Latest Imagika News
Below is our complete Imagika news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Note: We began associating news directly with bands in late 2003. Therefore, earlier band news may not be listed on this page.
Kill Ritual has posted the following update online;
"After the demise of Imagika, Wayne and I decided to form a new band that would bring life to the music we had been working on after Imagika called it a day. We had a goal in mind of writing music that reflected our influences from thrash, classic, progressive, power, whatever-kicks-ass metal and this required bringing in experienced players that have been there and done that. We were lucky enough to come in contact with Roberto and Danyael, who had the kind of pedigree and experience we were definitely looking for.
"Having both been in bands that have released numerous albums worldwide and toured extensively, they are a perfect fit for this new band. The missing element was, of course, vocalist Josh, who came into the band with the work ethic, experience and attitude that is essential as a vocalist to help the songs take on a life of their own. His unique and identifiable vocal style is the change we needed from our past projects as we definitely had the idea of Kill Ritual taking a new direction from our collective past bands and I think we have achieved that. I mean, what's the point of rehashing what you've already done? I feel the rough demo tracks [we have released] show this and are only a hint of what's to come."

" More info, photo's, music and tour dates too come! New CD 'serpentine rituals' in 2011!"
Imagika posted a brief statement online indicating the band was breaking up back in October, but later removed the message and appeared to be moving forward. Lead guitarist/songwriter Steve Rice has now issued the following statement about the band officially calling it quits:
"All things must come to an end and for Imagika the time is now. After 17 years, 7 worldwide releases, 2 vocalist, 5 guitarist, 3 bassist, 2 drummers, countless performances and tour dates I’ve decided to put the band to rest. The reasons are many, but the truth is that it’s time for something new and to move forward without being bound to the past. I’m not mourning the end because I’m grateful the band lasted as long as it did. I look forward to building upon the music and legacy of a band I spearheaded for close to 2 decades with my new project.
"I would personally like to thank all the fans, press, labels, booking agents, promoters, venues, studios, engineers, artist, instrument manufactures and everyone else that had a helping hand in Imagika’s career. It could not have happened without you! I will personally still handle and oversea everything Imagika post mortem for the foreseeable future.
"Moving forward, drummer Wayne Devecchi, former Eldritch guitarist Roberto Proietti and I have formed a new Metal/ Thrash project that will take our collective musical ideas to the next level. Fans of our past bands music will not be disappointed as we’ve put together some great catchy material that is melodic, complex and heavy. A five song instrumental demo has already been recorded and we are presently seeking a Pro Vocalist and Bassists to complete the project. Interested parties can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org Please have reviewable audio or video media."
California's Imagika has issued the following brief update about recording new songs for auditioning a new vocalist and bassist:
"4 new demo songs are recorded, mixed and ready for vocals. We're using these songs to audition potential vocalists and bassist. We have a couple good guys working on it now so we'll see what they can do. We're still open to other auditions at this point so if you have what takes feel free to contact us for samples of the new material."
You can check out Imagika's music through the band's MySpace page.
California based metal act Imagika has issued the following brief update about recording new material: "Drum tracks are completed for 5 new songs that we'll be using to select a new voice for the band. The material is quite different than the last CD and should be a great step forward for the future." You can also check out Imagika's music via the band's MySpace page.
California's Imagika has issued the following announcement about entering the recording studio:
"New demo recordings. We'll be hitting Fang Studios next week to start tracking drums for 4 new songs that we'll be used to help select a new vocalist. The songs are of course in my humble opinion killer and will definitely dictate the direction of the new CD. We're still open to auditions for vocalist and bassist so bring it on if you can handle the gig."

