BANNED in Australia, New Zealand & Korea. BANNED from performing any material off their first three albums in Germany, where the sale of "Butchered At Birth" is outlawed completely!

It has been 16 years since a small band out of Buffalo, New York released their gorified Metal Blade Records debut "Eaten Back to Life," and in their decade+ existence, Cannibal Corpse have accomplished much more than getting their music and concerts banned. Cannibal Corpse have been repeatedly targeted by the morality police (Gore, PMRC, Lieberman, Dole), appeared in a blockbuster Hollywood feature film (Ace Venture: Pet Detective), debuted as the only Death Metal band to rank on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart, graced the covers of virtually every Metal magazine in the world, toured the globe routinely and sold millions of records. All of this with zero commercial radio airplay and no exposure from MTV, save the periodic obligatory controversial news segment. On February 26th, 2002, "Gore Obsessed," the band's eighth full-length studio album, will redefine the Death Metal genre and reign as Cannibal Corpse's most accomplished and scrutinized recording to date. While not infringing on their trademark sound, Cannibal Corpse and multi-platinum first time Corpse producer Neil Kernon (Queensryche, Nevermore, Skrew, Macabre and many more) focused on technically powerful guitars and unmatched bass & drum syncopation that will leave the current crop of corporate makeup metallers slack jawed. "Pit Of Zombies" rips with alternating tempos and time changes that never leaves the listener behind, but drags them screaming into the pit. "Mutilation Of The Cadaver" is another prime chunk of meat that sees vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher easily spewing forth his finest vocal fury on record (including an unnerving fourteen second scream).

Eight albums in and Cannibal Corpse have never defied their core fan base, continually strengthening their place as the most enduring, relevant and uncompromising Death Metal band ever. With "Gore Obsessed" introducing future classics "Sanded Faceless", "Hung And Bled", "When Death Replaces Life" and "Dormant Bodies Bursting", Cannibal Corpse have buried any and all possibility of being dethroned as the reigning purveyors of aural gore and sonic splatter. Sure to once again peek the interest of those who feel it their responsibility to protect the moral fiber of America's youth culture, Cannibal Corpse again turned to long time friend and artist Vincent Lock to create a visual representation of "Gore Obsessed" that could match the band's musical depiction. Having set a high standard with album covers for "Butchered at Birth" and "Tomb of the Mutilated," Locke, as expected, delivered the gore, and more. The CD cover for "Gore Obsessed" will be masked for retail outlets as no "censored" cover will be available domestically.

Fun Fun Fun Fest 2011, Part 2

November 5th, 2011—Day two of Fun Fun Fun Fest exemplified Texas’ extreme weather conditions. Rare rains are great for picnics, but eventually raise havoc on the land. The hottest summer in the recorded history of the United States revealed an Auditorium Shores that resembled a Western ghost town rather than the green knolls of a public park.

Dust masks and bandanas veiled the features of the day’s attendees, giving the festival an appearance part Old West and part zombie-virus film. Those in attendance deserve credit for braving such abhorrent conditions. Weather conditions are beyond the control of Fun Fun Fun’s staff, although I can’t help but think something could have been done to curb the dust problem. No matter who was to blame for Friday’s short Misfit’s set, no controversies marred Saturday’s festivities.

A death metal bludgeoning assaulted my ears upon entering the venue. I asked myself, “Why would a comedy stage play host to a death/grind band?” I peeked around the corner to see this group was Captured By Robots. The one-man-several-robots group was part Mystery Science Theater 3K and part Gwar. Eyeballs and intestines protruded from front man JBOT, who carried on silly conversations with jean-jacket clad, double-necked guitar playing robot GTRBOT666. An ensemble of a disembodied, dreadlocked drummer, DRMBOT 0110 with a macabre brass section and “Monkey Shines” percussion kicked out a hilarious mix of punk, metal, grind, Dubstep and pop covers. Two of the more memorable songs include Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” and Buster Poindexter’s “Hot Hot Hot.” More...

This will be the first time ever that the music of Fun Fun Fun Fest, one of the most progressive independent music festivals in the country, will be available to those outside of Austin, and live.

