BANNED in Australia, New Zealand & Korea. BANNED from performing any material off their first three albums in Germany, where the sale of "Butchered At Birth" is outlawed completely!

It has been 16 years since a small band out of Buffalo, New York released their gorified Metal Blade Records debut "Eaten Back to Life," and in their decade+ existence, Cannibal Corpse have accomplished much more than getting their music and concerts banned. Cannibal Corpse have been repeatedly targeted by the morality police (Gore, PMRC, Lieberman, Dole), appeared in a blockbuster Hollywood feature film (Ace Venture: Pet Detective), debuted as the only Death Metal band to rank on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart, graced the covers of virtually every Metal magazine in the world, toured the globe routinely and sold millions of records. All of this with zero commercial radio airplay and no exposure from MTV, save the periodic obligatory controversial news segment. On February 26th, 2002, "Gore Obsessed," the band's eighth full-length studio album, will redefine the Death Metal genre and reign as Cannibal Corpse's most accomplished and scrutinized recording to date. While not infringing on their trademark sound, Cannibal Corpse and multi-platinum first time Corpse producer Neil Kernon (Queensryche, Nevermore, Skrew, Macabre and many more) focused on technically powerful guitars and unmatched bass & drum syncopation that will leave the current crop of corporate makeup metallers slack jawed. "Pit Of Zombies" rips with alternating tempos and time changes that never leaves the listener behind, but drags them screaming into the pit. "Mutilation Of The Cadaver" is another prime chunk of meat that sees vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher easily spewing forth his finest vocal fury on record (including an unnerving fourteen second scream).

Eight albums in and Cannibal Corpse have never defied their core fan base, continually strengthening their place as the most enduring, relevant and uncompromising Death Metal band ever. With "Gore Obsessed" introducing future classics "Sanded Faceless", "Hung And Bled", "When Death Replaces Life" and "Dormant Bodies Bursting", Cannibal Corpse have buried any and all possibility of being dethroned as the reigning purveyors of aural gore and sonic splatter. Sure to once again peek the interest of those who feel it their responsibility to protect the moral fiber of America's youth culture, Cannibal Corpse again turned to long time friend and artist Vincent Lock to create a visual representation of "Gore Obsessed" that could match the band's musical depiction. Having set a high standard with album covers for "Butchered at Birth" and "Tomb of the Mutilated," Locke, as expected, delivered the gore, and more. The CD cover for "Gore Obsessed" will be masked for retail outlets as no "censored" cover will be available domestically.

The organizers of Extremefest have now issued the following announcement about confirming Forgotten Tomb and Ultrawurscht:

"Forgotten Tomb been around since 1999 and the Italians have caused quite a stir in the black and dark metal underground! 'Songs To Leave' (2002) or 'Love`s Burial Ground' (2004) are rightfully considered milestones of melancholic dark metal that the fourpiece infuses with doom and black metal elements. In 2011, Forgotten Tomb released their most recent effort 'Under Saturn Retrograde' and fans can look forward to one of the rare appearances of the Italians at the Austrian and German editions of Extremefest!

"It´s all about the sausage with Bavarian / Austrian act Ultrawurscht! Their highly explosive mixture of death metal, grind and hardcore – or simply 'Wurschtcore' – will one day conquer the world, and if you had the chance to check out albums such as 'Cheese Ass Built My Hot Dog' you`ll agree! Mixing metal and sausages should be declared a form of art anyway, so slap some wieners on the grill before checking out Ultrawurscht`s exclusive set at the Austrian edition of the Extremefest 2012!"

Sunday Old School: Cannibal Corpse

It’s common in heavy metal music for fans to exaggerate how important or how good a band they love is, but Cannibal Corpse genuinely deserves to be recognized as a ground breaking act in the field of death metal, being the biggest selling death metal band in the United States, as well as having a sound that has been copied countless times. The band was formed in Buffalo, New York from the remnants of popular local bands Tirant Sin, Leviathan and Beyond Death and through friends the members made, made their live debut in April 1989 opening for Dark Angel.

