Martin Thim, guitarist of Danish metal outfit Exmortem, has announced that he has decided to disband the group, citing a lack of motivation. A message from Thim reads as follows:
"Exmortem have been one of the leading acts in the Danish metal scene for many years and set the bar high with albums like Berzerker Legions and latest Funeral Phantoms.
"Our last album Funeral Phantoms is also viewed as the band's absolutely best release and we are proud to leave on the top of our career. With Funeral Phantoms we reached what we have always aimed for, so now it's time for something new.
"I'm also extremely proud to look back and be able to say that we never repeated ourselves, each album has it's own sound and atmosphere, no album is alike. That is very satisfying as an artist!! More...
Danish death metal band Exmortem has issued the following statement about making an appearance at this year's SPOT festival in Denmark:
"Exmortem is proud to announce that we will play at this years SPOT festival in Aarhus, Denmark. The biggest music business festival in northern Europe. The festival will take place in may 2009 and we will have a lot more news on this event later.
"About SPOT: Around 100 upcoming Danish and Nordic bands and artists with international ambitions will play concerts in central Aarhus. Conferences and seminars on current issues in the music business. Over 1000 Danish and international representatives from the music business: record companies, publishers, bookers, concert organizers, media, etc."
Danish extreme death metallers, Exmortem, have recently finished recording their forthcoming 6th album. The band has self produced this record, while mixing was done by Jacob Bredahl (HateSphere, Last Mile). The album has been titled "Funeral Phantom" and will be released worldwide on the 20th of October 2008.

EXMORTEM, "Denmark’s oldest and most loyal death metal band," inked a two-album deal with Mighty Music late last year.
According to a press release, "after a two year period searching for their roots, Exmortem are now back and ready to record their sixth full-length album. The new material is nothing short of unique in it’s own dark and morbid way. The material will include almost CELTIC FROST/ENTOMBED-like slow songs, more mid-paced Blessed Are The Sick-sounding tracks, and not to forget a bunch of fast and extreme tunes to spice up the symphony."
The band have now issued the following studio update:
"We are back in the studio!"
"(Vocalist) Simon (Petersen) has put down vocals for the first track and we will continue tomorrow. A lot of different vocal styles will be used on this album it seems!"

Danish metal act EXMORTEM has ended its co-operation with Earache/Wicked World Records effective immediately. "EXMORTEM will now start to look for a new home for their coming releases, as well as a booking agency that will take care of their coming live activity," reads a statement from the group.
"The band is right now in writing mode and will record the follow-up to 'Nihilistic Contentment' (2005) during the winter. Most of the album has been written, so a release should be expected during the beginning/first half of 2007. This release will be the first with drummer Morten Siersbaek and the first to show the band's 'new' style…"
The band added: "We are in no hurry finding our new partners in crime, but expect to announce a new label pretty soon though."

Guitarist Martin "Sigtyr" Thim of the Danish death metallers Exmortem has posted the following message on the band's official website:
"It's been a long time since the last update again...and the thing is that there's not a hell lot to tell really. Morten [Siersbaek, drums] is in France at the moment and in the meantime me and Andreas [Schubert, guitar] continue working on new material. We are also working on a four-track rehearsal that should be done in a few weeks, but this will not be made official in any way! Andreas is involved in Lithium that have recorded a MCD and are looking for a label, they should have a site up soon... Simon [Petersen, vocals] has just finished a new album with Horned Almighty that should be out soon. In Illdisposed we are awaiting the release date on the new album, plus the touring schedule that follows...more on this as it [becomes] available!"
Exmortem's latest album, "Nihilistic Contentment", was released in January 2005 via Earache/Wicked World Records. The CD was recorded over a four-week period at Antfarm Studio in Aarhus, Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Hatesphere, Mnemic).
Danish black metal band HORNED ALMIGHTY, featuring members of EXMORTEM and KOLDBORN, have finished mixing their new album, "The Devil's Music - Songs of Death and Damnation", for an April release via Infernus Rex. The follow-up to 2004's "Black Metal Jesus" will feature nine or 10 tracks, including "Discipline of the Almighty", "The Devil's Music", "Repentance" and an as-yet-undisclosed cover song. "Expect some kick-ass blasphemous black 'n' roll!!!" the band write in a press release.
"The Devil's Music - Songs of Death and Damnation" will mark the recording debut with the band of new members Aries and Luger.

Exmortem are hard at work writing and demoing new material for their highly anticipated follow-up to ‘NIHILISTIC CONTENTMENT’ which was released earlier this year on Wicked World / Earache.
Guitarist Sigtyr had this to say: “We are really hard at work on the new album right now. We look at this as the most important Exmortem album so far, because we want to set a new standard for ourselves and do something fresh” “As something new for us, we are recording demos of all the material and this has turned out to be a huge help and a great way to work with the new album” “We still don’t know where and when we will record, but we are looking at the different options right now. Only thing that’s sure is that we won’t record until we are ready and 100% satisfied with the new material. A few of the song titles that will appear on the album are: “Slow Death Regime” and “Salvation”.
Exmortem guitarist Martin Thim is the newest recruit to Illdisposed.
"Martin is known for his longtime work with the Danish death metallers Exmortem, and he has been a friend of Illdisposed for many years," the band's site offers.
"Martin begins in the band immediately, both playing live and participating in creating the next album. Therefore we are aiming to give some of the new songs a more hard and brutal twist."
Exmortem have announced their new bass player will be Rune Koldby who is also part of Spectral Mortuary. Exmortem's current line-up is as follows:
