Band Photo: Cannibal Corpse (?)
From: Buffalo, NY, United States
Last Known Status: Active
BANNED in Australia, New Zealand & Korea. BANNED from performing any material off their first three albums in Germany, where the sale of "Butchered At Birth" is outlawed completely!
It has been 16 years since a small band out of Buffalo, New York released their gorified Metal Blade Records debut "Eaten Back to Life," and in their decade+ existence, Cannibal Corpse have accomplished much more than getting their music and concerts banned. Cannibal Corpse have been repeatedly targeted by the morality police (Gore, PMRC, Lieberman, Dole), appeared in a blockbuster Hollywood feature film (Ace Venture: Pet Detective), debuted as the only Death Metal band to rank on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart, graced the covers of virtually every Metal magazine in the world, toured the globe routinely and sold millions of records. All of this with zero commercial radio airplay and no exposure from MTV, save the periodic obligatory controversial news segment. On February 26th, 2002, "Gore Obsessed," the band's eighth full-length studio album, will redefine the Death Metal genre and reign as Cannibal Corpse's most accomplished and scrutinized recording to date. While not infringing on their trademark sound, Cannibal Corpse and multi-platinum first time Corpse producer Neil Kernon (Queensryche, Nevermore, Skrew, Macabre and many more) focused on technically powerful guitars and unmatched bass & drum syncopation that will leave the current crop of corporate makeup metallers slack jawed. "Pit Of Zombies" rips with alternating tempos and time changes that never leaves the listener behind, but drags them screaming into the pit. "Mutilation Of The Cadaver" is another prime chunk of meat that sees vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher easily spewing forth his finest vocal fury on record (including an unnerving fourteen second scream).
Eight albums in and Cannibal Corpse have never defied their core fan base, continually strengthening their place as the most enduring, relevant and uncompromising Death Metal band ever. With "Gore Obsessed" introducing future classics "Sanded Faceless", "Hung And Bled", "When Death Replaces Life" and "Dormant Bodies Bursting", Cannibal Corpse have buried any and all possibility of being dethroned as the reigning purveyors of aural gore and sonic splatter. Sure to once again peek the interest of those who feel it their responsibility to protect the moral fiber of America's youth culture, Cannibal Corpse again turned to long time friend and artist Vincent Lock to create a visual representation of "Gore Obsessed" that could match the band's musical depiction. Having set a high standard with album covers for "Butchered at Birth" and "Tomb of the Mutilated," Locke, as expected, delivered the gore, and more. The CD cover for "Gore Obsessed" will be masked for retail outlets as no "censored" cover will be available domestically.

Brazilian thrashers CHAOSFEAR will support CANNIBAL CORPSE on Friday, October 19 at Hangar 110 in Sao Paulo.
CHAOSFEAR was recently rejoined by original guitarist Edu Boccomino.
After quitting SCARS, Boccomino was interested in joining up with his brother Fernando once again. "Everything happened so naturally because we have been friends for such a long time," CHAOSFEAR previously said in a statement. "We just had a quick talk and started playing again. The band is very excited to have the original lineup back together."
CHAOSFEAR has started writing material for the follow-up to "One Step Behind Anger", tentatively due in 2008 via OSM Records.
Greg Burk of the Los Angeles Times reports that five heavy-metal concerts scheduled at House of Blues clubs on Walt Disney Co. property in Anaheim, California and Orlando, Florida have been hastily shifted to other venues or canceled recently, according to House of Blues web site calendars.
A Sept. 7 show featuring MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY, THROWDOWN and SANCTITY, booked two months earlier, was moved on two days' notice from the House of Blues in Anaheim's Downtown Disney entertainment complex to the Glass House in Pomona. Thursday's concert with CANNIBAL CORPSE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE RED CHORD and THE ABSENCE, originally slated for the Anaheim House of Blues, was moved to the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana. A Sept. 26 Anaheim House of Blues concert featuring OBITUARY, ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY, FULL BLOWN CHAOS and HEMLOCK has been canceled outright.
