Irish pagan metal group Primordial will release the first live album in the band's history: "Gods To The Godless (Live at Bang Your Head Festival Germany 2015)," on November 25th via Metal Blade Records. Check out the title track below.
Primordial's A.A. Nemtheanga comments: "It might seem like an unusual move, a double live album. Especially within the scene we are from, but the live album was once a staple of most bands' careers and something we all grew up with in our collection. Pouring over tour dates, gear information and killer live pics.
"Ok so it's not 'Live After Death' but you can see the attraction and taste the romance involved, right? Fact is though we hadn't planned it, it was basically a happy coincidence, the good people at Bang Your head who took such a risk booking us the first time on a more traditional old school rock festival had us back for the fourth time, gave us a proper headlining set length and happened to mention afterwards that they had a mobile recording device rigged up and ready to go.
"When we listened back to the tapes we found something we could work with and the idea took shape. If you love the band, you will know what to expect: blood, guts and passion - and believe us, the double vinyl will look beautiful! If we've been in your orbit, but you've never trained your sights on us properly, this might be a good place to start as the sound is massive, the old songs have some added muscle and the planets aligned to make 'Gods to the Godless' perhaps a great introduction to the band. Following an excellent start to the festival the day before, it was exciting to wake up to another day of metal music in Dessel. There was once again plenty on display for head bangers of all tastes, from legendary bands to current favourites. There were also plent of cult heroes performing on this day, one of which was the first band on the agenda.
Formed in 1991 under the name Resurrection in Israel, Orphaned Land have gone on to become one of, if not the premier metal band from the Middle East. Part of what makes them such an endearing group is their constant devotion of their music to peace, particularly between the Abrahamic religions that clash more than anywhere around their homeland. They were a great way to start the day, possessing a fantastic energy that got plenty of the crowd moving, which is quite an accomplishment for midday at a festival. Opening with the title track to their latest album, "All Is One," they oozed a positive atmosphere and most heads that were banging were also smiling. Having only a forty minute set, it was impressive that the band were able to fit seven songs into their schedule, with the excellent "Separi" being a particular highlight, in part due to the guest appearance of a Dutch Muslim belly dancer, who also joined the group for their finale, which was a medley of "Norra el Norra" and "Ornaments of Gold." Like several bands the day before, Orphaned Land were highly impressive and one that needs adding to the metal fans list of bands to see live. More...

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are a point of much contention among the metal community (with its overall disdain for consumerism, commercial whoring, and conformity) - so much so that every year Daniel Vrangsinn's (Carpathian Forest) label Misantrof even releases the "Holy Fucking ANTIChristmas" compilation in December.
Despite that, many of the underground labels do offer sales and discounts the week of Thanksgiving, so if you're looking to get some quality metal, hardcore, or rock releases on a budget, this is the time to do it - and most of it is online or digital in nature, so as a bonus, you don't have to get stomped to death by a horde of deal hunters at 5 AM!
More links will be added throughout the week as labels and distros announce their various sales, so check back in often.
If actually buying music in physical format (and especially on vinyl) is more your thing than ordering online, then RECORD STORE DAY has compiled a handy list just for you of limited run, exclusive, or Black Friday-first releases only available in stores. Peruse the full list over here.
For the digital music junkies, AMAZON.COM has dozens of $5 digital hard rock and metal albums from bands like Arch Enemy, In This Moment, White Zombie, Lamb Of God, Chimaira, and many more. The deals run through the full month of November. More...
Today, Irish metal legion Primordial unveils the official new music video for "Babel's Tower."
The epic tune comes by way of the band's imminent new full-length, "Where Greater Men Have Fallen" (reviewed here) and serves as the first ever professionally filmed and edited video of group's storied history.
Elaborates the band, "It was really about time, right? This far down the road, we finally made our first video eight albums in. So we trusted Gareth Averill and crew who also made our DVD [All Empires Fall] a couple of years back. The traditional band-jamming-in-a-warehouse scenario was not something that entered our heads.
"We wanted something broad and cinematic; something visually striking and arresting. So we spent a couple of cold and windswept days standing on the side of a mountain in Ireland. Here you have it, and about time…"
The organizers of the Blastfest have checked in with the following announcement about final band confirmations:
"The lineup announcements had to come to an end eventually and Blastfest has now revealed the final three bands for the main lineup. But that’s not to say what you see on the burgeoning Blastfest poster is all that’s happening. No, no, no, there will be more!
"There’s already a lineup that would bring tears to the eyes of even the toughest metalhead with bands such as Demilich, Satyricon, Decapitated, Paradise Lost, At The Gates & Moonsorrow... and just last week a cruise up the Norwegian fjords with live bands was announced as part of the first days festivities. We still have to hear more… the clinics, the stand up comedy, the exhibitions, and lots more have yet to be revealed!
"For now, let’s leave this here… Sweden’s Uppsala upstarts, the black metal powerhouse, the entity of its own who released possibly their best work to date just last year with ‘The Hunt’, yes, the mighty Watain have been announced as another Blastfest 2015 headliner. The festival has also welcomed Austria’s sickest death metal export Schrinec Plays Pungent Stench and Bergens blackened deaththrash horde Grimfist." More...
The organizers of the Blastfest have announced the first headlining act as none other than Satyricon, commenting:
"Yes, you did in fact read that right, Norway's Satyricon have been announced as the Saturday headliner at Blastfest.
"And that’s not all! The festival has also announced another 8 bands including 3 of the best from Britain, black metallers Winterfylleth, stoner doom hard rockers Orange Goblin and Falloch from Glasgow, Scotland.
"The latest announcement also includes Kall, Naer Mataron, Aspherium, Purple Hill Witch, all very much forces of reckoning in their respective fields. Blastfest has also booked its very first covers band, Bergen's very own Motörhead tribute act Bömbers, whom have been approved by Lemmy Kilmister himself.
"It will be cold and it will be extreme! Held in the beautiful city of Bergen, Blastfest is offering one of the, if not thee, finest extreme metal line-ups of 2015. Acts already announced include Paradise Lost, Decapitated, Primordial, Rotting Christ, Destruction and Asphyx with many more yet to be announced." More...

