tentatively scheduled to be recorded before the end of the year. "The band will spend the summer rehearsing and completing the new material," reads a posting on the group's web site.
CRYSTAL EYES's fifth album, "Dead City Dreaming", was released last November. The CD was recorded at Crystal Sounds studio with producer Fredrik Nordström.
Sweden's CRYSTAL EYES have issued the following update:
"Niclas (Karlsson - pictured left) has after only a year in the band decided to leave to focus on other things in life. He told us he had lost his inspiration to play guitar and rehearse, and he felt it wasn’t right to stay. Though sadly, we respect he’s decision and whish him all the best."
"So here we are searching for a new guitarist. If you love Crystal Eyes’ music, have the geographical possibility to rehearse, perform and record with the band, and are willing to give 100%, then you could be the one. But remember that Crystal Eyes is a twin guitar band so we’re not looking for any YNGWIE MALMSTEEN copycats."
"If you’re interested please send mp3 samples and/or links (both rhythm and solo guitar), a few notes about yourself and a picture to firstname.lastname@example.org. Use that address for any questions you might have as well."
Sweden's CRYSTAL EYES has uploaded two new tracks — "Dead City Dreaming" and "Battlefield" — to its MySpace page. Both songs come off the group's fifth album, "Dead City Dreaming", which is due on November 3 in Europe and North America.

Swedish power metallers Crystal Eyes have posted this message on their official website:
It took about four weeks longer than planned, but finally the album is finished. It was mastered last Wednesday by Dragan Tanaskovic at Behus Mastering, who also have mastered the latest stuff from Evergrey, and damn he's good. If you got the time and tools to produce a really satisfying album it's definitely worth four more weeks of hard work.
Earlier we've always put whole songs on the website, but during December the traffic on the website increased so much we blew our download barrier. So we're now forced to use only three minute samples. Anyway, you can now listen to a sample of the title song of the new album "Confessions Of The Maker" (here). A heavy mid-tempo song seasoned with lots of '80s Black Sabbath. Closer to the release we'll probably put up a little faster one.
Daniel Heiman (vocals) and Fredrik Olsson (guitars) have left Lost Horizon, apparently because of personal differences with Wojtek Lisicki (guitars), who just recently re-joined the band. Daniel has already joined the band Crystal Eyes as their new singer.
Swedish power metal band Crystal Eyes have posted this press release on their official website:
After twelve years as the lead singer of Crystal Eyes Mikael Dahl will now hand over the job on the new album "Confessions Of The Maker" to former Lost Horizon vocalist Daniel Heiman. Daniel and Mikael have known each other since the early 90s when they played together in a cover band. Daniel sang the lead vocals on the song "The Wizard's Apprentice" on Crystal Eyes latest album "Vengeance Descending," and he agreed already several months ago to sing on one or two songs on the new album. A few weeks ago Mikael approached Daniel about singing on the entire album, which he thought was a great idea and accepted. Daniel IS one of the best singers in the world, and Mikael have at several occasions said that if he would let someone else handle the lead vocals in Crystal Eyes it would be Daniel. Everyone is really excited, and we truly believe that this will bring Crystal Eyes to a whole new level.
Crystal Eyes drummer Stefan Svantesson began laying down the tracks for the new album last Friday, October 15 at Andy La Roqcue's (King Diamond) studio, Los Angered Recordings, in Gothenburg, Sweden. The rest of the band will start working full time in their own studio, Crystal Sounds, on Novemeber 1 and the plan is to have a first mix ready by the end of November.
Mattias Norén (Kotipelto, Jag Panzer, Evergrey, Into Eternity) has just delivered the artwork for "Confessions Of The Maker". A posting on the band's website reads "Most of you are probably quite familiar with Mattias' earlier work, so it shouldn't be a surprise that it differs a lot from Crystal Eyes' previous albums. It has a quite dark overall feeling to match the mood of some of the lyrics on the album, especially of course the title song's." Check out the album cover here.