Not long after this impressive debut, Cannibal Corpse was snapped up by Metal Blade Records after the manager of the record store where vocalist Chris Barnes was working sent in the band's self-titled demo tape, becoming the label's first death metal band in the process. The first album, "Eaten Back To Life" was recorded at the Morrisound Recording studio, a place now famous for producing albums by the likes of Sepultura, Morbid Angel and Napalm Death amongst other big names in extreme metal, before being released in August 1990. The band didn’t do a conventional tour in support of the record, performing only a handful of shows when possible, including one which featured no more than thirteen people in attendance.

Cannibal Corpse returned to Florida shortly afterwards to record a sophomore album, "Butchered At Birth." This would mark the beginning of causing outrage and controversy on an international scale, as the record was banned in Germany and was only available to people over the age of eighteen in Ontario, Canada due to its graphic cover artwork. Despite this, Cannibal Corpse soon embarked on a first headlining tour, which took place in Europe, where the group was greeted very warmly by extreme metal fans. Upon returning, the guys set out on their first North American headlining tour, this time being joined by Atheist and Gorguts.

Having completed the tour, Cannibal Corpse recorded another album entitled, "Tomb Of The Mutilated," which once again featured a shocking album cover and also contained at least two of the group's best known songs in the shapes of, "Hammer Smashed Face" and "I Cum Blood." Shortly after the release of the album, the band parted ways with guitarist Bob Rusay, replacing him with Rob Barrett, known for his work with Malevolent Creation. After an appearance in the hit comedy, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, the band once again got to work on a new album, which surfaced in 1994 under the name, "The Bleeding." The record was praised for its more disciplined approach to song writing and featuring plenty of catchy riffs, not to mention more charming song titles such as, "Fucked With A Knife" and "She Was Asking For It." Exhumed Added To Summer Slaughter

California goregrind maniacs Exhumed are infinitely pleased to be added to this year’s Summer Slaughter Festival lineup. While the festival’s full schedule and routing are still to be announced, the band is confirmed to share the stage with headliners Cannibal Corpse as well as Between The Buried And Me, Goatwhore, and The Faceless.

Said vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey of the latest edition to their relentless 2012 tour cycle: “The hits just keep on coming for us this year. We are fully chuffed to be a part of the illustrious Summer Slaughter package. It's going to be awesome to get done playing early so we can concentrate on our true passion -- drinking! This hulking monstrosity of a traveling freakshow should be a mandatory thing for all the boils and ghouls out there, so we'll see you on the seemingly never-ending campaign for musical -- and just general -- destruction that we've been waging all over the planet since last April. Cheers!”

Exhumed today kick off the 16-date Grind Over Europe Tour with Rotten Sound and Magrudergrind. The group will later join Anaal Nathrakh for a short run of U.K. dates before returning to the states for a handful of headlining shows and a near month-long trek with death metal icons Cannibal Corpse. Joined by labelmates Abysmal Dawn and Arkaik, the live rituals will commence on April 5th in Jacksonville, Florida and include an appearance at the The Cincinnati Metal Fest on April 14th as well as a special show on April 28 where the brutal caravan will merge with the Decibel Magazine tour featuring Behemoth, Watain, The Devil’s Blood and In Solitude. This was fine for me, after last night's late one - I went for some breakfast and lots of much-needed coffee. The weather was a little threatening to start with, with some angry looking clouds. Cannibal Corpse Streaming New Song

Today, Revolvermag.com is hosting the exclusive premiere of “Scourge of Iron,” the third track off Cannibal Corpse’s forthcoming slab of brutality, "Torture," slated for North American release through Metal Blade Records on March 13, 2012.

Comments bassist Alex Webster of the new tune: “‘Scourge of Iron’ helps to show the song writing diversity on Torture. [First album single] ‘Demented Aggression’ is blazing fast and frantic, while ‘Scourge…’ is a down tempo, pounding song. They're both death metal, but at opposite ends of the speed spectrum. Expect to hear this kind of variety throughout Torture. We’ve utilized many different tempos, rhythms, and feels in these songs with the goal of making an album that is varied and dynamic but also very brutal. On March 13th you'll get to decide whether or not we succeeded.”