"Where Greater Men Have Fallen" was recorded at Grouse Lodge in Dublin with Jaime Gomez (Cathedral, Angelwitch, Grave Miasma) and delivers some of the band's deepest, most methodically arranged, thematically profound and plainly gripping compositions. More...
Dublin's Primordial will release new studio album, "Where Greater Men Have Fallen," on November 25th via Metal Blade Records. Singer A.A. Nemtheanga elaborates:
"Some time at the end of 2013 we sat and began to plot a course for album number eight. We moved camp to a new rehearsal room and the ideas began to take shape. We felt it was time to try a new studio and engineer so we went to Grouse Lodge deep in the middle of Ireland and employed Gomez to come over and work on the new album."
The band's idea was to keep the Primordial trademarks intact while incorporating a broader, heavier more organic sound. Nemtheanga adds, "We feel revitalized, the hunger never left and we are ready for another chapter to be written in our history!"
The album's track listing is as follows:
1. Where Greater Men Have Fallen
2. Babel's Tower
3. Come The Flood
4. The Seed Of Tyrants
5. Ghosts Of The Charnel House
6. The Alchemist's Head
7. Born To Night
8. Wield Lightning To Split The Sun More...

The final bands have now been announced for this year's edition of the Bloodstock Festival, which takes place from August 7th - 10th (get ticket info and other details over here). The organizers of the festival comment:
"The ‘Metal 2 The Masses’ finals have rocked to a conclusion and some more lucky young bands are joining the New Blood stage at Catton Park next month, plus there's a few last additions for the Sophie and Jagermeister stages.
"Balls Deep bring their trad groove metal to the Sophie Lancaster stage. The Brit outfit have been busy honing their ‘Pro-Pain cut with Black Sabbath’ sound, coming on like the bastard sons of Pantera and classic heavy metal.
"Over on the Jagermeister stage, female-fronted power metallers Aceldama will be impressing allcomers with their high octane performance and audience interaction, while New Blood stage stoner rocker’s Resin will be offering an additional acoustic spin on their new material.
"Meanwhile, the New Blood stage welcomes the last clutch of winners from the last batch of M2TM roadshow finals. Goat Leaf bring their doom groove from the Sheffield heats, Oakhaart’s tech death noise hails from Gloucestershire, impressing judges at the Bristol event, Sinpathetic grace us with their death metal from the Preston night, Eradikator’s thrash metal won out in Birmingham, and lastly but not least, Cacodaemonic's unholy, neo-classical infused death metal represents Nottingham."
