After disbanding in 2017, the group officially reunited in 2023, marking this as their first new full-length effort since their return.

The upcoming record follows 2016’s “Phenotype” and serves as its conceptual counterpart. The band first teased the album with “Closer To The Unknown” in June, and have now shared the second single, “At The Edge Of Winter,” released today. The track features a guest appearance from Charlotte Wessels (ex-Delain), with bassist Remko Tielemans handling the direction for its accompanying music video.

Mystic Festival (PL) Adds 16 New Bands To Line-Up

Insomnium, Terrorizer, Textures, Vltimas, Villagers of Ioannina City, Gutalax, Skálmöld, Gaupa, Evil Invaders, Party Cannon, Dödsrit, Witching, Dvne, Massive Wagons, Ditz and ten56. have announced their visit to Gdansk. You’ve got 16 more reasons to come to Mystic Festival in June of 2024.

How do you like your death metal? Melancholic and melodic as offered by Finland's Insomnium, or brutal and relentless - the cult Terrorizer returns to the stage, with David Vincent and Pete Sandoval in the lineup! Significantly, one of the most important voices of death metal will be heard at two shows in Gdansk - David will also headline Vltimas, the supergroup he formed with Blasphemer (ex-Mayhem) and Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy).

"Sex, Drugs and Fecal Gore" - the title of this song captures well the sound and character of the Gutalax performances, so here come the Czech heroes of shitty grind. The Brits from Party Cannon, with their crushing slam death metal, also know how to get the party going. The opposite pole of musical experiences will be handled by the Greeks from Villagers of Ioannina City, known for their progressive approach to stoner rock, and the Swedes from Gaupa, playing psychedelic hard rock.

Textures, masters of heavy weight prog-metal, will have a lot to offer to those who value technique and excellent sound, as well as Evil Invaders, moving freely in the territory between thrash and heavy metal. Dvne is also progressive metal in a sense but heavily influenced by post-metal monumentalism.

Skálmöld will bring Viking battle songs from Iceland, Dödsrit will batter their audience with d-beat-driven black metal, and the wounded will be slaughtered by Americans from Witching, who balance black metal aggression with doom solemnity. Massive Wagons invite you to a shameless, loud rock'n'roll party, Ditz also play rock, but with a lot of ambition and a solid dash of hardcore. Closing out today's stakes are ten56., who will come from Paris to unleash mayhem with their mixture of deathcore and nu-metal.

Mystic Festival will take place in Gdansk, Poland at the Gdansk Shipyard on June 5th through 8th, 2024.

Tickets are available now on the Mystic Festival homepage here More...

The album has been mixed by ex-Cynic and Exivious guitarist Tymon Kruidenier (currently with Our Oceans) and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima at Tower Studio. It's scheduled to be released on April 8th.

Textures Announces Break Up And Farewell Dates

Another sad day in the history of heavy music: Dutch polyrhythmic metallers Textures has called it quits. The band's full statement reads:

"Ladies and gentlemen, there is no easy way to say this, so here it is: Textures comes to an end.

"Personal motives have led to this decision and it has not been made in haste. These personal reasons made it harder to be the productive band Textures always has been in the past and which this band needs to be. Without this dedication Textures would merely be a shell of what it used to be.

"Break-ups are never easy and always bring difficulties. Unfortunately we have to announce that our anticipated 6th album ‘Genotype’ will not be released and so there will be no double album. At least not for the coming years...

"The breakup of Textures doesn't mean that there is any hardship within the band. We still have a strong connection with current and former members and this decision won't lead to any tensions whatsoever. Furthermore the individual band members will continue to make music and pursue new musical endeavours. Keep your eyes and ears open...

"Thanks to all the friends, fellow musicians and other colleagues we have had the pleasure to meet along the way. And of course special thanks to all the fans who have supported us throughout the years. It is your dedication, appreciation and continued presence at our shows all over the world that made this journey one to remember for a lifetime.

"We hope to see you all very soon on our farewell tour.

Textures Reveals Two Upcoming Albums

Dutch progressive metallers Textures is about to release a musical diptych: "Phenotype - Genotype," which will be two new albums set up around one concept. The Dutch sextet is not a band to put out an album every year in a row. The group took almost 2.5 years to write and record albums no. 5 and 6.

"Music is no fast food! Details are crafted and re-crafted. Extra layers are created and stretched to form the ultimate tension span for years to last."

"Phenotype," the first album to be released on February 5, 2016 via Nuclear Blast, is a 60-minute long song-based album. Textures presents an eclectic overview of what modern metal has to offer. Catchy, innovative and progressive songs are what Textures stands for. The new virtuosos Uri Dijk (synth) and Joe Tal (guitar) deliver a harmonic vibe to the band's sound.

"Genotype," which will be released a year later, is a 45-minute long conceptual track. The root material of "Phenotype" is presented in this song, but in a totally different context as Textures goes out of the box: more proggy, more atmosphere and lots of extra layers to fill the last gaps left in this extensive double rollercoaster ride.
