Due to a bus breakdown, Sweden's In Flames will be unable to play their (non-Ozzfest) show in Odessa, Texas tonight (August 24) with Mudvayne, Shadows Fall and Trivium.
As previously reported, Nuclear Blast Records has pushed back the projected release date of the new In Flames album, "Come Clarity", to February 2006. No reason was given for the delay.
The follow-up to 2004's "Soundtrack to Your Escape", "Come Clarity" was mixed at Tonteknik studio in Umeå, Sweden and will be "more uptempo" and will feature "more guitar harmonies" than its predecessor, according to In Flames singer Anders Fridén.
I attended Ozzfest 2005 on Sunday, July 24 in Bristow, Virginia’s Nissan Pavilion (my report is running late, as I’ve found myself overcommitted lately). This fest was the tenth annual Ozzfest, and not to be outdone by last year’s excellent lineup, this year they sported an equally as good lineup spanning more genres of metal than before. This year’s lineup also contained numerous headliner-quality bands on both stages including, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, and of course Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath.
Had I known that both people I was supposed to go with would bail out, I would have lined up a photo pass for the whole show to give me something more to do. As it turned out, I pretty much just enjoyed the show and met up with As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis for an interview that we missed in Philadelphia, PA.
While this year’s lineup sported mostly bands I knew and had heard, most I was only vaguely familiar with, so pardon the lack of specific details such as song names, etc. in many cases. More...
After a long 3-hour drive, mostly due to traffic, I arrived with my girl friend and good friend at PNC Arts Center. Tailgating with some people from Metal Faction Radio in the main parking lot we clearly heard the second stage acts performances.
Ozzfest organizers have been forced to cancel the Tuesday, August 16 show in Salt Lake City due to some unforeseen scheduling conflicts. The show will not be rescheduled and refunds are available at point of purchase.

Swedish/German extreme metallers ARCH ENEMY kicked off their first U.S. tour in support of "Doomsday Machine", their highly anticipated new album, last week on Ozzfest to rave reviews. The dynamic offering was mixed by acclaimed producer Andy Sneap (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, NEVERMORE, OPETH) and features striking cover art by renowned artist Joachim Luetke (DIMMU BORGIR). A video for the track "Nemesis", shot by renowned director George Bravo (who also shot the group's "We Will Rise" clip), is now complete; look for it to make its "Headbanger's Ball" and "Metal Asylum" debut early next month. Be sure to also check out Decibel magazine's striking Angela Gossow cover feature, which is currently on stands.
Daniel Erlandsson (drums) checks in with a report from the road: "We are now back on track again after having missed the Camden, N.J. show, which was very disappointing, but shit happens and tour busses do break down. We ended up drinking ourselves silly while listening to old SCORPIONS albums in a parking lot.
"We just played another Ozzfest show today, this time in Darien Lakes, which is close to Buffalo. It was a great show, and we received an amazing response. We are playing one new song, 'Nemesis', off our new album, 'Doomsday Machine', and it is great to see the fans' amazing responses. A big thank you to all the people getting it on in the moshpit and all the people attending the FYE and Jägermeister signing sessions after our set, you all rule! Tomorrow we're playing another off-date show in London, Ontario with IN FLAMES and TRIVIUM, which should be another good one. We are looking forward to seeing all the fans there.
"No more groundbreaking news from here apart from me witnessing a couple of famous faces in the catering area. I'll have to leave you guessing."
The official In Flames has been revamped. Check it out here.
In other news, IF bassist, Peter Iwers, has posted this message on the website regarding the first Ozzfest show:
Hey all! We just started this whole roundtrip with the Ozzfest and the first show was yesterday!
Wow, we really had a blast , I'm really looking forward to the next shows as well...
I was a bit worried that people wouldn't get over to our stage in time, but once we hit the stage I was fine, everybody seemed to know about the fact that we'll start a few minutes early on every ozzfest and got over from the 2:nd stage in time for our show....great crowd too!!!!
Added a few pictures of me and Jepser doing a walkabout in Glens Falls here, enjoy and I'll talk to u soon at my corner...cheers / Peter
