Latest Manntis News
Below is our complete Manntis news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Note: We began associating news directly with bands in late 2003. Therefore, earlier band news may not be listed on this page.
"Rock Against Diabetes 2008" was held at Club Rox in Las Vegas, Nevada. The club was kind enough to provide R.A.D. with a venue for the two-day event. Many artists gave of themselves to support the cause, which will not be forgotten by all of us that struggle with diabetes on a daily basis.
I got the chance to talk with the event founder and organizer, Darrin Buchanan, and he explained how all of this came about. Two years ago, Darrin's foot died on him virtually over night. He underwent a number of tests and the result was diabetes and that part of his foot would need to be removed. Here is a 36 year old man with a wife and young daughter and he was facing the fight of his life. From that experience Rock Against Diabetes began. The first event was held is Canada and Darrin, in his wheelchair, was keeping the show flowing and the event was a success. A chain of events led to a second surgery to remove more of Darrin's leg from the knee down, and now Darrin would be walking again after 2 years with the help of a prosthetic leg. It was fantastic to see Darrin running around for two days along with his lovely wife Lindsey. They are my heroes! I am sure glad we are on the same team in this daily fight that we diabetics face each day. They give me strength and hope! More...
2008 has become an extremely exciting year in the history of Century Media Records, one of the world's most respected independent homes for heavy music, as the label is celebrating its 20th anniversary!
The company's Anniversary year started off with an extremely successful, first-ever yard sale/party at the Century Media office in Dortmund (Germany) in June, where several hundred guests partied out on exclusive live shows by Angel Dust and Turisas. A video with impressions from the event can be seen at this location. A photo gallery for this event can be viewed here.
To further celebrate this anniversary Century Media Records will release the very special 2CD compilation "Covering 20 Years Of Extremes" on September 15th in Europe and on October 14th in North America. The various artists covers-release includes 32 mostly exclusive recordings and will be available in stores for the price of one CD. Sticking to the "keep it in the family" slogan, CM approached their artists about covering songs from other acts within the label's repertoire and the response from the musicians was overwhelming.
Some choices were obvious and homages to the bands that influenced them, others were inspired picks. This combination ended up leading to a heavily entertaining and truly special final result across all sub-genres of heavy music.

What better way to spend Friday the 13th (January) than at an ANTHRAX show? With all the old 80’s bands coming back around, it gives us/you the chance to see them live if you have never seen them back in the day. Believe me these bands still know how to rock and Anthrax (currently on tour) is no exception.
First came, Manntis. The crowd was thin. With guitarist Adair (from MTV Fame – Battle for Ozzfest) Jake, Dan and Josh, they held there own. You will be seeing a lot more of theses guys. More...
Boston-based thrashers CANNAE will embark on a handful of dates alongside God Forbid, Sworn Enemy, and Manntis to continue supporting Gold Becomes Sacrifice, the band's second album on Prosthetic Records. The record has received praise from the press, being called "a crafty combination of mind-numbing precision and jarring sensory overload" by Revolver magazine, while Blabbermouth.net wrote that the album "snorts, snarls, and kicks 90-pound weaklings in the face. As far as sheer heaviness is concerned, this quintet leaves bomb craters in its wake." Produced and mixed by Jason Suecof (God Forbid, Trivium) and mastered by Jim Morris (Iced Earth, Death), the record features guest solos by both Suecof and James Murphy (Death, Obituary, Testament), alongside the addition of several new members to the band.
Currently on the road with The Nicea Room in support of Gold Becomes Sacrifice, Cannae will meet up with God Forbid at the end of January, having already opened for the band on a string of dates throughout the Northeast in November. More...
GOD FORBID will kick off the New Year in true heavy metal fashion on tour as direct support to Anthrax with Sworn Enemy and Manntis in the support slots. The trek, which runs from January 6th through January 21st, will lead them across the U.S. and immediately into a national headlining run. The group wrapped up a highly-successful stretch on the Decibel magazine sponsored Fury of the Fall tour with Meshuggah, The Haunted and Mnemic last month and are currently on tour with The Haunted and God Dethroned in Europe through the end of the year. Their latest video, "The End of The World," shot by director Dave Brodsky (All That Remains, Fight Paris, The Red Chord), is currently in rotation on Metal Asylum and Headbangers Ball and has also been posted online at this location.
GOD FORBID recently completed a stunning new video for the track “To The Fallen Hero” with acclaimed director Shane Drake (Fall Out Boy, Hawthorne Heights) and the concept behind the clip is definitely going to catch people’s attention. Look for it to make its Fuse and MTV2 debut early next year. You can check out some photos from the shoot on Century Meida's MySpace page
The group's critically acclaimed new album, IV: Constitution of Treason, entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #119 in its first week of release, and it's the first time the group has ever appeared in the Top 200 charts.
We Put Out Records will also be reissuing the group’s Out of Misery EP on December 6th, which will feature five bonus live tracks.

Jake Sirokman (vocals) checks in with the following update: "First off, I would like to welcome the new guys to the band, Josh Feathers on drums and Daniel Racadio on the guitar; these two are amazing, and we feel proud to have them. Second, we are very excited about this upcoming tour (International Extreme Music Festival). Even though we are not a death metal band, I feel we can still bring some chaos to the stage and have a good time. Also, just to play The Metro in Chicago is a huge step in our career, and we are thankful for the opportunity and look forward to tearin' up the stage. Speaking of tours, we had a great time with the EYES OF FIRE boys on our last trip, and we hope to hit the road with them again in the future. We are also stoked about the premiere of our video, 'Axe of Redemption', which will appear on Fuse's 'Metal Asylum' and MTV2's 'Headbangers Ball'. It has taken some time, but it is worth the wait. This is it from me, and we hope to catch you on the road soon."