At the House of Blues in Orlando, Fla., on Disney World property, a Sept. 17 concert of the MACHINE HEAD lineup has been moved to Club Firestone in downtown Orlando. The same action has been taken with the Oct. 11 CANNIBAL CORPSE package.
Asked about the scheduling changes, John Vlautin, vice president of communications for Live Nation (formerly Clear Channel), the concert-promotion organization that owns the nationwide House of Blues chain, issued a statement Thursday that said only: "House of Blues offers a range of entertainment to match the audience at our venues. It was determined that the mix of entertainment at our two Disney locations should be different from our other venues."
Vlautin declined to comment on why metal bands have been singled out after years of similar bookings or whether other metal events already scheduled, including SUFFOCATION, EDGUY and STATIC-X, will be affected.
Rob Doughty, communications vice president for Disneyland Resorts, declined to comment, referring inquiries to Vlautin. Paul McGuigan, concert promoter at the Anaheim House of Blues, also declined to comment through a club spokeswoman.
The Walt Disney Co., through Vlautin, issued a short statement Thursday that included no specifics about the shifts of the metal concerts: "In consultation with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, the House of Blues will provide a mix of entertainment for guests visiting Disney Resorts."
Bassist Alex Webster of the legendary death metallers CANNIBAL CORPSE has issued the following update:
"I just finished recording the bass for the new HATE ETERNAL album on Monday night. I'm really happy with the results, and the band seems to be too. As you might expect, the album is being recorded at Mana Studios in St. Petersburg Florida, since that studio is run by Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL vocalist/songwriter/guitarist). Brian at Mana was the engineer who recorded my tracks, and I want to thank him for doing a fantastic job.
"For this recording I used my Ibanez SR 1500 (the same bass I used on CANNIBAL's 'The Bleeding' back in 1993), DR Strings, my Ampeg SVT 4 head and Erik's Ampeg 8x10 cabinet. We also recorded a track using a direct box, but it's not likely that we'll use it as the Ampeg sounded excellent.
"It was a real honor to work with Erik, Shaune, and Jade on this album, those guys are absolutely incredible musicians and great people too. They have put together some completely crushing and very original material for this upcoming album, and I am proud to be a part of it and thankful they gave me this opportunity.
"A lot of people have been asking me if I'll be touring with HATE ETERNAL in support of the new album, and at this point I don't have an answer for you all. It's really going to come down to seeing what my schedule is like in the coming months.
"In other news (it's been a busy time for me lately) CANNIBAL is starting a North American tour tomorrow night in New Orleans. The tour is a celebration of Metal Blade Records 25th anniversary, and it features THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE RED CHORD, GOATWHORE, and THE ABSENCE. Check www.cannibalcorpse.net for full dates and details. Also, there's a very good chance we'll have BLOTTED SCIENCE CDs [featuring Webster, guitarist Ron Jarzombek (WATCHTOWER, SPASTIC INK, MARTY FRIEDMAN), and drummer Charlie Zeleny (BEHOLD...THE ARCTOPUS, JORDAN RUDESS)] available at the shows (perhaps even prior to the Sept. 18th release date), so check the merch booth if you're interested in that."

CANNIBAL CORPSE bassist Alex Webster has issued the following update:
"[I] ust wanted to update you all on how the tour is going. We have had another major dissapointment, and that is that the concert in Venezuela was cancelled by the local authorities mere hours before we were to begin. This is an enormous disappointment for us, as all of the fans were already there, and many of them had traveled a great distance to get there. We are so frustrated, because there is no question this would have been an incredble concert. The venue was great, the equipment was great, all of the organization done by the local promoter seemed really well done. The audience outside of the concert seemed really excited about the show, and so were we. Unfortunately, the local government decided to shut the show down, and despite the best efforts of all envolved the show was cancelled. We are so sorry to all of the fans who came to see us play, you are no doubt the only people who are more dissapointed and frustrated than we are.
"In other tour news, we have learned a little more about the situation in Colombia. Apparently, a short announcement was made by a member of the local promoter's crew shortly after I made my announcement. I and the other guys did not hear this announcement as we were busy with our gear or greeting the fans, but while Paul was working on his drums he said he saw a man hiding behind the amplifiers talking into a microphone. From what we understand this man blamed the show stoppage on my illness, which as we have stated before is completely untrue. This dishonest announcement helps explain a great deal about why the audience was so angry. The guy who made the announcement was no doubt part of the same group of people that had just told us to stop playing because the police were shutting the show down. We are completely disgusted that this kind of misleading bullshit took place. We also have heard that the local promoter is saying similiar misleading statements on his website. We have never been put in a worse position by a promoter in the history of our band and we are furious about it. We also want to repeat that we are very sorry to our fans in Colombia for this early stoppage of the concert, we are so unhappy about all of this.
"OK, now that new have the bad news out of the way, I'd like to say a big thank you to all of the fans who came to the shows in El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Ecuador. Those shows went very well, and the audience response was just incredible. These shows have really helped lift our spirits during a tour that has had more than its fair share of problems.
"Also, just to let my friends know, I'm feeling fine now, and thank you so much for the support."
You can check out the greatest interview ever conducted, where CANNIBAL CORPSE vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher discusses his love of the “massive multiplayer online role-playing game” World of Warcraft online here.
Legendary death metallers CANNIBAL CORPSE have released ther following statement regarding their abbreviated August 17, 2007 performance in Bogota, Colombia:
"We have to clear up what happened at the Colombian show we recently played. The show was cut short, and cut short for one reason only: THE POLICE SHUT IT DOWN. Although we had terrible luck throughout the day in other ways (major problems with the local audio equipment, Alex [Webster, bass] was violently ill with food poisoning), these reasons would not be enough to make us stop playing. We stopped because the local promoter told us that we must stop because of the police. We had already played 11 songs (normally we play 17 or 18). We all wanted to play more, but the promoter said it was impossible. Unfortunately, nobody explained this situation to the fans, and many were angry, and a small riot ensued during which time our banner and pedal boards were stolen.
"It is very important to us in CANNIBAL CORPSE that our fans understand that we were not responsible in any way for being cut short, it was the police. We are sorry to the fans there who saw us play a shorter set than normal, but it was not our fault that we had to stop playing."
After a long hiatus, founding member Jarrett Pritchard has invoked the core trio of Tampa's now legendary death metal outfit EULOGY. Rejoined by Jason Avery, who spent many years fronting MONSTROSITY and drummer Clayton Gore of St. Louis' HARKONIN, the band is set to record a new album beginning on September 6 in Orlando with Jarrett at the controls.
Commented Jarrett: "At this point I have completed eight songs for the record and it promises not to dissapoint. On bass we have enlisted Mike Pogionne of MONSTROSITY/LECHEROUS NOCTURNE and at this time second guitar duties will be filled by none other than longtime friend Rob Barrett (CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATE PLOW, MALEVOLENT CREATION, SOLSTICE). At this point we have not approached any labels about the release and we intend to have the cap on it December 15, 2007 for an early 2008 release."
For those of you missing Wacken Open Air, several band performances, interviews, and other footage is being streamed online during festival hours. Keep in mind that Germany is 6 hours ahead of US Eastern Standard Time, so make appropriate adjustments when arranging to watch your favorite band.

Hate Eternal frontman, Erik Rutan has posted the following on the band's new drummer, Jade Simonetto, and their upcoming new album:
“Jade and I have been working together for 6 months or so, and his incredible skill and dedication to extreme drumming and groove has made him the perfect drummer for HATE ETERNAL. We gel on everything from all the old songs to the new and the creativity process has been amazing. Working with Jade on the new songs, there is so much diversity and signature drumming to the melodies and riffs. We have been in the middle of preproduction right now for weeks and will doing preproduction till the end of August. We will then start recording the drum tracks for our album! I am super excited about the new material and Alex is coming up with some incredible bass lines! This album is covering a lot more ground than we have previously and I am excited about jamming with Jade and Alex, and a suprise in the works! A lot more groove and diversity in an extreme way. We will record and mix between now and October, with an early 2008 release on METAL BLADE. I will keep you updated!”