UPDATE: Imagika has since removed this message and provided no further information on why it was posted.
San Francisco Bay Area metal act Imagika, which parted ways with vocalist Norman Skinner in September, has now issued the following brief and cryptic statement via MySpace: "R.I.P.
More to come..............." When questioned by a fan what that meant, the band replied "All will be explained soon...." Further details on Imagika's new announcement will be released as they are made available.
San Francisco bay area metal act Imagika recently parted ways with vocalist Norman Skinner. The band has now issued the following announcement about seeking a new singer:
"Imagika is seeking a new vocalist. Please have audio, photo, etc. to apply. All recordings will be done in the SF Bay Area so the ability to travel is required. Future touring commitments are required. We are not looking for a clone of our former singer. A aggressive voice with the ability to sing is essential. Male vocalist preferred. All contact can be made to email@example.com."
You can check out the band's music via the Imagika MySpace profile.
Imagika vocalist Norman Skinner has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band:
"After 6 years, 4 albums, festivals, tours & countless shows today I announce that I am officially leaving Imagika. This decision was not made lightly and has been a constant thought throughout this last year. I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea as I have no animosity towards any of the members of Imagika. They are and will continue to be my very good friends. My decision to leave is purely one of musical direction differences and an overall career choice.
"I feel that I have contributed and done all I can within the band but my heart is no longer in it. I have finished all commitments and obligations to the group in regards to our last release and think I would be doing the band and the Imagika fans an injustice by half-heartedly continuing the writing process for a new album. I will be making the Imagika show on October 16th, with Armored Saint my farewell performance with the group. I am sure it will be a very bittersweet event for me as my chapter with Imagika closes and a new one opens.
"I was a fan before joining Imagika and I will be a fan once again. It is now time for a new vocalist to rise up and carry the Imagika torch. To my fans, thank you for the years of support and stay tuned… I will continue to sing and am excited to see what opportunities await me next on my musical journey. Any interested bands and..or musicians can contact me at this e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org."
San Francisco bay area act Imagika has commenced writing for the band's upcoming 8th album. The follow up to “Portrait Of A Hanged Man” will see the debut appearance of new members guitarist Rob Kowolski and drummer Wayne DeVecchi. Guitarist Steve Rice will again engineer the new album, which will be mixed by Andy LaRocque. Founding member Steve Rice discusses the approach to the new CD by stating:
"The band is definitely ready to kick ass with the new material that has been developing since we’ve been back from our US tour this past Summer. 13 new songs are in the works and as usual it will be a departure from our past releases. The original idea was to approach this as a concept album, but we agreed that it’s been beat to death by so many other bands that there is no point. I mean how can you top some of the great Metal concept albums like Operation Mind Crime or Abigail? It’s very hard to accomplish and not really our thing at the end of the day.
"But after hearing our singer’s seemingly endless collection of fruity, flowery Euro Power Metal while on the tour bus and sparing his iPod a horrible asphalt death I definitely knew what I didn't want to do! HA! A CD full of progressive, complex and melodic Thrash Metal is more appealing to me and the band at this point and decidedly the definitive goal for this next release. By bringing new blood into the band there’s an aggressive attitude for making a bold statement with a lot to prove! Also being able to approach the recordings as a 2 guitar band is inspiring since we haven’t done that since our 'My Bloodied Wings' 2006 release. It’ll be cool to kick it up a notch and bring more shred and harmony to the table this time. All in all I’m expecting nothing but the best from the band."
California's Imagika has issued the following update about parting ways with drummer Henry Moreno:
"Drummer Henry Moreno has left Imagika and has effectively been replaced by SF Bay Area Metal veteran Wayne De Vecchi. A current member of Hellhound, Wayne’s past bands include Purgatory SF and Doom Society who toured both the US and Europe. Bringing in his influences of everything from Slayer to Dream Theater to Pantera, Wayne is looking forward to taking another step in his music career by joining IMAGIKA. He will make his live debut on June 25th at the Warriors Of Metal Fest 3 in Chillicothe, Ohio."
Imagika is currently booking their “A Portrait In Metal” U.S. tour that is set to begin July 23 and run through August 8th. The tour will be in support of the North American release of the band's “Portrait Of A Hanged Man” CD. Details on the specific cities and venues will be announced as they are made available.
Pittsburgh melodic metal band ICARUS WITCH has announced a change in their lead vocalist. In a statement from the band's official site they explained the situation:
"We are excited to announce yet another massive shift in our ranks as we welcome new vocalist Christopher Shaner to the ICARUS WITCH circle and part ways amicably with original vocalist, Matthew Bizilia. Matthew's contributions to the band have been immeasurable over the past six years. While this was a serious decision for both parties, professional differences of opinion led to the change. Bizilia is a phenomenal talent who will always be a part of the Witch family as we wish him much success on his future ventures."
Incoming vocalist and Erie, Pennsylvania native Shaner is a long time friend and collaborator of guitarist Quinn Lukas. Before Quinn moved to Pittsburgh to join ICARUS WITCH in 2006, he had worked on various musical projects with the singer. Much like the recent acquisition of second guitarist Ed Skero, the choice to add Christopher to the band was based on a combination of what he brings to the lineup personally, musically and professionally. His powerful vocal range, sense of harmony and intense work ethic are a perfect fit for the next phase of this band. Writing for the follow-up to Draw Down The Moon has already commenced with the new recruits and it promises to be the band's most diverse, melodic and epic release ever. More...

His former bands have performed with Anthrax, Death Angel, Legacy (Testament), Forbidden, Megadeth, Nitro, Vicious Rumors and Slayer."

Imagika will sound even more aggressive now and we look forward to our future collaboration as we start the writing for our next CD. Rob came in at a great time on the eve of our new release 'Portrait Of A Hanged Man' which we believe is our best release to date. The fans can definitely expect a heavier, louder and faster Imagika!"

We hate making the same CD twice and never will. We always want to keep pushing ourselves to the next level and I believe we’ve achieved this with the quality of the new songs."
