Coliseum Sign To Relapse Records

Relapse Records have announced the signing of Louisville, KY's COLISEUM.

COLISEUM (Ryan Patterson (BLACK CROSS, ex-THE NATIONAL ACROBAT) – guitars / vocals, Mike Pascal – bass and Chris Maggio – drums) is a powerhouse punk/hardcore outfit formed by long-time friends in the Louisville D.I.Y. hardcore scene who share a love for early British acts such as DISCHARGE, GBH, and MOTORHEAD.

The young band has a rich touring history, having completed full tours with MUNCIPAL WASTE, LORDS, YOUNG WIDOWS, DOOMRIDERS, SAVIOURS and more this year alone along with their first-ever European Tour. Additionally, COLISEUM recently completed its first headlining U.S. tour. Patterson posted upon the completion of this tour; "This was the first extended tour we've ever done without any other bands along with us, and it went great. We played with a ton of great bands, were treated like kings by so many awesome promoters and friends, experienced a lot of great things across the country, and listened to a never-ending stream of Longmont Potion Castle. Many thanks to everyone who made this such a memorable trip." More...

Coliseum Prepares New Album

Louisville, KY's Coliseum will be heading into God City Studios in Salem, MA to record their new album with Kurt Ballou in May 2007.

The band had this to say in an official statement:

"Chris flew in this week for five days of heavy duty songwriting and it went great - probably our best and most productive experience playing music together since Chris joined the band. We wrote two new songs and made some changes to two songs we'd written previously this year, "Seven Cities" and "The Burden." We have eight songs finished or in demo stages now and are shooting for around 16 when we enter the studio, so we can leave with a 10 or 12 song album and a few songs for splits, singles, etc. So far, most of the songs have shaped up to be about death or religion... That just seems to be the climate that prevails these days. Speaking of this last year... Chris Maggio has now been in Coliseum for a full year! It's been fucking great to have him in the band. 2006 has flown by and we accomplished a lot... Our first European tour, a split CD with Lords, a split 7"/CD with Young Widows, tours with Municipal Waste, Lords, Young Widows, Doomriders and Saviours, plus a full US tour on our own... Not to mention all the stuff in between. Thanks to everyone for the support, we're really amped for next year and the release of our next album!!!!"

By The Grace Of God To Play Benefit Show

Kentucky hardcore legends BY THE GRACE OF GOD will be playing a reunion show to benefit their friend and fellow Louisville hardcore scene staple Adele Collins on Saturday October 16th, 2004 in Louisville, KY at Headliners Music Hall. The show will also offer the first chance for fans to purchase the new BY THE GRACE OF GOD collection CD being released in November by Initial Records. COLISEUM (featuring Ryan Patterson of BLACK CROSS, THE NATIONAL ACROBAT) will be performing as well.

Collins, who has been diagnosed with a rare condition called Pseudotumor Cerebri, has been a longtime member of the Louisville hardcore family. Having operated her self-financed zine/label I STAND ALONE for a number of years as well as promoting shows in Louisville, Collins has become both a friend and supporter of not just local bands, but bands from around the world. With mounting medical and insurance bills and her well-being, vision, and even life on the line, Collins' friends have come together to organize the BY THE GRACE OF GOD reunion show to help her raise money.
