Keep Of Kalessin Comments On New Album
Norwegian extreme metal horde Keep Of Kalessin will release "Reptilian" in North America on June 8th. The follow up to Keep of Kalessin's 2008 release, "Kolossus," was recorded once again at the band's own studio in Trondheim, Norway. Final mixing duties were handled this time around by Daniel Bergstrand. Members of the band spoke about what it was like to work with Daniel Bergrstrand and their upcoming tour with Nile, Ex Deo, Psycroptic, and Pathology.
"We're very happy with the result of the new album,” guitarist Obsidian C. commented. “Working with Daniel Bergstrand was great and he really helped us gain a more powerful production. This album is more direct and in-you-face than before and we hope that our fans will like it. We have also started to play some of these songs live now and they work better than any of our earlier material. We also see that the crowd react very well to these new songs and we're looking forward to playing them for the American fans in October and November when we will be touring with Nile over there."
Drummer Vyl added: “The new album is intended to go straight for the kill. With more power and edge than before. We wanted a more contemporary sound without loosing the organic feel to it. I feel that the title Reptilian is a statement and describes the album rather than proposing a concept. We hired Daniel Bergstrand for drum-recording and mix. You know you'll get results when he goes ‘that was a world-class fill’ or ‘that beat fucking sucks’. His honesty and flair for detail really raised the level of our sound. And he had a great coffee-machine.”
