A new teaser trailer has been posted online and can be heard below. The following press release was also issued about the album:

Earth To Release "Primitive And Deadly" Album

Earth's career, like its music, has always been a slow, deliberate progression with each record slightly removed from the last, a constant refinement of a singular vision.

Dylan Carlson has remained focused throughout on coaxing moments of strange beauty and reflection from "the riff." With "Primitive And Deadly," Eearth's tenth studio collection, Carlson and long term cohort, drummer Adrienne Davies, manage to pull off the trick of completing an Ouroborean creative cycle, twenty-five years in the making, whilst exploring new directions in their music. The album will see worldwide release this September via Southern Lord Recordings, with a final street date to be announced shortly.

Prior to the album's release, Southern Lord shall be reissuing "Hex; Or Printing In The Infernal Method" and "The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull" on LP on June 24th in North America. In the meantime, fans can listen to the opening track from Dylan Carlson's solo soundtrack, "Gold," which will see independent digital and LP release on June 17th, via Pitchfork.com here.

Earth shall embark on a run of international tours beginning next week, including June and July dates across Japan, New Zealand, Australia and Europe, followed by another European tour in support of Primitive And Deadly, with much more in store. More...

Fun Fun Fun Fest 2012 Day One

Even though Fun Fun Fun Fest 2012 happened just a couple of miles from my apartment, it felt like an epic, festival journey. It was akin to driving from Texas to Maryland for the Maryland Death Fest. The road trip I took to a festival was in 2001 to the defunct Milwaukee Metal Fest. That trip was a mere 7-8 hours in the car from Michigan. Making it to Fun Fun Fun Fest meant 24 hours in the car, from Michigan to Texas. Unlike any other festival trip, though, I could sleep in my own bed after a long day of music and festivities.

4:30 AM November 2nd—I hit the highway outside Sikeston, Missouri, made it to Georgetown, Texas round 3:30 PM and immediately left for Austin. The highway reminded me of those nature programs depicting army ants traveling head to butt in a single file line through the forest. The festival surely added to Friday’s gridlock. I anxiously pushed on, trying to make it home in time to catch the best day of the fest for metal. Napalm Death, Municipal Waste, Burning Love, Converge and Tomahawk comprised this lineup. Despite my diligence, I would miss all of these acts.

Having arrived at the festival around 7 PM, I figured I missed the day’s metal acts, and would look towards Run DMC’s performance. My coverage was even further delayed by mistakes in issuing press credentials. While waiting for my photo pass, droning notes emanated from the Yellow Stage. Normally this stage features comedians, but after 5 PM, bands took the stage. I asked a staff member who was playing and he said Super Chunk. More...

Earth Announces U.S. Tour

After several months of silence, following bursts of worldwide touring in support of the two-part "Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light" album series, Earth has confirmed a full U.S. tour this Fall. The following press release was issued about the trek:

"The most extensive American tour Earth have planned since their 1990 inception, the Seattle purveyors of the slow-motion riff will traverse the country and back on a twenty-six date run, from the last week of October until just before Thanksgiving. Along the way the quartet will take part in the massive annual Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas alongside literally dozens of international artists of all genres. This will be the first U.S. tour since they hit the road in support of Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light I in 2011, the band’s set for the tour confirmed to contain a majority of the material from Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light II.

"While the band is touring in support of the Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light albums, the Earth lineup for this voyage will be the touring lineup from the band’s lauded 2008 LP The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull, comprised of Steve Moore on keys and trombone, Don McGreevy on bass, Adrienne Davies on drums and founder Dylan Carlson on guitar.

"Preceding the newly announced U.S. dates, Earth also has also confirmed a full tour of New Zealand, Australia and Japan through most of September! This venture will be performed as a trio; Dylan Carlson, Adrienne Davies and Don McGreevy." More...