Fans will be able to toggle the streams to cater to their favorite styles of music, thanks to smart, the quirky, irreverent car.

When asked about the new partnership, Pitchfork had this to say: "Fun Fun Fun Fest has absolutely become one of the great festivals in the country, one that shares the same spirit of adventurous booking and music- and fan-community focus that we bring to our own Pitchfork Music Festival and our other events," said Pitchfork President Chris Kaskie. "Pitchfork has produced a number of live streams in recent years, and we're thrilled to be producing the Fun Fun Fun Fest live stream this year, for the first time bringing the festival to music fans outside of Austin."

Pitchfork Fun Fun Fun Fest Live Stream Schedule:

Friday, Nov 4th at 12:20pm Central

Saturday, Nov 5th at 12:10pm Central

Sunday, Nov 6th at 12:15pm Central

"We are thrilled to be working with Pitchfork and smart on bringing what we do every year to more underground and progressive music fans around the world. Pitchfork and Transmission have always focused on many of the same acts, ideas, and trends they are a like-minded group of people and it's exciting to see us working together in such an innovative way. Plus, we get to bring a little more Slayer and Turquoise Jeep to the PF pages, which is nice," said Transmission Principal James Moody.

Pit Stories: Stripped, Stomped and Mangled

Every week in Pit Stories we travel the world looking for interesting stories from fans and bands from different shows. Today we take you to a Cannibal Corpse show from the early nineties, proving that truth can be stranger than fiction - or at least a song can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The Huntridge was a refurbished movie theatre in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada that used to play host to all the hardcore and metal shows coming to town. Back in 1994, our station - KUNV - was promoting the Cannibal Corpse show there, and the turnout was huge for a Monday night. Usually you wouldn't see that many metal fans there, even on the weekend. Cannibal Corpse were touring prior to the release of their album "The Bleeding," which would prove to be a landmark album. This show at the Huntridge was one of the last in which Chris Barnes was at the helm of the band, and you could say he went out in style. MTV Europe was there with a blue-haired woman named Vanessa, filming onstage with her camcorder.

The teeming energy of the pit was intense, but this one idiot kept getting on stage over and over and diving into the crowd. He obviously wanted to appear on the camera footage but was truly pissing off all the metalheads he was landing on each time. The songs that Chris and the band were growling out mostly came off "The Bleeding," and prophetically all the events that would come to pass in the next hour were like the song titles personified. It was unreal. Shortly after "Stripped, Raped and Strangled" played, the whole pit got disgusted with the stagediving kid and tore his clothes off, kicking and shoving him right to the exit door. A burly security guy grabbed him by the throat and bounced him out the door (without his clothes on) right into that cold Vegas February night.

Just when the pit got it's momentum back, the big theatre doors way back by the nosebleed seats thrusted open with activity. Two security guards were kicking the crap out of a guy who broke into the merchandise display booth in an attempt to steal some Cannibal Corpse t-shirts. They had his face on the ground, shards of broken glass from the case all over the floor. This was right about the same time the band played "Force Fed Broken Glass." One thing about Cannibal Corpse that night - they weren't just voyeuristic horror. Everyone "lived" what they were playing. It is good to note that "An Experiment In Homicide" was not on the set list.

Cannibal Corpse have begun work on a new album, set to be released in 2012. Join us every Tuesday when we bring you more Pit Stories from bands and fans from around the globe.

Cannibal Corpse Recording New Album

Cannibal Corpse bassist and founding member Alex Webster has posted the following update online announcing that the band has begun recording its next full length album at Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas, working once again with producer Erik Rutan.

"After having spent the past 7 months writing and rehearsing new material, we’re very excited to finally begin recording. We’ve had great success working with Erik Rutan on our past two albums so we’ve decided to work with him again, but to keep things fresh we decided on a change of location – we’re returning to Sonic Ranch studios in Texas, where we’ve recorded several albums in the past. We are psyched to see how this combination works out- we feel it’s pairing that could result in our best album yet."

The new album will the be follow up to 2009's "Evisceration Plague" which is available through Metal Blade Records.
