In Flames Releases Surprise Covers EP

Swedish melodic death metal veterans In Flames has today released a four track covers EP entitled, "Down, Wicked and No Good." Appropriately, the song includes covers of the Alice In Chains song, "Down In A Hole," Chris Isaak's, "Wicked Game" and the Depeche Mode classic, "It's No Good," for which they have released a new music video. It also contains a live recording of the Nine Inch Nails staple, "Hurt."

Speaking on the Depeche Mode cover, the band said: "We’ve been fans of Depeche Mode since we were as young as 10. Getting to do our rendition of ‘It’s No Good’ showed us a different side of the song – it brought new meanings to us. We relate to the lyrics and power of the song so heavily that it almost feels as if we could have written it ourselves. They’re a band that we’ve always looked up to. Growing up, you either listened to Pop, Synths or Rock and even though we are a metal band, Depeche Mode inspired a lot of the electronic elements we use in our music today." More...

In Flames Posts Behind-The-Scenes Footage

Behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the new In Flames videos "The Truth" and "The End" can be seen below. Both tracks are taken from the band's twelfth studio album, "Battles," which will be released on November 11th via Nuclear Blast.

The CD was recorded in Los Angeles with Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson, who has previously worked with Motorhead, Body Count, and Sepultura among others. Check out the new album webisode below.

In Flames guitarist Björn Gelotte commented on the recording process for the album as compared to previous releases: "'Siren Charms' had a very dark vibe to it. We recorded it at a cold, damp and dark time during the year in Berlin so it gave it a certain melancholy to the record. Now recording in L.A. with the sunshine, it's a different energy. The writing process was different this time, too — that I would like for us to continue to explore. Also, working with Howard and his team was great. I got stressed taking a break for even five minutes because they were always ready to go for the next take and kept my energy up." More...
