Keep Of Kalessin Signs With Season Of Mist
Norway is known for pioneering a legendary branch of extreme metal, but no band embodies the scene's epic resolve quite like Keep of Kalessin.
This band has always possessed fantastic foresight. After all, they are named after one of Ursula K. Le Guin's arch-dragons. Their original lineup did split after two albums of dark, fast and war-faring black metal, but over the past two decades, founding member Arnt Obsidian has brought Keep of Kalessin into the national spotlight. While he and his colossal crew have toured with the likes of Satyricon, Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir, they've carved their own legacy by forging a different path.
With seven albums and three EPs under their hilt, Keep of Kalessin brandish an epic arsenal of extreme metal. The band's mastery at welding blackened melodies and scouring death metal riffs with magical keys and misty synthesizers has rewarded them handsomely. They've scored two Spellemannprisen nominations and scaled to the top of Norway's album charts. To further test their mettle, they became the first Norwegian metal band to compete for a spot in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Keep Of Kalessin Releases New Lyric Video
The pioneers of Epic Extreme Metal, Keep Of Kalessin has released a new lyric video for their track "The Omni" taken from their latest opus "Katharsis."
Katharsis has reeceived high acclaim in the metalscene worldwide including top reviews and was even coined "Album Of The Month" in the March issue of Norway‘s #1 Metal Mag, Scream Magazine!
"The Omni" is among many fans of epic music considered as one of the greatest tracks on the album and the lyrics on this track are especially interesting.
Keep Of Kalessin founder and front man Arnt Obsidian comments:
"The Omni was one of those tracks where I truly believed in the song, but was struggling a bit to really capture the grand atmosphere with some great lyrics. And it wasn‘t until I spent 5 weeks alone in Spain during the pandemic that I felt I was able to get those emotional and epic lyrics to fit the song.
"During that time, I had a lot of time to think and contemplate. It was also at the same time when I had hit a low point in my life, but one night I was listening to the demo of the track and as I was looking up on to the night sky I started creating these lyrics. I saw the stars so clearly and started thinking about how we are all created from the same stardust and how insane it is to think about how the universe is put together, and how we are actually there in essence looking back at ourselves. It was almost as if I saw my own face in the sky looking back at me when the quote from my all time favourite sci-fi show Babylon 5 came to mind: We are the universe made manifest, looking back at itself, trying to figure itself out.
"And I kinda based the lyrics around that because it‘s so powerful, but also as a tribute to one of my favourite shows of all time.
"I personally think the lyrics for 'The Omni' is something truly special. At least it is for me and it hopefully makes you think a little more than the common metal lyrics in today‘s scene.
"So we decided to put together a lyric video to emphasize this and I hope people will enjoy it and I think some people who take the time to really listen and understand the track will have a truly emotional time with 'The Omni'" More...

70000 Tons Of Metal 2023: Day Two
Rise and shine sea dogs! The second day of 70000 Tons Of Metal 2023 dawned and with it came the knowledge that the Pool Deck, perhaps the most notable stage on board the ship, was open for business with plenty of favourites ready to let their sound ride the Caribbean wind. Opening the stage was German power metal veterans Freedom Call, perhaps the happiest metal band on Earth, though personally, I was less than chipper to wake up just after they'd finished their set, missing out on the fun in the sun. So after a quick shower, it was time to head up to the eleventh floor for my first taste of sea air and outdoor metal this year.
Despite missing out on Freedom Call, perhaps there was no better way to get into the spirit of things than by witnessing one of your bucket list bands, which in my case was Dutch death metal legends, God Dethroned. The quartet has been on a roll since their second return in 2014, releasing two excellent albums with a third reportedly in production and watching this lineup, it's safe to assume that God Dethroned has never been healthier. They looked as if they were enjoying themselves as much as the fans were and songs like "Poison Fog" and "No Man's Land" sounded absolutely amazing. Swedish death metal veterans Hypocrisy has been announced as the final name for this year's edition of the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise. The organisers of the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise have confirmed a further three names for the 2023 edition of the event, which will launch in just over two weeks on January 30th from Miami, Florida, before returning on February 3rd. Now added to the lineup are Dutch outfit Dear Mother, Canadian progressive metal band Osyron and Colombian melodic death metal group Eshtadur.

The announcements for the 2023 edition of 70000 Tons Of Metal are coming thick and fast with the organisers of the cruise confirming two more names for the voyage today. British death metal legends Cancer will be boarding the ship, as will German Viking metal band Wolfchant. Speaking on the announcement, Cancer said:
"We are beyond stoked to announce that we will be spreading this fatal disease called death fucking metal at the one and only 70000tons, the world's biggest heavy metal cruise in just a few weeks!
"We've definitely never played in a setting like this one, so you can imagine the four of us are quite excited about it! A good bunch of friends and bands that we love have been already announced and we'll all make a total of 60 artists playing two sets each when the whole line-up gets revealed!
Grab your tickets now before it is too late! See you in Miami and Bimini VERY soon! CFC."

Vektor Pulled From 70000 Tons Of Metal
Last night, the organisers of the 70000 Tons Of Of Metal cruise announced that Sci-Fi thrashers Vektor would be performing in the 2023 edition of the event. In the past hour, the 70000 Tons social pages have confirmed that the band have since been removed from the event. While no reason has been cited, there were angry responses from attendees past and present owing to allegations made against lead vocalist David DiSanto by his ex-wife.
70000 Tons Of Metal will sail from Miami on January 30th and last until February 3rd, during which time the ship will dock in Bimini, Bahamas.