Guitarist, Jack Owen (Deicide, Ex-Cannibal Corpse) will be joining forces with Ohio Death Thrashers ESTUARY for the upcoming “Balkans Assassination Tour” taking place this October alongside Krisiun, INCANTATION and Inactive Messiah.
"It's an honor to be performing with my long time friends in ESTUARY. It just makes perfect sense to me. Deicide is on hiatus, ESTUARY are a tight technical outfit, Massive Music is one of the best booking agents in Europe right now, and the cities and countries we'll visit make it appealing as well. And I'll be hanging with metal brothers Krisiun and INCANTATION! It will be like a death metal vacation! And my love of death metal just can't be denied! See everyone in the Balkans!" -Jack Owen
Both parties are excited about the collaboration and eager to thrash with the Balkan Metal horde. ESTUARY vocalist Zdenka Prado commented, “Needless to say, we are extremely excited and thankful for this amazing opportunity. It will be a pleasure to slay the stage with one of the world’s best death metal musicians, and one of the coolest people I know. This tour will rage!”
ESTUARY will be playing as many shows as possible in the states this summer supporting their new release “The Craft of Contradiction", including their recent addition to The Central Illinois Metal Fest '07 taking place July 19th – 21st.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER has commented on their upcoming release "NOCTURNAL":
“Hey troops, Trevor here from The Black Dahlia Murder. Just stopping by to tell you about our new album, Nocturnal, which is currently being mastered. From the songs, to the artwork, to the sound quality itself, we could not be more pleased with the results... We are all feeling like proud fathers over here. The album was recorded by Eric Rachel at Trax East, and mixed by Jason Seucof at Audiohammer... it sounds absolutely crushing. It should be just a couple of days before we post a new song on the myspace so you guys can have a taste of the carnage to come. In the mean time, we are gearing up for global destruction... ahem, our tour of the European Festival circuit, as well as our return to the UK. We are very excited to play at Wacken and are very honored to have the opportunity to play in front of so many metal heads. Not to mention our US tour in the fall in support of Cannibal Corpse... on which we will be debuting some new material. Come out and support extreme metal!!!!”

CANNIBAL CORPSE Reflect On European Mini-Tour
Posted: July 09, 2007 at 22:19 (PST)
CANNIBAL CORPSE have posted this message on their official website:
"Hello everybody. We've just returned from a seven-show mini-tour of Europe that was comprised of three festival dates and four headlining shows.
We began with a performance at France's Hellfest on June 22, the show went very well despite some inclement weather. Ask anyone who was there and they'll tell you there was definitely a lot of mud to deal with, as well as strong winds and rain. Regardless, the fans gave us and the other bands a great response.
The next show was at Belgium's Graspop festival. We had a great time at the festival, not only due to the great fan response during our performance, but also as fans ourselves. Getting to watch the other bands at these festivals is definitely part of the fun for us. For all of us, the band of the day was probably HEAVEN AND HELL, who played on the main stage minutes after our performance at one of the tent stages. It rained pretty hard during HEAVEN AND HELL's set, but we didn't mind getting soaked to watch masters like them perform. It was a truly killer show.
Following Graspop, we had a day off in Frankfurt and then we traveled on to St. Petersburg Russia. We had a great time performing there, and we were happy to have a little time to talk with some fans after the show. One fan told us we were playing during the 'White Nights' of St. Petersburg, and sure enough, even after the show had ended there was still daylight outside.
After an overnight train ride we arrived in Moscow. This was our third show in Moscow, and we are very happy we returned. Of all of the shows, the Moscow gig probably had the most stage diving, the crowd had extremely intense energy. Again, we were happy to be able to hang out with some fans at the club after the show, as we had not had much opportunity to do so during our first two trips to Moscow.
After Moscow, we returned to Germany and spent the night in Berlin. The next day we went to Leipzig for the With Full Force festival. It was another excellent festival with a great crowd, and of the three fests it was probably the one that had the best weather. There were a lot of great bands playing the festival throughout the night, but unfortunately didn't see many as we had to leave soon after our performance to get to the airport for our flight to Iceland.
It was our first time in Iceland, and we were all very excited to play there. We played two shows at the Nasa club in Reykjavik, and we had a great time at both. The fans were really intense both nights (the first show was drinking age, the second all ages). Everybody we met in Iceland gave us an incredible warm welcome and we hope to return to play again there in the future. A few of us also stayed in Iceland for an extra day for some sightseeing and the term 'awesome' is certainly not an overstatement to describe the things we saw (waterfalls, geysers, lava fields, hot springs, etc.). We should also note that during the 3 days went spent there it was daylight the entire time, much like the aforementioned 'White Nights' in St. Petersburg. That made an already interesting experience that much more unique. This was our first trip to Iceland, but we certainly hope it's not the last because it was an incredible trip.
In all, this short trip to Europe was really excellent and also very interesting. We'd like to thank the following people for their help during the tour (apologies to anybody we forget): Our road crew (Paul and Brian), Henk from Vain Productions, Vadim from Flaming Arts Productions, Hellfest, Graspop, With Full Force, Metal Blade Records Europe, Access Metal pub in Berlin, the drivers who took us to WFF and the airport, Thorsteinn, Smari, and everybody involved with the shows in Iceland (including the people who loaned us gear and the guys who helped out with the apartment, thanks so much), all of the great bands we shared the stage with during the tour, all of our friends we saw at the festivals, and of course, most importantly we need to thank the fans who came to the shows and kicked so much ass. You guys are the best, thank you!"

Webster’s appearance on HATE ETERNAL’s new album, is the result of the recent departure of the band’s bassist, Randy Piro Jr.
“I am very excited to be participating in the recording of Hate Eternal's next album. Erik [Rutan] is an amazing guitarist and songwriter, and one of my best friends.” comments bassist, Alex Webster “As bassist for the new album, I will do my best to make the strongest contribution possible to a band that has already proven itself to be at the highest level of brutality and musicianship".
Both Webster and HATE ETERNAL vocalist and guitarist, Erik Rutan have had a close working relationship prior to working on HATE ETERNAL’s upcoming album (due October 2007). Rutan produced CANNIBAL CORPSE’s latest album, Kill (March, 2006)
CANNIBAL CORPSE’s Kill debut on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at number 170.
“This record needs and deserves the best and I think Alex is the best bass player I know. He is
one of my best friends and know that Jared would be proud to have Alex be a part of Hate Eternal history” enthuses Rutan “He was my first bass player in Hate Eternal when I started and am proud to have him back as a part of it.”
HATE ETERNAL’s new album is due October 2007.
Cannibal Corpse checks after completing the first two weeks of their European tour:
“Hey everybody, I just wanted to let you all know how our European tour is going so far. Today we're playing in Slovenia, which will be the 14th show of the tour, so this show marks the halfway point. So far all of the shows have gone really well, the audiences have been excellent night after night. We also were very happy to finally play in Romania and Bulgaria. It was our first time playing in either of those countries, but it certainly won't be the last. Both countries have great death metal scenes, and we hope to return there when we tour for our next album. The other countries we've been through so far have been: France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Serbia, which was last night. We've met a ton of cool people at every show, so I'd like to say hello and thanks to any of you who might be reading this. OK, sound check is going to start in a few minutes, so I'd better get going. Thanks again to all the fans who have come to the shows so far, see the rest of you soon!"
Cannibal Corpse just embarked on the second leg of their tour. Joining them are Disavowed and Mortem.
